"Mhm," Georgia Thorne said. "Is he in?"

"He is. You can go right up."

"Okay, thank you."

The young woman at the front desk was pleasantly surprised, not expecting Mrs. Sheridan to be so approachable.

When Georgia Thorne reached the top floor, Elliot Sheridan was in his office, fuming.

Owen Sawyer wasn’t around, so the remaining secretaries and assistants could only exchange glances and nudge each other, none of them willing to take the file in.

The boss was furious, and no one wanted to walk into the line of fire at a time like this.

For them, Georgia Thorne’s arrival was nothing short of salvation.

"Mrs. Sheridan, hello!" several secretaries called out in unison.

The resounding chorus startled Georgia Thorne. "Hello!"

Georgia had hardly ever visited Elliot Sheridan’s company since their marriage. ’So many people here know who I am.’

Who in Portmire didn’t know that the city’s most handsome and eligible bachelor, Elliot Sheridan, was a married man? A photo of the two of them kissing under fireworks had gone viral online.

Besides, Georgia Thorne was quite famous in her own right. There wasn’t a single person in the entire company who didn’t recognize her as the boss’s wife.

For every person who envied Georgia Thorne, there was another who was jealous, convinced their marriage wouldn’t last.

But in reality, the two had kept a low profile since marrying, giving the media no leads to follow.

The only exception was Georgia Thorne’s social media, where she would occasionally post photos from her daily life over the past year and a half.

Anyone who saw the photos would be surprised to learn that Elliot Sheridan wasn’t some ethereal being above it all—he was just like a normal person.

Georgia Thorne patted her chest. "Excuse me, is Elliot Sheridan in there?"

"He is, Mrs. Sheridan. You’ve come at the perfect time." The secretary holding the file rushed forward, offering it to Georgia Thorne. "Mrs. Sheridan, could you possibly take this file in to President Sheridan?"

"...Okay!" Georgia Thorne agreed in a daze.

She took the file and knocked. Elliot Sheridan’s cold roar erupted from within. "Well? Get the hell in here!"

’Yikes! Why is he so short-tempered?’

Georgia Thorne glanced back at the cluster of secretaries behind her. Every one of them was looking at her with a pitiful expression that clearly said, ’Please, help us.’

Georgia Thorne broke out in a sweat. She pushed the door open and went inside.

"I asked you to find one piece of information. What’s taking so long!" he demanded, forcefully tapping a pen on the desk with a sharp sound.

Georgia Thorne cleared her throat and stood before his desk. "It’s me."

Elliot Sheridan looked up, his voice instantly softening. "What are you doing here?"

Georgia Thorne dropped the file on his desk. "Why are you in such a foul mood? Your secretaries are too scared to even come in!"

"They had you bring this in?" Elliot Sheridan frowned, glanced at the file, then set it aside.

"What else? I never realized you were so terrifying when you get angry!" Georgia Thorne shrugged.

It was truly hard to imagine how he managed to be so patient with their daughter when he could be like this.

Georgia Thorne rarely saw Elliot Sheridan’s work persona—decisive and swift, flying into a rage over the smallest mistake from a subordinate.

What she didn’t know was that the company needed exactly this kind of boss.

A small mistake could often snowball into a major disaster. Only when he was this strict would his team actually use their heads and get things done right.

"Alright, alright, stop being angry. Calm down!" Georgia Thorne went to his side and began rubbing his chest soothingly.

Elliot Sheridan was speechless. He simply couldn’t get angry at Georgia Thorne.

The secretaries outside were pressed against the door, eavesdropping, but they couldn’t hear a thing.

’The boss’s wife must have calmed the President down. If it had been any one of us, we’d have been chewed out and thrown out by now.’

It was Elliot Sheridan who had helped solve the problem of her studio space, too.

As a businessman, Elliot Sheridan had a good eye.

Take, for instance, the property before them, which was to become her studio.

It was in a prime location with a great atmosphere, convenient public transport, and a correspondingly high price tag.

Without Georgia Thorne’s knowledge, he had singled out this property and bought it.

President Sheridan was known for being a big spender, and he’d closed the deal with a single, non-negotiable offer.

This studio was Georgia Thorne’s birthday present.

When he led Georgia Thorne to the studio’s front door, she was utterly astonished. "You..."

Seraphina Goldsmith was busy abroad, so Georgia Thorne had been looking for a studio all by herself.

Every time she was online looking for properties, this man would just watch quietly from the side, not offering any opinion.

She never thought he would actually... give this to her as a birthday present.

"Want to go in for a tour?" Elliot Sheridan asked, placing the key in her palm, his gaze filled with affection.

To say she wasn’t thrilled would be a lie. Georgia Thorne had been eyeing this property for a long time, but she’d always thought it was too expensive and could only dream.

It was just as beautiful as in the photos—simple yet elegant. All it needed was for them to move their things in.

