Second Genesis

Chapter 377: Act of Service

Chapter 377: Act of Service

The burning feeling only increased with every passing second until even Grey was starting to feel uncomfortable. He frowned.

His pain tolerance at this point had reached a truly exaggerated level. He couldn’t remember the last time he had done much more than grunt because of pain.

He was truly certain that unless the Genesis System tried to kill him again, he could be indifferent to most things, even if it meant losing limbs or inner organs.

But this was starting to be a problem, and oddly enough, he couldn’t decide whether he was feeling good or horrible. That only made it weirder.

On the one hand, it felt warm and soothing. But on the other, it prickled at him, needling and drilling into areas it had no business being in.

The tome in front of him continuously spun, its pages whipping by and past blueprints that Grey hadn’t even been able to touch before. The last time he tried to look beyond the Vector Class ones, the pages had gotten stuck. But now they were just blazing by like nothing happened.

Then, slowly, the pages came to a slow stop, and at the same time, the uncomfortable feeling his blood was giving him likewise started to fade.

The tome snapped open to the very middle. The pages stopped passing by entirely, and there, a complex array of circuitry was laid out in front of Grey. Its densest patch started at his jaw before they fanned out, becoming simpler and simpler the further from his jaw they went.

There was no doubt that the most complex pathways were in his head. Though it started in his jaw and that seemed to be the core of everything, there were almost as many pathways moving to his eyes and his brainstem.

Oddly enough, there was less to his actual brain than the most primitive part of it. For a second, Grey thought the thing was trying to call him stupid.

’Hey, I dick around a lot, but I can think too, dammit... sometimes.’

Grey’s eyes shifted up from the circuit and he realized he should have probably read the title above it first. It wasn’t in a language with characters that he could recognize, and the letters were drawn in what looked like complex circuitry from a circuit board themselves. Yet, Grey understood it instantly.

’Mechanical Jaw Lineage Frame...’ Grey clicked his tongue. ’Is this thing Recursive?’

Grey pursed his lips. Considering the grill had gone from Recursive to Linear, it probably was. Well, he should have probably known that it was Recursive by the fact it worked at all.

From his understanding, he could only have one Frame of each Type, and he already had a Linear, Branching, and Resonant Frame. So unless it replaced one of them, it could only be Recursive.

But all his other Frames were already at the Established Class now, so it was basically impossible to change them. At the very least, it wouldn’t be nearly as easy as it was in the past anymore.

So, that only left one answer...

"Fuck."

Grey was a bit peeved. He didn’t expect this to happen, he just thought he was coming to get a Spirit that he could fit into a nice mech, he didn’t expect that Spirit to fuse with his body and cause something like this.

He also didn’t see a single ability show up. Everything here was the same except for the fact his Last Paladin Abilities had gone up by two levels while he wasn’t paying attention. But that was probably the least surprising thing considering he spent so much time using them.

In truth, he wasn’t pissed about the Frame itself. He was pretty sure when he started learning what it actually was, it would probably be quite powerful.

He had one Dark Kin Frame, and it was exceptionally powerful, especially after he matched it with a mech designed for it.

From the history he knew, the Savage Races were at least as powerful if not more so. In fact, they were definitely more so, because Barkeep Ji had heavily implied that the blood witch’s tome would improve his Vampire Lord Frame even further, and the Witches were also a Savage Race just like the gnomes were.

So, in reality, he shouldn’t be pissed about this, he should just be doing his best to figure out how to maximize this. Even if it was a frame that wasn’t as powerful, just having a compatible mech would easily make it one of his strongest reliances.

What he was actually pissed about was the fact this meant he couldn’t steal Amunet’s Frame unless he gave up this one.

Grey frowned. How petty did he want to be right now?

"Fuck this." Grey looked up. "And fuck you, Udon. Choke on my dick."

He held up a middle finger and grabbed his crotch with the other.

"Take it as a great service. Doesn’t seem your race knows anything about having meat."

At that moment, in a lounging room of great luxury, a laugh of fury filled the skies and shattered the roof to pieces.
