Sequence Highway Survival: I Upgrade Supplies in the Apocalypse
Chapter 674: Camp Riot
"I have no idea how those Silent Council bastards found out!"
"Those things in the sea, they're coming ashore!"
Chen Ye was briefly stunned, then his face changed dramatically.
"You mean... the sea anomalies are coming on land, and you're still here yapping away with all this nonsense with me?!"
"We need to run, now!"
Chen Ye glared at Chu Che.
This idiot, the things in the sea were about to come ashore, and he was over here chattering away with all this useless talk for so long?
Chen Ye turned around, ready to head back to the car.
Meanwhile, over at the camp, there seemed to be some commotion stirring as well.
From a distance, the entire camp looked like a drop of water had been flicked into a pan of hot oil.Cries of shock rang out, followed by utter chaos sweeping through the whole camp.
People were frantically packing their things, some vehicles were already starting up.
There were even conflicts breaking out between convoy members in the camp and the Silent Council personnel.
That big guy named Xiong Baochun was shoving back and forth with some superhuman, looking like they might come to blows at any second.
Clearly, news of the sea anomalies coming ashore had reached them.
Otherwise, there was no way the camp would be in such an uproar.
When they first got back, Chen Ye had already felt the atmosphere in the camp wasn't quite right.
He never expected that the moment he returned, Squad Leader Chu Che would drop such an explosive bombshell on him.
Chen Ye's face darkened.
But just as Chen Ye took a couple of steps, Chu Che's voice drifted over, slow and deliberate.
"We can't leave!"
"There's no time. The sea anomalies are coming ashore in two hours!"
"Maybe not even two hours!"
That tight on time?
Chen Ye's heart skipped a beat, and every hair on his body stood on end.
Two hours, and he was only hearing about this now?!
"Wait, don't we have the Concealment Barrier back at the base?"
"How is this happening?"
"The Concealment Barrier isn't omnipotent. All it does is reduce our aura of the living to the bare minimum!"
"But it can't drive away Anomalies!"
"And this time, the sea anomalies aren't coming specifically for us!"
"There's going to be a huge number of them. We're just collateral damage!"
Chen Ye's expression turned even uglier.
If they weren't coming specifically for them, that meant the entire surrounding area wouldn't be safe either.
Running away might no longer be the best option.
The arguing over at the camp was getting louder and louder.
Superhumans had even started throwing punches.
The Fair Convoy side looked relatively calm, thanks to Sun Xixi and her Sword Immortal Sequence keeping watch. Ordinary superhumans didn't dare cause trouble over there.
As for the Post-Apocalyptic Opera Troupe, Wu Zehui had already transformed into the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
A thick, long iron rod stood erect in the middle of their camp, with Wu Zehui perched right on top of it.
His golden eyes swept over every superhuman with ill intentions, radiating pure threat.
And over at the Skeleton Convoy's spot.
Number One was already standing on top of a vehicle, bow and arrow in hand, staring down everyone with a warning gaze.
"Let them riot, let them riot. It'll settle down in a bit!"
"Actually, before you guys got back, things had already flared up once!"
Chu Che said lazily, as if he wasn't worried at all that this riot would last long.
Squad after squad of Silent Council staff, led by senior observers, began to suppress those superhumans with malicious intentions.
"You mother-..."
Chen Ye wanted to curse Chu Che out, but he didn't even know where to start.
"Cursing me won't help. We can't leave. There's just too little time this time!"
"Anyone who runs off on their own will die even faster!"
Chen Ye stopped in his tracks. Once he calmed down, he realized that the reason Chu Che was so composed was because he clearly had his own plan.
"The Silent Council gathered all these people and set things up here for so long. There's no way they'd give up that easily."
"If these people scatter, getting them back together won't be so simple!"
"Besides, the Silent Council isn't completely unprepared!"
"According to their plan, as long as we stay put and wait three to five days, the sea anomalies will naturally return to the ocean on their own. After that, we'll be fine!"
