Chapter 1452: Chapter 685: Intersecting Singularity_3
This really is...
"None of that stuff matters at all! So who the hell is that Old Immortal Nanhua!?"
The Second Child had clearly also sharply picked up on the first and most crucial variable. He actually lunged forward, grabbed Tie Dan by the shoulders, stared wide-eyed and pressed him,
"In a single night? Wiped out the whole Xiaoyao Sect? Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how strong that Yuan Jiuxiao bastard is? Back then the four of us joined forces and only barely managed to suppress him. And even then he smashed us up so badly our Dao shattered and we had no choice but to undergo Soldier Disintegration! In one night!? Wipe out Xiaoyao Dao!? What kind of joke are you pulling!?"
Tie Dan looked at him, seeing that he was on the verge of another mental breakdown. He stayed silent for a while, then felt that at this point there was no need to hide anything, and spoke plainly,
"It’s no joke. The Jiuxiao Taoist Lord sacrificed every member of Xiaoyao to summon Nan Hua into the world. That night you were scared out of your mind, which led to a whole mess afterward.
That Grand Tutor is one of your incarnations, that Sect Hierarch is probably also one of your incarnations. And all sorts of Evil Demons and Heretics, probably a whole lot of them are your incarnations too, because you’re afraid of dying.
Yes. Exactly because you’re afraid of death, you ran to this world, just so you wouldn’t have to face Nan Hua, wouldn’t have to face those beings that are even stronger than Nan Hua.
Just because you’re afraid of death. That’s why humanity is going to be destroyed.
The Second Child was stunned,
"It’s... all because of me..."
Tie Dan nodded and sheathed the sword.
"That’s right, it’s all because of you.
Because you are humanity’s Daoist, the embodiment of humanity’s collective will, the once-in-a-millennium incarnation of the Heavenly Dao, the brave man who saves all living beings.
Your own responsibility you refused to shoulder, your own fate you refused to change, your own world you refused to save—you just patted your ass, turned around, and ran. So all those people who relied on you, trusted you, and were left behind by you, of course they have to pay the price.
But then, you can’t really be blamed either. After all you are just a person. When directly facing a crisis of life and death, of course people try every possible way to run, to use any means to survive—that’s human nature.
Humans, well, there’s always a time when the load breaks their back, when they can’t hold on and collapse, when they’re exhausted and worn out and don’t want to care about anything anymore, just want to escape. It’s nothing extraordinary.
Besides, I’ve always felt that there was never any need for some Daoist, brave man, or savior to make decisions for humanity. One’s own fate should remain in one’s own hands right up to the very end. Every calamity has to be crossed by you, every Demon has to be slain by you, every burden has to be carried by the Daoist—that never really made sense.
If humanity really has fallen to the point where, except for you, no one can save it, then it might as well be wiped out.
So if you’re really that terrified, then run. Just hide in the back, go home, go live the life you want.
I’ll carry your burden. When the time comes, I’ll go do the sword fighting.
Not for you, and not for anyone else, just so that at the very very end, I too can hold my own fate in my hands."
The Second Child fell silent for the moment, stopped calculating, just lowered his head without a word, no one knew what he was thinking.
Tie Dan didn’t bother with him any further. With a single step he walked out of the Second Child’s dreamscape, and the Illusion Realm before his eyes turned into an utterly ordinary little village.
There was a boy using an iron sword as his pillow, lying on a hillside, chewing grass together with his cow, watching the clouds in the sky.
"Hey~ blockhead! Waiting for me again! Here, catch!"
The boy and Tie Dan turned their heads to look, and saw a grimy little country girl, carrying a basket, leaning on a pole, barefoot, hopping out of the woods, raising her hand to toss over a melon.
The boy snatched it out of the air, broke it open with his calloused hands, and gave half to the cow.
"Thanks. So sweet."
"Hey! You share with the cow but not with me!"
The country girl hopped over, using the pole to scratch the cow’s itch,
"Lazybones again, still not practicing sword. How are you going to roam the land righting wrongs and defending the innocent in the future! If your dad finds out he won’t tan your hide?"
"It’s fine, I’ve got so many older brothers, Hero Chen and the others can go do it!"
The boy munched on the melon,
"All that fighting and killing, what’s the point, really? Better to feel the breeze and watch the clouds. Hey hey, look, that cloud looks just like a poop!"
"Really, really, I want to see too! Hahaha it really does look like a poop!"
The country girl flopped down beside him to look, bursting out in carefree laughter, snatching the melon from the boy’s hand to bite into it together, her laughter as sweet as the melon itself.
Tie Dan watched from the side for a while, and, not wishing to disturb their peaceful dream, opened his eyes and woke up alone.
