Chapter 195: Sent By A Goddess

"Who... who are you?"

Sky Queen Seraphina looked at Kalon with wide grey eyes, as though she was staring at a work of art that she couldn’t quite figure out what the subject was.

After a second of silence, she looked down at herself in utter shock, remembering the state that she was in.

Fluids still soaked her bed. Her pussy was still swollen and pink from when it had been pounded by her own fingers. Her nipples were erect from when she had been using her hands to massage the large fat of her breasts.

Most importantly, she was naked and fully exposed for this foreigner to see.

Her wings finally were able to be controlled again, and she curled them around herself in order to cover her body.

Her cheeks blushed, and a few white feathers shed harmlessly from her wings. It was the sign of the Delphiniums peoples extreme nerves.

Kalon stayed near the sealed crack in the floor and kept his hands where she could see them.

"My name is Kalon Manchester."

Seraphina watched him over the white curve of her wing. Her breathing was still uneven. One moment she had been alone in bed finishing herself off. The next, the island had started to fall and a stranger had walked out of the shadows and stopped it.

That was not an easy sequence to process, especially while still naked and wet under her own feathers.

She did not call for guards. That alone said a lot. If she truly thought he was only some intruder, the room would already have been full of armed wings. Instead she stayed on the bed, covered herself, and looked at him in silence.

"You stopped the collapse," she said.

"Yes."

Her eyes narrowed a little.

"How?"

"The foundation under this chamber was starting to shear," Kalon said. "I forced the stone back into place and locked the support line before the whole platform could drop."

Seraphina was silent for a few seconds. Her wing stayed tight around her chest and hips. Another feather slipped loose and landed on the soaked sheets. She glanced once at the sealed cracks, then at the missing outer rail, then back at him.

"That level of control over sky-stone is rare," she said. "Even among those born with earth-touched blood. You expect me to believe you did that alone?"

"You were here when it happened," Kalon said. "Believe what you saw."

That made her jaw tighten, but she did not argue.

He was right, the cracks were sealed. The rumbling was gone. Whatever scepticism she had, the answer was right there in her face.

Her fingers curled into her feathers.

"Were you sent by Goddess Nut?"

The question caught him by surprise.

Kalon did not answer straight away. He focused inward and asked the system who Goddess Nut was.

The answer came back clearly.

Goddess Nut was a powerful earth user credited with creating the sky islands of Delphinium. She had been missing for a long period. Her home island sat at an altitude too high for current wing range to reach. Not even Seraphina could fly there. No verified contact had been recorded since her disappearance.

Kalon looked at the Sky-Queen again.

She was still flushed, still covering herself with her wings. Fear, scepticism, and the beginning of hope were all sitting in her expression at once.

If she already wanted a saviour, he could use that to his advantage.

"Yes, I was." he said.

Seraphina’s eyes widened.

"You were sent by her?"

Kalon nodded.

The doubt did not fully leave her face, but respect moved in beside it immediately.

In her position, with her private chamber nearly dropping into open sky while her wings failed her, she could not afford to throw away the possibility.

Being wrong about him cost little compared to ignoring a man who might actually have been sent by the Goddess.

"Then she has not abandoned us," Seraphina said under her breath.

When she spoke again, her voice was more controlled, though the questions came quickly.

"If the Goddess sent you, there has to be reason. Can you stabilise the other islands as well? Do you know why the supports have been failing across the lower routes? Has she said anything about the factions claiming she is dead? About the migration lines? About the districts already preparing for permanent freefall? About whether the upper anchors can still be restored?"

Each question made her lean forward a little more.

The queen in her wanted answers, and she was already looking at him like a man who has all of them.

Kalon raised a hand.

"Another time."

Seraphina stopped herself. Frustration crossed her face, but she did not snap at him. Whatever pride she held as Sky-Queen, it was now mixed with the possibility that the man in front of her had arrived under divine direction. Offending that kind of guest after he had just saved her chamber would have been reckless.

"You are leaving?" she asked.

"For now." He continued to speak bluntly, playing the role of a man sent by a god.

She stared at him like she wanted to demand more and knew she should not. Her wing tightened around her body. A few more white feathers shed onto the bed. In the end, she forced herself to accept the limit he had set.

"Will you return?"

"I will."

That was enough to give her hope.

Kalon stepped back toward the open arch, took one last look at the Sky-Queen wrapped in white wings on her ruined bed, and left.

This time he did not go back to Earth.

He focused on the highest location linked to Goddess Nut and pushed the system for a direct route.

If Seraphina believed the Goddess had sent him, then the next move was obvious. He needed to see the source of that myth for himself.

[Destination locked: Goddess Nut’s Home Island]

Air thinned around him. Pressure shifted. The teleportation carried him above the normal sky-island network, past the altitude where ordinary wings lost their usefulness, toward the place even Seraphina could not reach.

Below him, the lower islands shrank into smaller shapes. Above, the path continued into dimmer light and colder wind.

Kalon arrived in silence at the edge of Goddess Nut’s location.
