Chapter 265 - 263: Because He Didn’t Open His Mouth
Chapter 265: Chapter 263: Because He Didn’t Open His Mouth
Huang Ziyue and Bai Chaosi, sitting beside her, were also silent for a moment.
Even someone as cold-hearted and ruthless as Huang Ziyue felt a surge of indignation and grief upon hearing what Hu Tu had said.
He began to reflect on himself. ’Was I once this numb and indifferent?’
But on second thought, even though he was vicious and treated others with cold indifference, he would never do anything to harm his own child!
The only exception was when he had first arrived at Wilderness Mountain and hurt Sanbao while trying to take the child from Shen Yue. Now, every time he recalled that incident, it was his greatest regret!
He felt that it was the worst, most outrageous thing he had ever done as a Father.
So, while he might be cold by nature, it didn’t mean he was inhuman!
But this Hu Tu, who looked so simple and affable, had actually committed such cold-blooded, deranged acts. It just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover!
In the room, Hu Tu continued speaking, but the aura around Shen Yue remained heavy and suppressed.
Not until Hu Tu began talking about what happened after their group arrived in Li City.
Shen Yue slowly raised her head.
"Are you saying that the black-robed person told you to find a way to kill me?"
’So, I wasn’t wrong.’
Hu Tu had known about them the moment they entered the city.
She had originally thought Xiao Ya had sent word to Hu Tu, but it turned out to be the black-robed person.
It was the black-robed person who told Hu Tu to find a way to make them stay, which was why Hu Tu sent Huang Ziyue an invitation.
And the black-robed person’s goal was actually to have Hu Tu find a way to kill her.
Hu Tu looked at Shen Yue, Huang Ziyue, and Bai Chaosi.
"Have none of you realized that your entry into Li City that day was far too smooth?"
Shen Yue froze. "What do you mean?"
That day, they had followed the scent trail left by Bai Chaosi and Xiao Ya all the way to the outskirts of Li City.
In order to get into the city successfully, they had blended in with a merchant caravan, disguising themselves as its members.
The inspection at the city gate that day had been very simple, very lax.
They had only asked the caravan a couple of questions before letting them pass.
Thinking of this, Shen Yue shuddered...
’Now that I think back, getting in that day really was too easy...’
Hu Tu said bluntly,
"The truth is, I knew you were coming the day before you entered the city."
"So, I threw the city gates wide open and waited for you to come in. I even specifically removed several of the guards at the gate!"
As Shen Yue and Huang Ziyue listened, their gazes tightened simultaneously.
’The day before we entered the city?’
’How is that possible?’
The day before entering the city, they were still in Luoxi Town.
They had spent a full day following the scent trail left by Xiao Ya and Bai Chaosi, tracking them to Li City without a single break.
Even they themselves didn’t know they would end up tracking them all the way to Li City, yet Hu Tu knew in advance??
At this thought, Shen Yue’s heart sank, and she fell into deep contemplation!!
’Does this mean that the black-robed person knew we would come to Li City when we were still in Luoxi Town?’
’Could it be that the scent trail of Xiao Ya and Bai Chaosi was deliberately left by that black-robed person?’
Huang Ziyue, however, seemed to have thought of something and glanced at Bai Chaosi beside him.
Hu Tu also glanced at Bai Chaosi, then at the Purple Rabbit in Shen Yue’s arms.
Then, he spoke slowly,
"But I, as a brother, was truly foolish."
Shen Yue was taken aback for a moment.
She waited for him to continue.
He said, "Thinking about it now, I’m afraid that person knew about my sister’s existence long ago. His target from the very beginning was A zhi."
With Hu Tu’s reminder, it was as if the fog in Shen Yue’s mind had been instantly cleared!
Her eyes narrowed, as if she understood everything in an instant.
"Where’s A Cheng?"
She looked at Bai Chaosi.
Bai Chaosi had a faint feeling this matter might concern him, so he immediately called out the door.
A Cheng quickly walked in.
Shen Yue looked at him. "A Cheng, you said that day that after Bai Chaosi fell off the cliff, you followed the river and chased after him. How many days did you chase before you found him outside Luoxi Town?"
