Chapter 1737 Destroying the Wall

Chapter 1737 Chapter 1737. Destroying the Wall

?When the top part of the tower broke off and fell, the power line that fed the glowing orb was also severed. The orb dimmed as it fell onto the deck of the frogman's flagship. Since no new fog was being produced anymore, the fog covering the frogman fleet slowly dissipated. The air above the lake became clear again.

Once that happened, the Allied fleet took a more active approach. They rushed in and made short work of the pirate fleet. Their ships were better, their firepower was stronger, and their number was more. Combined with John's excellent command of the fleet, the frogmen learned that they were in deep shit in no time. Even the Kraken was having trouble facing the fleet's combined fire.

The frogmen started to flee. Those who were on board the damaged ships even jumped into the water and fled by swimming.

Their flagship couldn't flee, though. It was too slow. It relied entirely on the magical fog for safety. Without the fog, it was pretty much a sitting duck. It also had Cipher Flight's ships clinging around it which limited its movements.

The allied fleet continued firing at the frogmen's flagship. It still had its protective shield which limited the damage it received, but that was pretty much all it could do. Cipher Flight's guild army that docked the flagship destroyed enough parts of the five satellite ships surrounding the flagship that they lost their cannons and water guns, and thus, the flagship's ability to return fire.

The frogman chief, Vodyan, watched his crumbling flagship with gritted teeth.

"I will get you back for this, outworlder…!" He yelled angrily before jumping into the water. All the frogmen who saw their chief leaving immediately followed suit.

Disco Rain died from the fall, but she managed to swap her pendant with an amulet of rebirth before she hit the deck. She continued swearing at Will non-stop throughout the fall.

As for Will, he didn't worry because his guild had the resurrection chapel. He was ready to be rebirthed in the guild headquarters and use this as an excuse to leave the war. Unfortunately for him, someone snatched his body before he slammed into the floor. It was Nogg. Nogg could only save one falling person so he chose John's guild mate.

Will was silent with a long face after the save, which confused Nogg. Was it a shameful thing for an outworlder to be saved? He wondered.

Will didn't' dwell on his misfortune. He and Nogg dodged the wreckage of the tower that fell before coming back to search among the wreckage. Linda miraculously survived, probably because of her living plant which cushioned her fall. She was disoriented, though.

When she was still unaware, Nogg grabbed her from behind while Will used a runic rope to bind her. The two then carried her and left the flagship.

With the pirate fleet routed, the Kraken vanished. It was a summoned creature, after all. The Allied fleet then returned to concentrate on bombarding the capital's wall.

Above the sky of the main gate, Jack and Master used most of their skills and spells to try and best one another. Both of their divine forms had run out of duration. They were currently clashing with Jack in supreme dragon form and Master in demon form.

Not far away, the mobile fortress was still tackling the eldritch beholder with aid from Arlcard, Therras, Spark, and the past kings of Themisphere. Against so many opponents, the eldritch beholder's HP was slowly reduced.

This eldritch beholder was different from the original one. She was a clone. She didn't have the real one's personality. She never spoke. If the real eldritch beholder was still alive, then things might be different. The real eldritch beholder might assert part of her consciousness onto this clone and control the clone to an extent.

But she had died. In her absence, this clone was no more than an empty shell. The clone behaved like the monster of the wilderness. She fought simply by instinct with the simple objective of defeating her foes. Hence, her fighting patterns were monotone, allowing Arlcard and the others to study her patterns and adjust themselves so they didn't receive much damage from the fight.

Meanwhile, the archdemon lord's AOE spells greatly helped the Allied forces in gaining multiple footholds on the battlement. This caused the defenders to focus more on the enemies that had successfully climbed the wall. They could no longer spare their time protecting the wall from bombardment. Hence, the siege weapons and the guild's extra siege engines had free rein in battering the wall.

Between the Northern wall bombarded by the Allied fleet and the Eastern wall assaulted by the Allied army's siege weapons, it was the Northern wall that crumbled first.

Although the northern wall bordered the lake, there was a small patch of land that went around the capital. Seeing the hole in the Northern side, Horatio commanded the Sangrod army which was closest to that side to rush over. The death dealers, the fastest unit in the Sangrod army, took the lead as they charged.

When they got near, zombie units came out of the wall. Master stationed the zombie army behind the wall and left the more capable living soldiers to guard the battlement. Now that the wall had been breached, it was time to put the zombie army to use.

As the Sangrod army clashed with the zombie soldiers that blocked their approach, John's fleet moved closer and sent cannon fire on the zombie army. With the cover fire, the zombie units fell at a rapid rate.

Not long after the Northern wall fell, the Eastern wall also could finally take no more punishment. The right side of the wall next to the main gate cracked and gave in. After it crumbled, a huge hole was seen in the wall. The Allied army uttered a triumphant cry as they charged forward.

Similar to the Northern wall, zombie soldiers also rushed out of the hole in this Eastern wall. But both sides could see that this zombie army was simply delaying what was an obvious outcome.

"Give it up! You are done for!" Jack exclaimed as his claw executed Brave Slash again.

Master's magic shield empowered by mana manipulation blocked the slash this time but he still received residual damage. He retaliated by using Demonic Stare. Jack could protect his mind using mana so this skill was ineffective on him, but it still stopped his movement for an instant. Master cast Force Impact during that instant. Jack was thrown back from the impact.

"Hmph! You might win the battle but as long as I have the hostages, I will win this war!" Master exclaimed.

"… We will see about that," Jack cast Hundred Mirages. Multiple Jack's copies appeared. This spell could fool mana sense. Hence, it also affected the God-eye Monocle. On Master's radar, multiple red dots popped up near him.

Jack then used Reset and recast Remote Magic Field and Double Clone. With the Hundred Mirage's copies blocking the view added by the Double Clone, no one could tell which one was the true Jack.

Master used his Necronomicon, sacrificing some of the zombie soldiers below to refresh his spells' cooldown. He then resummoned the high demon, high angel, and several other powerful summons to his side.

Instead of fighting with his clones, Jack again sent his clones in different directions to aid his army below.

"Pretty confident of you," Master said.

"My divine skill has also been refreshed, prick!" Jack exclaimed and used Lightning God Incarnation.

But as he was about to lunge, he heard a loud cry from above. He looked up and saw the three dragons. Azzarilth's infernal chaos domain had run out of duration, so it was no longer obscuring the view. What he saw was Quetzalcoatl being impaled by a dark energy lance that seemed to corrode his very being.
