Secret Marriage: The CEO's Pampered Wife
Chapter 362 - 346: Naomi Shaw is Georgia Thorne’s Mother?
Georgia Thorne was naturally happy to be accepted by Aidan Sheridan.
Sharon Ennis came out of the kitchen. "You’re back so early! Just a moment, dinner will be ready soon!"
"Mom!"
Georgia tried to go into the kitchen to help, but Sharon Ennis pushed her right out. "You’re an expectant mother now. You can’t be around all these cooking fumes. Go out and chat with Sharon."
Georgia smiled helplessly as Elliot Sheridan walked over and led her to the living room.
"Dad, we’re back!" Elliot announced, leading Georgia to James Sheridan’s side.
James Sheridan was in the middle of a game of Go with Byron Shaw. It was a critical moment. He lifted his eyelids, glanced at the couple, then immediately focused his attention back on the board.
"Just put it here. What’s there to think about?"
Elliot picked up a black stone from the side and placed it in a corner of the board, perfectly countering Byron Shaw’s move.
James Sheridan exclaimed in exasperation, "Don’t you know the rule about spectators keeping quiet? I was thinking! Why did you have to interfere?!"
Without even looking up, Elliot said, "I was helping you."
"Get lost! Do I need your help? Don’t I have my own hands? Don’t I know how to play?!" James Sheridan huffed, fuming.
Elliot gave a lazy grunt. "I saw you didn’t know where to place your stone, so I kindly helped you out. At this rate, I doubt you’d even finish the game by tomorrow morning."
"You brat!"
James Sheridan was so angry his chest hurt. He just watched as Elliot raised his eyebrows and said, "This game... you’ve lost."
Byron Shaw placed a white stone on the board. The outcome of the game was now clear.
Elliot’s earlier move had only delayed the inevitable for James Sheridan. Byron Shaw had already laid his trap; no matter the move, it was a dead end.
In other words, if it had been Elliot playing from the start, there might have been a chance to win.
Of course, he would have had to go easy on his uncle-in-law.
When dinner began, Byron Shaw took his seat as the guest.
Sharon Ennis and James Sheridan both believed it was entirely thanks to Byron Shaw that Elliot had been able to get out of prison.
Everyone was enjoying the cheerful meal when, midway through, Georgia called Byron Shaw "Uncle," which startled Sharon Ennis.
"Georgia, what did you just call him?"
Georgia thought for a moment and decided it was best to clarify her relationship with Byron Shaw.
’It’s better to reveal everything myself than to have someone else dig it up. They’re going to find out sooner or later anyway.’
Just as Georgia was about to speak, Elliot pressed her hand under the table. "Mom, you couldn’t tell from that?"
’Byron Shaw is Georgia Thorne’s uncle, and Naomi Shaw and Byron Shaw are siblings... so that means Georgia is Naomi’s daughter?’
’And my eldest son, Carter Sheridan, was in love with Georgia’s mother, Naomi Shaw... they were even about to get married?’
What kind of a tangled mess was this? Sharon Ennis’s thoughts were in a complete jumble.
"Mom, why else do you think Attorney Shaw would help me?"
Sharon Ennis was speechless. "Er..."
The number of people who wanted to hire Byron Shaw as their defense attorney was countless; he wouldn’t even glance at an ordinary case.
Honestly, if it weren’t for Georgia’s connection, Byron Shaw would have never gotten involved in Elliot’s case.
Besides, Elliot had more than enough evidence on hand. Even with a different lawyer, it was a case he was 100% guaranteed to win.
The only reason they sought him out was entirely because of Georgia.
They were related to Georgia by blood. It was impossible for them not to acknowledge each other for their entire lives. Elliot’s move was also to make things less awkward for everyone in the future.
Once the lawsuit was won, Sharon Ennis and the others would surely see Byron Shaw as Elliot’s savior.
It was a win-win situation, so why not?
Although Naomi Shaw never said it, Byron Shaw knew that there wasn’t a mother in the world who didn’t miss her own daughter.
Sharon Ennis was so shocked she was speechless, not knowing what to say.
This revelation had clearly terrified her. Carter Sheridan had almost married Naomi Shaw.
If they had actually gotten married back then, the family relationships would have become a complete mess.
Carter Sheridan had known for a while that Georgia was Naomi Shaw’s daughter. He watched Georgia’s profile in silence.
He and Naomi had always gotten along so well, but she broke up with him right as they were about to get married. It was only when he chased her abroad that he understood why she had rejected him.
It turned out her daughter was Elliot’s wife.
’Fate really does have a cruel sense of humor.’
’But now, I no longer have the right to pursue Naomi. Everything is in the past.’
After dinner, Byron Shaw didn’t stay at the Sheridan residence for long.
"Come back when you have time. I and... my sister will always welcome you," Byron Shaw said, correcting himself after a thought.
Georgia hummed in agreement. "I know."
