The night air, thick with the evening breeze, slipped through the crack in the car window. Claire Bennett’s fingertips tightened on the steering wheel as she repeatedly glanced at the man resting with his eyes closed in the back seat.

She had wanted to help Adrian Lancaster into the passenger seat, to have him a little closer, but he refused to cooperate, insisting on sitting in the back.

Claire Bennett had no choice but to go along with it. If she was too defiant and upset him, he might refuse to even ride in her car.

’She knew how to weigh her options.’

"President Lancaster, just hang on a little longer. We’ll be there soon."

Adrian Lancaster leaned back languidly against the seat, his brow slightly furrowed. A perfect flush colored his cheeks, making him look completely intoxicated and drowsy.

He lowered his gaze, concealing the coldness in his eyes.

A moment later, his left hand slipped into his pocket and secretly switched on the recording pen he had prepared earlier.

The car pulled smoothly into a secluded high-end resort hotel in the suburbs.

The place was extremely private, rarely disturbed by the outside world. It was a spot Claire Bennett had carefully chosen.

She parked in a designated spot, immediately got out after turning off the engine, opened the back door, and reached in to unbuckle Adrian Lancaster’s seatbelt.

"President Lancaster, we’re here. Let me help you out of the car."

Adrian Lancaster seemed to unconsciously turn his head, subtly avoiding Claire Bennett’s touch. A low grunt escaped his throat, but his eyes remained closed.

Claire Bennett’s fingers met empty air. She paused for a second, but wasn’t annoyed in the slightest, assuming Adrian Lancaster was just incredibly drunk.

"President Lancaster, I know you feel sick. Just bear with it a little longer. Once I help you out of the car and get you to the room, you’ll feel better lying in bed."

She unbuckled Adrian Lancaster’s seatbelt as she spoke, her movements tinged with impatience.

This time, Adrian Lancaster endured it and didn’t refuse.

Claire Bennett supported his arm with one hand and wrapped her other around his waist, using all her strength to half-carry, half-support him out of the car.

The man was tall and well-built. Even with his drunken demeanor, his weight was far more than a woman could easily handle.

After just a few steps, beads of sweat formed on Claire Bennett’s forehead, but her face was still filled with joy as she guided Adrian Lancaster into the hotel lobby.

She was a VIP client here. The hotel’s true owners were the Marshall Family.

The lobby was brightly lit, the atmosphere elegant and luxurious.

Claire Bennett helped Adrian Lancaster to the front desk and took out her ID to check in.

"A deluxe suite on the top floor, please. The one with the most privacy."

After verifying her information, the front desk staff quickly completed the procedure and respectfully handed over the room key.

Claire Bennett clutched the key card tightly and guided Adrian Lancaster into the private elevator. A small, hot flame ignited in her heart, making her eager to do something right away.

The elevator ascended slowly, the mirrored walls reflecting their intertwined figures.

She turned her head to look at the chiseled profile of the man beside her, his apparent drunkenness adding a lazy, seductive charm.

Claire Bennett’s heartbeat grew more and more erratic. She couldn’t resist the urge to move closer to him.

"President Lancaster, you’re so handsome and masculine. And you have such a great body. No wonder so many women are crazy about you."

"Even the coldest woman would break into a happy smile just by looking at you."

Adrian Lancaster frowned impatiently, pretending he hadn’t heard a thing.

"President Lancaster..." Claire Bennett’s voice was coquettish. She stood on her tiptoes, raising a hand to smooth the crease between his brows.

Adrian Lancaster "unconsciously" turned his head and shifted his body, avoiding her touch.

Claire Bennett: "..."

DING. The elevator doors slid open to a silent, softly lit hallway on the top floor.

Claire Bennett swiped the key card and opened the suite door.

The presidential suite was spacious and opulent, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the suburban nightscape. The furnishings were exquisite and sophisticated, exuding style at every turn.

She struggled to help Adrian Lancaster into the bedroom and settled him on the edge of the bed.

In just a few minutes, Claire Bennett was drenched in sweat. Her left leg had taken some strain and was aching faintly.

But she didn’t care at all. She was more than willing to wait on Adrian Lancaster.

"President Lancaster, it’s quiet now. No one will disturb us. I’ll go get a towel to wipe your face. It’ll make you feel more comfortable."

Hearing Claire Bennett’s footsteps fade away, Adrian Lancaster opened his eyes. A flash of bone-chilling coldness and ridicule crossed his gaze.

Soon, Claire Bennett returned to the bedroom with a hot, damp towel. She stood by the bed, bent over, and gently wiped Adrian Lancaster’s face.

