Chapter 734: Chapter 735: Master and I Give Wu Wang Ideas Together!

If Chen Baiqing’s suppression of Cui Hao was that of a more powerful, flawless version of the same species...

Then Li Yingling’s suppression of Cui Hao was pure predator to prey.

Li Yingling neither fell for Cui Hao’s con artist routine nor cared about his pitiful act. Her method for dealing with Cui Hao was simple yet brutally effective — you bullshit Junior Brother, take a punch from your Eldest Senior Sister!

Cui Hao clearly didn’t enjoy getting beaten up. He had no peculiar tastes in that regard.

But these nursery rhymes he’d written... if this got out, he’d definitely get an education from Eldest Senior Sister’s iron fist.

But if he tried to weasel out of it... given Eldest Senior Sister’s personality, he’d probably take two extra punches.

Confess and be lenient, or resist and be punished?

Li Yingling watched Cui Hao’s panicked expression, a half-smile playing on her lips:

"Little Cui Hao, why so quiet?"

"Just so pleasantly surprised to see Eldest Senior Sister!" Cui Hao approached with a ingratiating grin, trying to change the subject. "How come you’re here? Shouldn’t you be in Central Province managing things? Is Master here?"

Li Yingling closed the book and watched Cui Hao’s clumsy attempt to deflect, but answered anyway:

"According to Buddhist sect intelligence, the Buddhist Son Wu Wang has already arrived in Southern Zhanbu Continent. If I don’t come personally, I can’t rest easy leaving you bunch of junior brothers and sisters to your own devices."

"As for Master — since I’m here, the overall situation in Central Province naturally falls to him."

"Alright, I’ve answered your questions. This troublemaking Fifth Junior Brother — would you care to explain the nursery rhymes?"

Cui Hao gave a couple of nervous laughs, then thought of the one answer least likely to get him beaten:

"I learned a couple of new nursery rhymes and specifically wrote them to help Master Li with teaching. After all, singing is one of those things — you sing along and you learn naturally. Teaching methods need to be multifaceted these days. Rote memorization is too rigid."

Li Yingling nodded approvingly:

"I underestimated you. I didn’t realize you had such insight."

Cui Hao waved his hands frantically:

"I merely picked up a bit of Eldest Senior Sister’s wisdom from past experience. I learned everything from you."

Li Yingling smiled and nodded, then pulled a sheet of paper from the book and shook it in front of Cui Hao:

"Is this the kind of nursery rhyme you wrote?"

Cui Hao’s gaze naturally fell on it, and the more he looked, the colder his heart became.

The paper in Li Yingling’s hand contained Cui Hao’s very first nursery rhyme masterpiece.

In this rhyme, Cui Hao first attacked Confucian literature as nonsense, claimed Li Junzi’s learning was just chasing after that nonsense, and now Li Junzi planned to bring that nonsense to everyone for them to smell.

It was crudely worded, with considerable attack power.

The cruder the language in a nursery rhyme, the better it spread.

Clearly, this rhyme had spread far and wide.

Cui Hao had earned a handsome sum in real gold and silver from noble families for this one rhyme, and they’d commissioned him to continue his creative output.

"As soon as I arrived here, I heard plenty of children singing this song," Li Yingling said, her eyes narrowing. "If I find out who wrote this, I’ll skin them alive on the spot."

"Oh, and Cui Hao — you’ve been in Xuanwu’s capital for quite a while now. Any news about this?"

Cui Hao froze on the spot. Once again, it was the confess-and-be-lenient-or-resist-and-be-punished dilemma.

After a moment of deliberation, Cui Hao surrendered.

He put on a guilty expression, his voice mournful:

"Eldest Senior Sister... I wrote it, but I had my reasons..."

"Enough." Li Yingling cut him off, taking back the paper. "As expected, Little Baiqing is still Little Baiqing — she can keep you in line."

Cui Hao stared at Li Yingling, somewhat stunned.

Li Yingling didn’t speak. She simply channeled spiritual energy into the book, and a new sheet of paper floated out from its pages.

