Sensational! Fake Noble VS Real Genius
Chapter 2090: Dean of the Mystical Studies Academy
Before adjourning, the instructor stopped Gu Zhiqi. "Student Gu Zhiqi, stay behind for a bit."
As soon as he spoke, everyone turned their heads to look at Gu Zhiqi, all those probing, curious gazes landing on her.
Feeling those gazes, Gu Zhiqi didn’t care, and really did stay behind.
This year’s instructor was named Yan Ke. Besides that, he was also the dean of the Mystical Studies Academy.
Once everyone had cleared out of the classroom, Yan Ke, dressed in a Daoist Robe with his hair tied up, walked over to Gu Zhiqi and sat down beside her with great familiarity.
"You said you’d come back, fine, don’t come back as a teacher if you don’t want to, but how did you end up as a student?"
"You have no idea how short-handed the academy is on instructors."
"Ever since you and the Old Ancestor left, my workload shot up like crazy. Look, look, I’ve even grown white hair."
As Yan Ke spoke, he lowered his head toward Gu Zhiqi, showing her the top of his head.
Trying to win some sympathy from Gu Zhiqi.
Gu Zhiqi: "You already had white hair when we left."
Yan Ke’s movements paused. When he lifted his head again, there was a trace of grievance in his eyes. "I’m really exhausted, you know. Just help me out, yeah?"
In the whole academy, he was the only all‑rounder Mystic Master.
Not only was he the dean of the Mystical Studies Academy, he also had to take charge of one entire cohort, and sometimes even go teach other cohorts.
Back when Gu Zhiqi and Yan Qian were around, he only needed to teach two or three classes a day.
Now, there were only two or three classes a week he didn’t have to teach.
Exhausting.
Gu Zhiqi was unmoved. "No."
Before Yan Ke could start wailing, Gu Zhiqi added, "In a few days, I might be leaving again."
Yan Ke: ?
"Hm? Leaving? Leaving for where?" Yan Ke immediately sat up straight, looking at Gu Zhiqi with a serious face.
Gu Zhiqi: "To look for Yan Qian."
Hearing that, Yan Ke blinked at her and stared for a long time. After several seconds he finally asked, "Where are you going to look? Wait, you know where the Old Ancestor went?"
Gu Zhiqi raised her brows and didn’t answer.
Seeing this, Yan Ke fell silent. After a long while, he looked at Gu Zhiqi and asked, "You’ve gone to see the Old Ancestor? Can she really wake up?"
Gu Zhiqi pondered for two seconds, then said, "As long as I don’t die, I can bring her back."
Yan Ke sucked in a breath. "Don’t talk about dying and not dying. You’re definitely going to live to a hundred at least."
Gu Zhiqi: "...I’m an Eighth Order Ancient Martial Artist, and I live to a hundred?"
Yan Ke: "Wrong, wrong, ten thousand years—no, your lifespan will rival heaven’s."
After he said that, Yan Ke realized something was off. He paused and looked at Gu Zhiqi. "Back when you and the Old Ancestor left, weren’t you already at Ninth-order Peak? How’d you drop to Eighth-Rank again?"
Gu Zhiqi: "Ran into a little accident."
After hearing that, Yan Ke rubbed his chin. A few seconds later, he looked at Gu Zhiqi and said, "Do you know Angel?"
Gu Zhiqi nodded. "Formed by the remnants of the Tongtian Sect. I’ve crossed paths with them quite a few times before."
Yan Ke: "There’s a Ninth-order Mystic Master on Angel’s side. Have you ever fought him?"
Gu Zhiqi shook her head, then raised a brow at Yan Ke. "You fought him?"
Yan Ke nodded. "I did. We ended in a tie. That’s why he doesn’t dare show himself so openly anymore, right?"
Speaking of this, irritation and dejection surfaced between Yan Ke’s brows. "The vice dean sent people to turn all of Nine Stars City upside down, and still couldn’t find any trace of Angel. We have no idea where they’re hiding."
"Have you checked with the Dark Star side?"
Yan Ke nodded. "That’s actually our main focus." As he spoke, he added helplessly, "But we still haven’t found anything."
