Elliot lowered his head, his gaze fixed on Georgia’s face. When his eyes landed on her red lips, he couldn’t resist leaning in. He threaded his fingers through her damp hair and captured her lips with his.

Longing was a poison, and when it built up until it threatened to burst from his chest, he needed an antidote.

Georgia was his antidote. His kiss was fierce and demanding, taking her completely by surprise. He easily breached her defenses.

He plundered her mouth, savoring her sweetness.

Georgia had no time to react. He had her pinned, spinning her around and pressing her against the kitchen counter.

Her lips were sealed tightly by his, and she could only manage small whimpers. Her waist was pressed hard against the corner of the counter, and she knitted her brows in pain.

She opened her mouth and bit down on Elliot’s tongue, whimpering unconsciously, "It hurts!"

Elliot hummed in response and looked at her earnestly, his eyes glistening. He slid one hand down her back, using the back of it to cushion her waist from the sharp corner of the counter before kissing her again.

Georgia didn’t resist. Deep down, she had missed this man.

She tentatively tried to return his kiss, her glistening eyes gazing up at the man just inches away, looking all the more heart-wrenching.

He released her, resting his forehead against hers. Their heavy breaths mingled in the air between them.

"Give me some more time."

"What?" Georgia took a deep breath, confused by his words.

"My relationship with Quentin Chase isn’t what you think. The child isn’t mine. Just give me some more time, and I promise I’ll give you an explanation."

"How is that possible?" Georgia stared at him in astonishment. "Then whose child is he?"

"I can’t say right now. You’ll know in a little while."

"If he isn’t yours, why did you claim him... No, you must be lying to me again. I don’t believe you!" Georgia put some distance between them, shaking her head. "Not unless you can show me proof!"

’Miles looks so much like him. How could he not be his son?’

"Georgia..."

"You say the child isn’t yours, and I’m just supposed to believe you? If he isn’t yours, then whose is he?"

’If the child really isn’t his, Quentin Chase should know that. So why does she still have the boy call Elliot ’Dad’?’

She was fixated on getting an answer, but Elliot changed the subject. "Georgia, don’t get too close to Erin Irving."

"Don’t try to change the subject!"

She shoved Elliot away and stormed out.

Georgia had barely made it downstairs before Elliot was right behind her.

The elderly couple still had no idea that Quentin Chase had returned with Elliot’s supposed son. They just assumed the young lovebirds were living happily.

Mr. Sheridan had only met Georgia once, but he’d taken a real liking to the girl and worried Elliot would mistreat her.

He lectured Elliot throughout the meal, reminding him that Georgia was a good young woman who deserved to be treated well.

The usually arrogant man took the scolding like a chastened schoolboy, nodding and agreeing to everything.

He even took Georgia’s hand, doting on her tenderly.

Georgia was still angry with him. She tried to pull her hand free from Elliot’s under the table but couldn’t, and she couldn’t make a scene in front of everyone.

She had no choice but to let him hold her hand, shooting a warning glare at him. He simply ignored it. Mr. Sheridan, however, noticed her expression. "Young lady, if this rascal gives you any trouble, you just tell me. I guarantee I’ll help you get him back!"

Georgia gave a strained laugh and tugged harder, but she still couldn’t break free.

Elliot blocked her view of his grandfather. "I’m too busy cherishing her. How could I ever bring myself to bully her?"

Georgia took a sullen sip of her juice and turned her head away.

After dinner, Sharon Ennis brought the birthday cake to the table.

The elderly couple wasn’t fond of cake, let alone singing "Happy Birthday." They just blew out the candles and wrapped things up quickly.

"Grandpa, happy birthday!" Georgia said, joining Elliot in wishing the old man a happy birthday.

After the birthday celebration, it was already nine o’clock.

Georgia glanced at the time, ready to head home.

But to her surprise, Mr. Sheridan and Miss Sheridan announced they were staying the night at the family home. Since Elliot wasn’t leaving, it would have been awkward for Georgia to leave either.

Georgia grew restless as the minutes ticked by. It was already past ten.

As the night wore on, the elderly couple’s energy gave out, and they retired to their rooms to sleep.

Georgia grabbed her purse, ready to leave, but Sharon Ennis stopped her. "It’s so late. Why don’t you just stay here tonight?"

"No, it’s okay. I have things to do tomorrow."

"What do you mean ’it’s okay’? We wouldn’t feel right with you, a young woman, going home alone. At worst, I’ll have Elliot drive you over tomorrow morning." Sharon Ennis was determined, grabbing Georgia’s hand. "Go on to your room and get some sleep!"

"But I..."

"No buts. If Grandpa and Grandma don’t see you tomorrow morning, they’ll be upset. Just stay here tonight, okay?"

Georgia was speechless.

Sharon Ennis, wanting to help them reconcile, pushed Georgia into the bedroom.