A Cheng immediately replied, "Three days. After the Young Master fell off the cliff, I jumped down immediately. I personally saw the Young Master being swept away by the river. Afterwards, I followed that river and searched for a full three days before I found the Young Master’s trail outside Luoxi Town."
Shen Yue listened. "So you’re saying you followed the river for three days, which means Luoxi Town is a three-day journey from where Bai Chaosi fell off the cliff?"
Hearing this, A Cheng thought for a moment.
"That’s right. Because I was anxious about the Young Master, I didn’t dare to stop for a moment along the way. Even at a quickened pace, it still took three days to get there."
As he spoke, A Cheng paused. "And the river outside Luoxi Town isn’t the same one that swept the Young Master away. It’s just a small tributary further downstream. Logically, the Young Master shouldn’t have been washed up there!"
’That’s the crux of the problem.’
Shen Yue instantly had the answer in her heart.
She looked at Bai Chaosi. "You were heavily injured back then. Not only was a tendon in your hand severed, but you were also hit by a hidden weapon from the men in black. Do you think, in your condition at the time, you could have survived after being washed so far away by the water?"
Bai Chaosi’s gentle eyes darkened slightly. He considered it for a moment and also realized what the key issue was!
He had been washed away by the river for three days and was still alive, and had even ended up in a place he shouldn’t have been.
He looked at Shen Yue. "Are you saying someone deliberately left me in Luoxi Town?"
When A Cheng heard this, his eyes widened in shock.
Huang Ziyue, however, seemed to have already guessed this, and his eyes flickered.
Shen Yue stated directly,
"That’s right. You weren’t washed up in Luoxi Town by the river. Someone specifically brought you to Luoxi Town, just so you would fall into Xiao Ya’s jaws."
Bai Chaosi’s eyes clouded with contemplation as he tried his best to remember.
"Although I was drifting in and out of consciousness that day, I can still clearly remember that the residents of Luoxi Town didn’t try to kill me. They just whipped me and said some harsh words."
Shen Yue watched him, knowing he was about to speak of the suffering he was so reluctant to mention.
"Later, the townspeople all went home. In my haze, I saw a figure take me down from the tree. I could feel it on top of me, biting through my throat and drinking my blood. Then, it took a knife and peeled off my skin, layer by layer. I watched its sharp claws pierce my flesh, run through my spine, break my limbs, and then pull out my fingernails, one by one..."
"Enough! Don’t say any more!"
Shen Yue’s throat tightened, and she cut him off sharply.
She couldn’t bear to hear it.
She didn’t dare to imagine how much pain Bai Chaosi must have been in at that moment!
The rabbit in her arms drooped its ears as if it understood. It twitched its nose softly, trying to make itself as inconspicuous as possible.
But Shen Yue noticed this small movement and, in her agitation, flung it to the floor.
"Get off!"
She seemed to be venting, directing her fiery anger at the creature.
The rabbit was thrown to the ground. It drooped its ears, its eyes filled with both fear and grievance.
But it still moved cautiously, coming to lie at Shen Yue’s feet and pressing tightly against her ankle. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂
Watching this, Huang Ziyue shot a hostile glance at Bai Chaosi.
’In his eyes, this man was just playing the victim, deliberately making Shen Yue upset and feel guilty.’
’If you weren’t willing to talk about it before, you should have kept it to yourself forever. It would have been much better to keep it hidden in your heart.’
A Cheng, at the side, couldn’t help his eyes from turning red again.
"Young Master, why didn’t you say anything? You suffered so much! Why did you have to keep this bottled up inside all by yourself?!"
Hearing this made Shen Yue even more irritated, and she just snapped,
"Because he deserved it! He brought it on himself! He’s so melodramatic and contrary! This suffering is what he gets for not opening his mouth!"
A Cheng was so frightened he immediately shut his mouth, not daring to even breathe too loudly.
It was the first time he had ever seen Miss Shen Yue get so angry that she completely lost her temper!
As for Bai Chaosi, he pressed his lips together and hung his head like a scolded dog, not daring to make a sound.