Cui Hao looked at it and silently swallowed — this was his second version of the nursery rhyme.

"Since you’ve come clean this time, as your Eldest Senior Sister, I naturally have the magnanimity to match." Li Yingling placed the paper back into the book, then turned. "I won’t educate you this time. As for your reasons — Master Li has already explained them to me."

Li Yingling walked toward the small room where Li Junzi had secluded herself to write, gesturing for Cui Hao to follow.

Cui Hao wasn’t sure how he felt about this. He hurried after her, trailing close behind Eldest Senior Sister.

As soon as he entered the room, Cui Hao found that everyone else had already arrived.

Li Xingtian, Chen Baiqing, and Lin Luoyu all turned their gazes to appraise him, looking him up and down as if checking where Eldest Senior Sister had hit him.

Li Junzi’s gaze carried a hint of concern as it settled on him.

Cui Hao silently rejoiced — clearly, this had been a test Eldest Senior Sister had set up just for him, and by following his heart, he’d successfully avoided it!

Li Yingling entered the room, first nodding with a light smile at Li Junzi, then naturally taking the lead:

"Intelligence from the Buddhist sect — Wu Wang has personally arrived in Southern Zhanbu Continent to supervise the trial rollout there."

Li Yingling’s composure was impeccable. Over the past twenty-odd years, she’d genuinely handled many of her Master’s affairs and made numerous decisions.

When she spoke, a natural authority emanated from her. Her tone was calm, yet it made people instinctively trust her judgment.

Cui Hao had been working alongside Chen Baiqing lately, and with Eldest Senior Sister always busy, their contact had been limited. Now, this aura of hers made Cui Hao feel like Eldest Senior Sister had completed an evolution.

Li Yingling was long accustomed to this and continued naturally:

"The noble families wield knowledge as their authority, intending to secure their wealth for ten thousand years."

"They also believe the monarch will resist the new policy for the sake of national stability and their loyalty."

"Naturally, without an outside force to break this thousand-year tacit understanding, events would likely unfold exactly as those nobles imagine."

"Therefore, the purpose of bringing in the Buddhist sect is to shatter these understandings."

"Throughout history, the Buddhist sect has flourished in the mortal world not only because its core doctrines serve the needs of emperors, but also because it has the backing of one of Central Province’s Eighteen Immortal Sects as its ultimate shield."

"Therefore, throughout history, there has never been a situation of rejecting the Buddhist sect."

"As for how to provoke conflict between the noble families and the Buddhist sect — that’s the simplest matter: tangible benefits."

"The Buddhist sect wants to push the Small Vehicle, but naturally can’t send all of its own Arhats and Bodhisattvas. What ultimately needs to be promoted are the ordinary temple monks who’ve always practiced Buddhism in the mortal world."

"Master and I gave Wu Wang a reminder: pushing the Small Vehicle is inherently a thankless task. Even with the Buddhist sect’s decree, without benefits, smooth implementation is impossible."

"Moreover, immortal sects can’t overly interfere in mortal dynasties. When the benefits are shared among everyone, only then will people be willing to push it together."

"So, Master and I gave Wu Wang an idea."

"Temples recognized by the Buddhist sect to promote the Small Vehicle may accept ’Land Offering’ — meaning temples allow believers to donate land to the temple. This land won’t be owned by the temple itself, but by the Central Province Buddhist Sect."

"In other words, the donated land belongs to the Central Province Buddhist Sect — only the benefits flow down to the temples."

Li Xingtian listened with deep emotion — this was clearly a shell game of protection. But one thing puzzled him, so he asked:

"But how would the noble families donate land to the Buddhist temples? Would they resort to cultivator methods?"

Li Yingling shook her head with a light laugh:

"What a crude approach. We immortals naturally conduct ourselves with integrity and openness."

"The Buddhist sect pushing the Small Vehicle — besides refining oneself, naturally also does its utmost to help others cross the sea of suffering."

"After all, without believers and without benefits, why would anyone trust your Small Vehicle?"

"So, Master and I gave Wu Wang another idea."