Georgia Thorne looked over the entire place, inside and out, top to bottom, then linked her arm with Elliot Sheridan’s and asked, "How much is the annual rent here?"

"It’s not expensive. All I ask is that you pay me back with your body every night."

The longer she was with Elliot Sheridan, the better she understood the mischievous streak at his core.

He wasn’t nearly as prim and proper as his appearance suggested.

"You bought this place?"

"What do you think?" Elliot Sheridan snorted. "You were always saying I wasn’t genuinely supportive of you starting your own business. You still dare to say that now?" he asked, giving her cheek a firm pinch.

Georgia Thorne threw her arms around his waist. "Darling, you’re too good to me!"

’I’m so moved I could cry!’

"As long as you know."

With the studio secured, the next step was to build a team.

Sylvie and Felix Sinclair, who had previously worked under her, both asked to come work for her the moment they heard she was opening a studio.

Besides Sylvie and Felix Sinclair, there was also Vivian Sawyer from her time at Archetype Company.

With the team assembled, the studio officially launched as soon as Seraphina Goldsmith returned from Akashima.

Many clients came just for Seraphina Goldsmith’s stellar reputation. Not feeling the least bit overwhelmed, Seraphina took on several projects at once.

"Do you have to work yourself to the bone like this?" Georgia Thorne asked, often seeing her friend so busy that she skipped lunch, her eyes glued to the computer screen.

She took a sip of water. "I can’t help it. I’m a bit short on cash right now."

"Short on cash? Is it urgent? Do you want me to lend you some?"

"No need, I can handle it." After speaking, she went back to her design drafts.

The studio had just opened, and everyone was very busy.

Georgia Thorne was busy too, constantly running around.

For the first few days after opening, the workload was manageable, and she could get home on time every day.

Gradually, the clients increased, and the design drafts began to pile up. She wasn’t just meeting clients; she was also coordinating with the head of the dyeing factory, which meant she was constantly on the move.

Georgia Thorne was grateful that she hadn’t been completely idle over the past year.

At least she had gotten her driver’s license.

She drove all over the city, and on busy days, she wouldn’t get back until midnight.

By that time, their child would already be asleep, and Elliot Sheridan would be sitting on the sofa, waiting for her.

Elliot Sheridan was not happy about Georgia Thorne coming home so late and watched her with a stern expression.

Georgia Thorne had been running around all day and hadn’t even eaten dinner; by now, she was ravenous.

She glanced nervously at the clock. It was already ten.

"I’m home!" Georgia Thorne said, guiltily stealing a glance at the man in the living room.

Elliot Sheridan just grunted, his expression grim.

She had promised him that she would be home by six-thirty every day.

But lately, with more and more to do, she kept coming home later and later.

Elliot Sheridan was already quite displeased about this trend.

"Where’s Nina?"

"What do you think?"

"She’s asleep already!" she said, awkwardly scratching her hair. She didn’t dare look at Elliot Sheridan’s face. ’He really is angry.’

As if talking to herself, she guiltily walked toward Elliot Sheridan.

Just as she sat down on the sofa, the man who was sitting there abruptly stood up and went to the kitchen.

When a woman is angry, she usually needs to be coaxed. The same is true for men.

She dashed after his retreating figure and threw her arms around him from behind.

Elliot Sheridan was a proud man, after all. "Let go!" he said sharply.

"I won’t!" Georgia Thorne said cheekily, pressing her face against his back.

No matter what he said, she absolutely wouldn’t let go, hugging him even tighter.

"Don’t be angry anymore. I know I was wrong!"

"..."

The man in her arms fell silent. Unable to see his expression, Georgia quickly added, "I promise, today is the last time. I’ll definitely be back on time tomorrow!"

"Okay? Please forgive me just this once?"

Georgia Thorne wheedled, clinging to him. This move was usually very effective; he almost always gave in.

The kitchen was silent. Georgia Thorne’s heart, pressed against his back, was pounding wildly.

Elliot Sheridan felt it clearly, and his resolve inevitably softened. The truth was, he could never bear to be angry with Georgia Thorne.

"Georgia..."

RUMBLE... RUMBLE...

Elliot Sheridan had been steeling himself to speak, but just as he called her name, a strange sound interrupted him.

The strange sound came from Georgia Thorne’s empty stomach, followed by a few more rumbles.

Georgia Thorne let go of him, laughing nervously. "I was so busy today I didn’t even eat dinner. So... darling, don’t be angry anymore, okay?"

"Georgia Thorne, you... get out!"

The face that had just softened immediately tensed up again, his dark eyes simmering with anger.

He was even angrier than before.

Georgia Thorne stuck out her tongue and walked out with her head hanging low.

A little while later, the sounds of cooking drifted from the kitchen.

Georgia Thorne peeked curiously into the kitchen. She saw Elliot Sheridan with his back to her, working a spatula over the stove.
