Chapter 1393: Another Storm Brewing on the Gala (2)
“I heard that mister and misses Wales had gotten divorced?”
Wales laughed self-deprecatingly before saying, “Yes. She wanted to kill me.”
“Then why did you choose to get divorced? Don’t you want to sue her?”
Ye Tianxin didn’t quite understand his decision. Wales knew that Mrs. Wales wanted to kill him, so why didn’t he report it to the police?
“Sue her? There’s no need to.”
Wales didn’t mind explaining to Ye Tianxin why he wasn’t willing to call the police and let them bring that woman away.
“At my age, I don’t want to become the laughing stock of the people. If I report the case to the police, things would surely get out of control and become blown out of proportion. There is no need for that to happen.”
“On top of which, for someone my age, just living and surviving becomes very boring. I need to find something fun to entertain myself, and she is very good entertainment.”
“When it comes to women, I’ve always been very generous. But who could’ve known that some people’s greed is simply insatiable? She had forgotten that we’d signed a premarital agreement when we got married. In other words, even if I died, she wouldn’t be able to get anything out of it. I can make her famous and elevate her status, but I can also throw her down and stomp her to the ground. Besides, for a woman as brainless as her, I may not even need to do it myself, she’d somehow mess things up and self-destruct on her own accord.”
That’s life, isn’t it?
The young Mrs. Wales was brought into the highest echelons of society by Wales.
After seeing the luxury and wealth of the upper-class, how could she be satisfied with her current state of life?
Ye Tianxin commented casually, “I guess a poor person like me would ever understand.”
......Wales chuckled and said, “Are you poor?”
Wales felt like someone with the temperament and mannerisms of Ye Tianxin couldn’t really be raised in a poor family.
The environments that the poor and the wealthy live in are completely different, which resulted in starkly different values.
Ye Tianxin was obviously not from a poor family.
“Of course I’m poor. I set up a charity foundation. The main purpose of the foundation is to help the children from needy families in the Empire.”
Of course, Wales had done a background check on Ye Tianxin. Given her background, nothing that she does could be considered strange.
“Shall I donate?”
“Sure, thank you very much.”
If Ye Tianxin didn’t save Wales, it was unlikely for her to be able to participate in a prestigious occasion like this. Even if she could participate, she would be at the end of the guest list rather than sitting at the VIP table.
Thanks to Wales, she sat on a VIP seat this time, right beside Wales.
All of those sitting at the table were behemoths in the industry. Wales introduced every one of them to Ye Tianxin in a very gentlemanly manner.
As Ye Tianxin heard their names, she felt that every one of them sounded very familiar.
These people were all experts at social interactions. Naturally, they were all very gracious on an occasion like this, and none of them made Ye Tianxin feel uncomfortable.
A wide array of dishes were served for dinner. There were only tiny portions of food in those comparatively large plates.
An elder gentleman with silver hair asked her, “Ms. Ye, would you be interested in coming to my company and acting in some movies?”
Ye Tianxin shook her head and refused, “Thank you for the invitation. But “Red Cherry” is my first and final movie, I will not be acting for any other movie or TV shows in the future.”
The elderly gentleman said again, “Well, appearing for a cameo is fine as well.”
Ye Tianxin continued to reject him politely, “Thank you very much, but I won’t be acting in any more movies.”
The gala was rather boring, although several famous singers and actors went on stage to perform.
Ye Tianxin wasn’t interested in any of their performances. That said, she did receive a lot of business cards.
She politely received all of these business cards and kept them in the purse that she carried for the gala.
