Sequence Highway Survival: I Upgrade Supplies in the Apocalypse
Chapter 781: Is the Whole Team Full of Villains?
After Huang Jue left with a bitter expression, Chen Ye received two more people.
There was a man and a woman before him, one tall and one short, one fat and one thin.
The woman was short and chubby.

The man had an unremarkable appearance, and his eyes were still half-closed. He probably hadn’t slept well the night before.
After hearing the chubby woman introduce herself,
Chen Ye immediately perked up.
“You said you’re from the Botanist Sequence?”
Chen Ye hadn’t expected a Botanist Sequence Superhuman to come seeking refuge with him.
That was a very pleasant surprise.
The convoy had been hoping and praying for ages to find a Botanist Sequence Superhuman.
They didn’t need someone at Professor Liu’s level, like the one from Divine Elephant Village.
Even a useless guy like Gong Yong would surely make Chu Che so happy he’d jump for joy.
When it came to Botanist Sequence Superhumans, the first thing Chen Ye thought of was Ideal Grain Seeds.
Even though supplies in Xi City were slightly more plentiful now,
Ideal Grain Seeds were still among the most valuable supplies of all.
Even if Chen Ye and Chu Che wanted to trade Wonders for some, there was no way anyone would be willing to part with them.
They were the sort of thing that money couldn’t buy.
If a convoy had Ideal Grain Seeds, they would absolutely keep them hidden from everyone.
Since no one was willing to trade, all they could do was hope a Botanist Sequence Superhuman would come seeking refuge.
And now, a Botanist Sequence Superhuman really had come seeking refuge.
Ideal Grain Seeds, oh, Ideal Grain Seeds...
As Chen Ye looked at the chubby woman, those four words were all that filled his mind!
The Silent Council had a few Botanist Sequence Superhumans, and Chen Ye had once considered recruiting them.
But that old bastard Hou Junji treated those Botanist Sequence Superhumans like precious treasures.
He wouldn’t even give Chen Ye a chance to get near them.
Huahua answered guiltily, “Um~~~ Sequence... Two!”
She felt so guilty that she hardly dared to meet Chen Ye’s eyes.
“Sequence Two is fine, it’s fine! As long as you’re from the Botanist Sequence, that’s all that matters! That’s all that matters... Hahaha...”
As he spoke, Chen Ye couldn’t help bursting into laughter.
This was the first time he’d ever gotten so carried away.
If Huang Jue, his “cousin,” knew that his “cousin” was more enthusiastic toward a stranger than toward him, he’d have no idea what to think.
“Good. I hereby announce that you’re now part of Guard Team One!”
“Chief Seat, what about him...?”
Huahua pointed at Squinty Eyes.
Chen Ye glanced at him. “Is he asleep?”
Huahua’s face darkened, and even a huge bead of cold sweat appeared on Squinty Eyes’ forehead.
“Chief Seat, I just look like this. My eyes are small. I was born this way.”
Chen Ye waved a hand. “Doesn’t matter. Since Huahua has spoken up for you, you’re part of Guard Team One too!”
Wait, so I’m just getting in for free?
Squinty Eyes was a little displeased, but he didn’t dare show it. He could only answer respectfully.
“By the way, Squinty Eyes, what Sequence are you?”
Squinty Eyes?
The corners of Squinty Eyes’ eyes twitched violently. Seriously, he’d only just met Chen Ye, and he’d already given him a nickname. Was that really appropriate?
Though it was true that people had been calling him Squinty Eyes for ages.
Squinty Eyes sighed inwardly.
With eyes this small, he never even needed to introduce himself. Everyone would just call him Squinty Eyes on their own.
He’d even forgotten his own name.
“Curse Sequence Two.”
Hearing that he belonged to this Sequence, Chen Ye fell silent for a moment.
Well, now that Guard Team One had finished recruiting, there were four of them in total.
One was a Blood Moon Lord so sinister that no one knew what to make of him, another clearly belonged to the anti-human God Worshipper Sequence, and now there was someone from the Curse Sequence, which sounded wrong from the start.
Looking at the whole team like this, they were all villains.
Good thing they had a Botanist Sequence Superhuman to keep things steady.
And so...
Guard Team One currently had only five people.
There was Huang Jue from the God Worshipper Sequence, the two people before him, and Iron Lion.
Iron Lion was still recovering, so he couldn’t join the team just yet.
Chen Ye had reserved the position of Deputy Captain for Iron Lion.