"See you, Uncle!" As Georgia’s husband, Elliot naturally had to follow her lead and call him Uncle as well.
Byron Shaw was about the same age as him, but Elliot didn’t feel embarrassed calling him Uncle.
Byron Shaw was completely different from Justin Sullivan. This was an "Uncle" that Elliot said with genuine respect.
During Elliot’s absence, the company had been jointly managed by James Sheridan and Carter Sheridan. It wasn’t a total disaster, but it was chaotic enough.
The main issue was the loss of Elliot, their backbone, which sent employee morale throughout the company into disarray.
For the past ten days, the stock price had been continuously falling, leaving everyone on edge.
The next day, Elliot returned to the company and held a press conference to summarize the events of the past few months.
At that moment, Georgia was in her art studio teaching children to draw when she suddenly received a text from Elliot.
"What are you doing?"
Georgia put down her brush. "Teaching kids to draw. You?"
"At a press conference."
Georgia was shocked and fired back a frantic reply, "You’re still texting me? Aren’t you afraid of getting caught?!"
"I won’t be. If you don’t believe me, watch the live broadcast and you’ll see."
Speechless, Georgia turned on the TV and found the live news broadcast.
Elliot sat at the front table with a deadpan expression, his gaze slightly lowered. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought he was listening intently.
She had only been watching for a moment when another text from Elliot came through. "I’ll come pick you up later."
"Okay. Just focus on your meeting for now."
"I’m watching you on TV right now!"
Georgia rarely saw Elliot on television. He was a low-key person who disliked being filmed by reporters. Usually, even if he was caught on camera, journalists wouldn’t dare to casually post the footage or photos.
But honestly, seeing Elliot in the center of the frame felt a bit like watching a celebrity.
’He’s pretty handsome from the side.’
Elliot had just finished the press conference in the morning, and by that afternoon, Weibo was in an uproar.
Someone had screencapped a picture of Elliot’s side profile, and he did indeed look very handsome.
Georgia silently saved the image. ’My husband’s side profile is just perfect.’
Elliot found out her work schedule from Sam Yates and showed up before she was even done for the day.
She was standing near the doorway, bent over to teach a new child how to practice basic lines, when the quiet art studio suddenly erupted with noise.
The child she was teaching suddenly twisted their head to look outside, then looked up at Georgia. "Thorne."
"Hm?"
"There’s a big uncle standing outside."
Georgia turned her head and saw Elliot standing at the door. She glanced down at the time; there was still over half an hour left until class ended.
"You can practice on your own for a bit." Georgia put down her brush and walked outside. "Why are you here so early?"
"There was nothing to do at the company. I was bored, so I just came over," Elliot said.
Georgia didn’t believe him for a second. A company that large, which had kept James Sheridan and Carter Sheridan busy from morning till night, couldn’t possibly have ’nothing to do’.
’If anything, there should be even more work.’
"But I still have another half hour before I’m finished here!"
"It’s fine. You do your thing. I’ll just wait here."
Georgia was at a loss for words. "Er..."
Elliot was true to his word. For the next half hour, Georgia focused on her work, and Elliot didn’t bother her, sitting quietly to one side.
She glanced over at Elliot several times and noticed he was talking to a few of the little boys.
Although he looked fierce on the surface, he was quite gentle with children.
When it came to children, Elliot had a complicated, hard-to-describe feeling.
He used to find kids annoying, but now that Georgia was pregnant, he had begun to look forward to the arrival of their child with immense anticipation.
He was starting to long for a stable life with his wife and children.
After she got off work, Elliot drove. Midway, he made a phone call to say they wouldn’t be coming home for dinner.
"Where are we going?" Georgia asked curiously.
"To Ethan Fletcher’s place."
Perfect. It had been a while since she’d been to Ethan Fletcher’s restaurant, and she was starting to miss the food.
She also missed their alcohol.
’Too bad I’m pregnant and can’t drink.’
Georgia shot a mournful look at Elliot. He had already drunk more than half of the bottle of alcohol on the table.
The private room was filled with the rich aroma of alcohol, yet all she could do was stare.
"Want a sip?" Elliot suddenly poured a full glass and looked at Georgia.
Georgia nodded eagerly. She’d been trying to signal him for ages, staring so hard her eyes were about to pop out. ’Did he only just notice?’
Elliot gave a wicked smile, raised the glass, and took a large gulp. Then, he pinched Georgia’s chin and pulled her toward him.
Their warm lips met. He pushed his tongue against her teeth, passing all of the alcohol from his mouth to hers.
The kiss was completely unexpected. Georgia’s eyes went wide, and then, angry, she opened her mouth and bit his tongue.
Alcohol trickled from the corners of their mouths. Georgia wiped her lips and huffed angrily, "Pervert!"
Elliot leaned closer. ’She’s actually pretty cute when she’s angry.’
"Are you angry?"
Georgia glared at him from the side of her eyes and pushed him away forcefully. "Don’t talk to me!"
