Chapter 109: Bullies To Beggars

"It’s just... You’re so much different now. The way you spoke to those two prodigies?"

In the cafeteria at lunch that day, Kalon was experiencing something he had never experienced before.

He was openly being hit on. Not just by one girl, but a group of them.

It seemed that coming in numbers was the only way they could muster up the courage to do so.

As for who the four women were? Kalon knew them well, but didn’t care for them at all.

They were just your average pretty girl group. All decent fighters but nothing special. They were more likely to get sponsors because of their looks if anything.

"And the way you spoke to Sun... Even in front of her brother. Didn’t you feel scared?"

Kalon had yet to say a word. He remembered that each of these women had bullied him in the past, and had no intentions of speaking to them now.

Instead, his mind was focused elsewhere.

That morning, the official bracket for the Duo Tournament had been put out there. This also announced who exactly had been accepted to participate, and also gave the exact date for the tournament, bringing it a few weeks closer.

The tournament would be divided into year groups. 8 duos from each year group would be entered randomly, meaning that students from The Academy of Systems, Kalon’s school, and The Awakened School, where Sun and Moon attended, could be facing off against each other.

As for Kalon and Thea, they weren’t one of those duos.

They were facing a duo from the Awakened School.

Adrien Fontaine, and Claire Fontaine.

It wasn’t rare for siblings to enter the tournament, and Kalon had heard of these siblings before.

Claire, the sister, was known for her affinity to life, and would use it to heal her brother, Adrien, who had a lightning affinity that he would use up close.

It was two affinities that Kalon didn’t have, however it was an affinity that was weak to water and earth, which worked in his favour.

As for Life, he would just have to deal with the brother before the sister could even heal.

...

Kalon also saw that on his side of the bracket was Richard and Ruby, the siblings who had given him the most trouble during his lifetime. If they all won their first matches, they would be fighting each other next.

As for the other duos in his year group, they were:

Levian Ashcroft & Larissa Hart

And...

Daniel Forest & Cassius Black

Levian was the student with a lightning affinity.

Daniel was one of Kalon’s biggest bullies.

Larissa and Cassius were both less known, due to lacking an affinity, but Kalon also recognised them both as people who had not bullied him directly, but laughed at him in the past.

In the tournament, there were many people that he wished to get payback on.

Every round would be eventful.

"Look, Kalon. I know you’re still mad at us... all of us for things that happened in the past. We’re sorry for that, you know? It wasn’t ever supposed to be serious."

Kalon was drawn from his thoughts and brought back to the conversation.

The one that had just spoken was Sophie Grandford, the leader of the small pack of young ladies.

She was a beauty for sure. She worked as a part-time model outside of her career as an aspiring professional fighter. Her hair was brown and straight. She had a beauty spot on her cheek, right beneath her hazel eyes.

On top of everything else, she was a bitch in Kalon’s eyes.

Kalon looked the woman in her eyes.

"Oh, so it wasn’t serious when I was pushed down a flight of stairs and fractured one of my ribs?"

The group suddenly became stunned.

Sophie opened her mouth to speak, but Kalon continued before she could.

"What about when the death of my parents was mocked by Richard and the others?"

"But Kalon, I had nothing to do with—"

"You laughed, Sophie."

The words stunned her.

From the look on the other girls’ faces, they wanted to leave the conversation.

They could see that Kalon was becoming angry, and that frightened them.

No matter how they looked at Kalon in the past, there was no doubting that he was no longer that same boy.

There was almost nothing about him that was the same as the old him.

"I... I only laughed because everyone else did." Was all she could say.

At this point, the attentions of others in the cafeteria had been drawn.

Many people knew that whilst Kalon’s words were directed at her, they also applied to everyone else as well.

"Yeah, and that’s why you and everyone else is a part of the problem. You laughed when I was weak but want to be friendly now that I’m strong."

The words spread throughout the entire cafeteria. All the women could do was stare at him blankly until he spoke again.

"Get off of my table, please."

For a few seconds the four women just stared and blinked at him blankly. Then they obeyed.

They evacuated from Kalon’s table, leaving him alone to eat his meal in peace. People stopped staring now that they saw him get serious.

Anyone that might have been recording in hopes of getting a viral video stopped as well.

Only after five minutes was Kalon approached again.

He looked up and it was Thea, looking beautiful as ever. Today, instead of wearing a skirt, she wore black pants that flared out at the bottom. The upper section hugged her thighs and glutes tightly, revealing her crafted shape.

She looked hesitant as she approached Kalon.

Kalon’s smile eased her worries.

She sat on the table opposite him, and the pair felt the eyes on them.

Everyone wondered whether Thea would be treated like the others were.

Of course she wouldn’t. After all, she was Kalon’s only friend on earth.

"Did you see the bracket?" Thea broke the silence between them.

Kalon nodded his head and smiled wider.

"Yeah, I did. It will be an easy win for us."