Huang Jue, the God Worshipper, was also a Deputy Captain, but only in name. It was unlikely the two before him would listen to Huang Jue, so the title was just for show.
With that, Guard Team One of the Thirteen Guard Teams could now be considered well-staffed and strong.
Xu Lina had even secured a job for her cousin, Lai Baiwei.
Although Lai Baiwei wasn’t a Superhuman and couldn’t be a Deputy Captain or anything like that, she could still work as an assistant.
For instance, she could help Chen Ye gather information and reports from time to time.
Little Fish was still too young. It just wasn’t right to employ a child.
While Guard Team One was recruiting, the other twelve teams weren’t idle either.
Thanks to her reputation as Demoness Jiang, Jiang Rou quickly had people coming to her to ask to join.
Before long, Demoness Jiang was strutting around the streets with four or five Superhuman lackeys in tow.
Demoness Jiang accepted anyone who caught her eye. Whether they were Sequence One or Sequence Two, she’d take them.
You Hu had also become well-known in Happy Garden and Sunshine Garden recently, thanks to several fights.
As a result, quite a few people sought to join him.
But that guy already had plenty of Superhumans in his own convoy, so he didn’t recruit anyone from outside.
The other popular captain was someone Chen Ye hadn’t expected.
It was Chen Hao, the eleventh-position captain.
Her reputation as an easygoing guy and a saint was already known to just about everyone.
Among the convoys that had arrived here in the second wave, there was even someone who knew Chen Hao. After spreading the word about her, quite a few people wanted to join her team.
After all, everyone wanted a boss who was easy to get along with and a good person.
But she didn’t just accept anyone. She picked only three to five Superhumans who seemed upright to serve as her team members.
Before long, the whole of Building One had grown lively.
The sixth floor in particular was bustling with Superhumans coming and going every day.
As Chen Ye’s assistant, Lai Baiwei now had a whole new air about her.
No one knew where the woman had gotten a black business suit, but paired with her high heels with red soles, she had the look of an executive’s assistant at a major corporation.
Especially her long legs, which were just as lovely as Demoness Jiang’s, though in a different way.
Whenever she walked past Chen Ye with a pile of documents in her arms, her hips swayed like a water snake, and her heels went click, click, click.
No one was stupid enough to try striking up an acquaintance with Lai Baiwei. Everyone knew she was the Chief Seat’s assistant.
Still, all sorts of rumors inevitably spread behind the scenes.
Chen Ye and Lai Baiwei clearly had no romantic involvement.
But rumors about Chen Ye, Xu Lina, and the cousins, Lai Baiwei and Xu Lina, started circulating again.
Jiang Rou’s story was even mixed in among them.
And so, a juicy love story involving four people was born.
After everyone arrived in Xi City, the pressure they’d been under eased considerably, so rumors like these spread especially fast.
Several well-fed survivors sat downstairs in the residential compound, bowls in hand, gossiping away.
“Hey, have you heard? Miss Xu Lina and her cousin Lai Baiwei are both the Chief Seat’s women!”
A middle-aged woman spoke with the confidence of a seasoned storyteller.
“I’m jealous... Whether it’s Xu Lina or Lai Baiwei, they’re both gorgeous!”
The skinny man looked envious, practically drooling.
“Hey, hey, wipe your drool up. You’re dripping it into my damn bowl.”
The dark, thin man beside him cursed impatiently.
“What kind of news is that? I heard the Chief Seat and the deputy captain of Team Two used to have a thing going on!”
A man with a pencil mustache looked smug.
“Tell us, tell us, what happened between the Chief Seat and Team Two...?”
Just then, they suddenly heard the sound of high heels approaching.
Their expressions changed, and their bowls nearly slipped from their hands.
There was no one else in Happy Garden or Sunshine Garden who walked in heels like that.
Sure enough, Lai Baiwei appeared, wearing a well-fitted black business suit, swaying her hips as she strode over on her long legs.
Lai Baiwei was an ordinary person, but as the Chief Seat’s assistant, she could easily crush these few gossipmongers.
But she didn’t even look at them. She simply swayed her hips and walked slowly away.
The middle-aged woman couldn’t help muttering, “Vixen!”
Who knew whether Lai Baiwei had heard her, but the woman’s hips swayed with even more gusto.
If they’d been able to see her from the front, they would have noticed the alluring curve of Lai Baiwei’s lips.
She seemed happy because of that one remark, “Vixen.”