Georgia sighed in resignation. ’I just had a fight with Elliot. How am I supposed to be in the same room with him now?’

Georgia was sitting on the bed when she got a call from Byron Shaw. "I’m not coming home tonight," she said.

Georgia’s voice was hesitant over the phone. Byron Shaw was a sharp man and didn’t press her. "Alright, then just stay at your friend’s place."

"Okay." She hung up and let out a long breath, feeling a pang of guilt.

She glanced around the room. It looked the same as she remembered; not much had changed.

’Looks like I have no choice but to sleep here tonight.’

Not feeling the least bit sleepy, Georgia lay quietly on one side of the bed. An unknown amount of time passed, and Elliot still hadn’t returned.

’I think James Sheridan called him into the study for a talk earlier.’

Georgia had spent the entire day at her studio and was exhausted. Her eyelids grew heavy as sleep began to take over.

Just as she was about to drift off, a sound came from the door. Startled, she shot up in bed, her body instantly tense.

Elliot switched on the wall lamp and saw Georgia sitting up in bed. "You’re still awake?"

Georgia shook her head. "Are you going to bed?"

"Something came up at the company. I have to go out for a bit."

"You’re going out this late?"

He grunted in affirmation, opening the closet to pull out a change of clothes. Right in front of Georgia, he stripped off his loungewear and put on a crisp suit.

He started for the door while adjusting his tie, then turned back to look at her. "Don’t wait up for me. You should get some sleep."

He left in a hurry, and the door clicked shut behind him.

Georgia burrowed back under the covers. ’Hmph. As if I was going to wait for you.’

Listening to the car engine start up downstairs, she couldn’t deny the pang of disappointment she felt at his departure.

’So, even when I’m furious with him, a part of me is still holding out hope.’

She rolled over to face the empty side of the bed, her earlier drowsiness now completely gone.

Her thoughts were in a turmoil. ’Is he going to see Quentin Chase?’

The thought of Quentin Chase and the boy was like a needle to her heart, and an intense wave of sorrow washed over her.

She tossed and turned, unable to sleep a wink all night, and got up at the crack of dawn.

’He went to handle "company business" and didn’t come back all night.’

Mr. Sheridan and Miss Sheridan were already eating breakfast. Georgia went over to greet them, and Mr. Sheridan beckoned for her to sit beside him.

After breakfast, Miss Sheridan sought her out for a talk.

"Grandma doesn’t mean anything by it, dear. I just hope you and Elliot can have a good life together. Did you two have a fight last night?"

Georgia lowered her head, her eyes fixed on the tips of her shoes as she quietly denied it. "We didn’t."

"You didn’t? Then why did that rascal go out so late? If you two did fight, you tell your grandma. I’ll go teach him a lesson for you!"

"Grandma, really, we’re fine. We get along great."

"You two definitely fought last night, just putting on an act for us elders. We old folks aren’t blind, you know. If there’s a problem, you should talk about it. If you can’t talk it out, you come to me, and I’ll talk to Elliot for you!" Miss Sheridan patted the back of Georgia’s hand. "All I want is for you and Elliot to be happy. I just hope I can see my great-grandchild before I close my eyes for good."

The conversation had circled back to children. Georgia lowered her head even further and hummed in agreement, her voice barely a whisper.

"That’s good. That puts my mind at ease."

Georgia lifted her gaze to look at her. ’If you want to see a great-grandson,’ she thought, ’Elliot could bring one over for you right this minute.’

The thought had barely formed when Elliot’s words from the night before echoed in her mind.

’He said the child wasn’t his, so he must not be his... right?’

Georgia had to go to her studio today to inspect a new shipment of furniture.

The moment Georgia arrived at the building where her studio was located, a crowd of reporters carrying cameras swarmed her.

"Miss Thorne, what are your thoughts on the Akashima designer Yulia Upton plagiarizing your work?"

"Miss Thorne, we heard you recently resigned from Archetype Company. Was it to start your own independent studio?"

"Miss Thorne..."

Frightened by the sudden rush of reporters, Georgia stumbled backward, unable to get a single word out.

Just then, a strange figure rushed forward, shielding Georgia behind him.

The man turned his head and said in a low voice, "Ma’am, President Sheridan sent me to protect you."

The man was powerfully built. With one arm, he shielded Georgia, forming a protective barrier between her and the reporters.

Georgia didn’t breathe a sigh of relief until she was safely upstairs.

"Thank you," Georgia gasped, catching her breath.

"Protecting you is my duty, Ma’am," the man said in a completely serious tone.

"What’s your name?" Georgia asked, walking to the window to see the crowd of reporters still lingering below.

"My name is Sam Yates. I’m the bodyguard President Sheridan hired to protect you."

"Um, hello, Sam Yates," Georgia said. She paused for a moment before continuing, "Thank you for helping me just now. But I have to say, I don’t need a bodyguard, so you don’t have to protect me."