"Honestly, this is less dangerous than going out to the Uninhabited Forbidden Zone to scavenge for supplies!"
"What's the plan?"
Chen Ye really wasn't used to placing all his hopes on someone he didn't know at all.
The Silent Council. Always the Silent Council.
When were the people on the Sky Whale going to show up?
He hadn't seen anyone from the real legendary Oasis either.
And what about that so-called aerial fortress?
Where had all these people gone?
Why was it always the Silent Council jumping around the most?
"Concealment Talismans! This time, the Silent Council is going to distribute every Concealment Talisman they've stockpiled to everyone!"
"As long as you wear a Concealment Talisman and reduce your aura of the living to the minimum!"
"Those sea anomalies won't be able to detect us!"
"We just have to wait for them to pass, and we'll be safe!"
Chen Ye furrowed his brow.
"Squad Leader Chu, do you really trust the Silent Council that much?"
Chu Che shook his head. "If we're talking about trust, I trust the Silent Council even less than you do!"
"But right now, we don't have any other path forward!"
"We have to follow the Silent Council's plan!"
"Of course, if we wanted to leave right now, the Silent Council wouldn't stop us."
Chu Che's voice came out low and measured.
Just as he said those words.
Over at the base, Chen Ye watched with his own eyes as the Skeleton Convoy actually made their move.
These people were lightning fast. After the Silent Council's Song Wei said something to them, they started packing up.
They were clearly planning to leave.
Their speed was absurdly quick. The whole process seemed to take only a few minutes before everything was packed and ready.
Then, the Skeleton Convoy's vehicles left a long trail of exhaust as they drove straight toward the base gates.
Judging by the tire tracks left in the dirt, they looked like they were fleeing in a panic.
The Skeleton Convoy was weak. To survive in the apocalypse, they'd always been even more cautious and careful than the Fair Convoy.
The fact that they chose to run made sense, you could understand their reasoning.
And right next to the Fair Convoy, an empty space had opened up.
Chen Ye quietly watched the Skeleton Convoy's actions.
Clearly, that convoy was planning to leave.
Sure enough, just like Chu Che had said, the Silent Council didn't stop the Skeleton Convoy at all.
At the same time, several other convoys followed the Skeleton Convoy's example, packing up at lightning speed.
Then they started their engines and drove out of the base.
The Silent Council didn't stop them either.
For a moment, the camp fell strangely quiet.
Chen Ye suddenly understood, and his gaze sharpened.
"So that's why you seemed off today. The moment I got back, you dragged me over here to chatter on for so long!"
A wry smile flickered across Chu Che's face. "We know each other too well. Most of my thoughts can't hide from you."
"No, you've got too many secrets. Sometimes I can't figure out what you're thinking either!"
Chen Ye exhaled a breath of smoke, and suddenly felt some pressure weighing down on him.
This bastard. The reason he'd told him all this was to shift the burden onto his shoulders.
"You called me over to ask for my opinion, to ask whether we should stay or leave."
"Honestly, Squad Leader Chu, you haven't made up your own mind either, have you?"
Chu Che hesitated for a moment, then gave a slight nod.
As the captain, keeping everyone alive had already drained every ounce of his energy.
Now, with the sea anomalies coming ashore at the base.
The Silent Council kept reassuring everyone that as long as they followed the plan, nothing would happen.
But Chu Che didn't trust the Silent Council either, which was why he'd come to Chen Ye to talk it over, partly to share some of the pressure weighing on him.
Across the entire convoy, Chu Che couldn't find anyone else to discuss this with.
If he asked Sun Xixi, Ding Dong, Dantai Bie, or Gong Yong.
The answer he'd most likely get would be, "Squad Leader Chu, you're the captain. We'll follow your lead!"
Asking Iron Lion would be even more pointless. For something like this, Chen Ye was the only one he could turn to.
"Yezi, stay or go. What do you think?"
Chen Ye turned his head toward the noisy camp. Even from this distance, he could feel the restless hearts of the people back at the base.