Even though his eyes were tightly shut, she gazed at him with deep affection.

"Feeling better? If you like, I can wipe down the rest of your body too..."

Claire Bennett let out a low, teasing laugh.

She didn’t actually try to wipe his body, afraid of provoking him.

Putting the towel down, Claire Bennett poured a glass of warm water, sat beside Adrian Lancaster, and gently cradled the back of his neck. She coaxed him softly, "President Lancaster, drink some water, or you’ll have a headache tomorrow."

She brought the glass to his lips, her posture gentle and considerate.

However, Adrian Lancaster didn’t cooperate. Feigning drunken annoyance, he pushed Claire Bennett away.

"Don’t want it."

The sudden push caused some water to spill from the glass, and Claire Bennett nearly stumbled and fell.

"!!!"

’If it had been anyone else, she would have lost her temper by now. She would have thrown every last drop of water in their face.’

But since it was Adrian Lancaster, she couldn’t bring herself to do that to him. She retracted all her sharp edges and thorns, leaving only gentleness and consideration.

"It seems President Lancaster doesn’t like plain water. That’s fine. If you don’t want to drink, you don’t have to."

Claire Bennett put the glass down and immediately took out her phone to call the front desk.

"Please send a warm sobering-up soup to the top-floor suite right away, along with some light snacks to go with it. Thank you."

After hanging up, she sat quietly beside Adrian Lancaster, her adoring gaze tracing his features—his brows, his eyes, his cheeks—with deep affection.

She had waited for this day for too long, endured too much hardship, and suffered too much.

Now, Adrian Lancaster was right in front of her. All she had to do was be a little braver, get a little closer, and she would get everything she desired.

Claire Bennett naively believed that as long as they slept together and made things irreversible, once she had Adrian Lancaster tonight, she could replace Wren Sutton and become the rightful Mrs. Lancaster.

"President Lancaster, just hang on a little longer. The sobering-up soup will be here soon. After you drink it, you can sleep comfortably."

The woman’s hand couldn’t help but rest on Adrian Lancaster’s shoulder as she tried to lean into his arms.

Before her fingertips could even apply pressure, Adrian Lancaster’s body swayed, and he fell sideways onto the soft bed.

His brow furrowed slightly, and a few muffled groans escaped his throat, making his drunken state seem all the more real.

Claire Bennett knelt by the bed, studying Adrian Lancaster closely.

The man had shed his usual cold, sharp demeanor. Now, his features were relaxed, the flush on his face spreading to the tips of his ears. His eyelashes cast faint shadows beneath his eyes.

He had less of the ruthless decisiveness he displayed in the business world and more of a captivating, lazy allure that made it impossible to look away.

"President Lancaster, your eyelashes are even longer than a woman’s. I’m so jealous. How did they get so long? I want long eyelashes like these, too."

Claire Bennett’s heart burned as she watched him. Just as her fingertips were about to touch his eyes, there was a knock at the door.

She slowly withdrew her hand, suppressed the fluttering in her heart, stood up, smoothed her dress, and walked toward the door.

Claire Bennett opened the door to find a server with a food cart. The server respectfully handed her the porcelain bowl of sobering-up soup and the delicate snacks.

"Please enjoy."

Without a word, Claire Bennett shut the door with a cold expression.

She carried the soup back to the bedside and placed the bowl on the nightstand.

Then she painstakingly helped Adrian Lancaster sit up, leaning him against the headboard.

"President Lancaster, wake up. Drink the soup before you go to sleep, or your stomach will feel awful."

"How about I feed it to you?"

Adrian Lancaster lifted his eyelids. His hazy, unfocused gaze fell on Claire Bennett, as if he couldn’t recognize the person in front of him at all.

Claire Bennett scooped up a spoonful of soup, blew on it gently to cool it, and brought it to his lips.

Adrian Lancaster shook his head in disgust. "Don’t want it."

Claire Bennett coaxed him patiently, her voice gentle. "President Lancaster, be good. You’ll feel better after you drink it. Try it if you don’t believe me. I’m not lying to you."

Adrian Lancaster remained firm in his rejection. "I don’t like it."

Claire Bennett froze for a moment. Then, as if a thought occurred to her, she smiled.

"I get it now. President Lancaster doesn’t like drinking soup from a spoon. He prefers another way, for example..."

"Mouth to mouth."

She leaned in close to Adrian Lancaster, her nose almost touching his neck. She could clearly smell the mix of alcohol and a crisp, woody fragrance on him. Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it would burst from her chest.

"No problem. I’m happy to be of service to President Lancaster. I couldn’t ask for anything more."
