Chapter 373: Hate My Guts [1200 GT Bonus]

Grey didn’t even know what to say. It wasn’t often he was rendered speechless, but there really wasn’t a good explanation for what he was seeing now.

For one, he didn’t really understand what relation the Mechanical Jaw had with Great Udon’s Race. The similarities between the spirit and the annoying bastard he wanted to introduce to a bullet were too overlapping.

Second, wasn’t a spirit supposed to already be dead? Why did it look like this one was in the process of actively rotting? It didn’t make sense at all.

If it was just an illusion, that would be fine. But the stench was literally hitting him like a slap across the face.

Now that Grey thought about it, though, if the Spirit was already, well... a Spirit, then how would he have fought it in the first place? Didn’t that mean that it had to have been alive from the very beginning?

’I guess this is what I get for not thinking things through. But does this mean I have to actually kill the Spirit first? Or is there some other weird steps of preparation I have to take?’

Grey didn’t get to think about it for long, not when the loose jaw of the Spirit rattled suddenly, then unhinged itself. A beam of light cut across the air, moving so fast Grey’s Resonant Spirit almost missed it entirely.

Grey dove to one side and then quickly popped back up to his feet, blinking in shock.

He had just defeated three powerful aliens back to back to back. Granted, he hadn’t taken a real rest since then—mostly because he didn’t even have that luxury.

If they had sent three, they could very well send four, five, six, or even more than that. He was also cognizant of the fact the recap episode was soon, and the odds that they wouldn’t show that battle were very, very low.

Time wasn’t a luxury he had.

So his body was aching, his stamina was running low, and he had come here anyway hoping for an easy, quick victory.

Though he had second guessed things after Amunet’s words, he had still gone forward anyway, mostly because it was already too late to take another path forward.

In his defense, the Quest didn’t have a Class marker on it. It just said Legendary, so Grey assumed it was a Proving Class level difficulty Quest.

What Grey didn’t know was that a Legendary Quest would always be a Legendary Quest. There was a reason they were so rare.

For a Proving Class Legendary Quest to become "easy", he would have to be in the Vanguard Class and just as talented and powerful compared to those of that Class as he was to other Established Class warriors right now.

And even then it would still take a little effort.

’Well shit.’

Grey looked toward where the beam of light passed by. Flesh bubbled out of the ground as though the earth had become organic. Cancerous growths piled onto one another in some mess of photosynthesis, almost like it was feeding off of what few sun rays made it through to continue growing.

"That’s just fucking gross." Grey cringed, starting to wonder whether he really wanted this Spirit or not.

BANG.

A hand suddenly shot out of the bubbling flesh and slapped down at him.

Grey’s lip twitched, but his reaction was fast nonetheless. His palm flipped over and his blood blade extended from his palm, slapping into his hand.

He jumped to a side and swept his blade down and up at the position he had just been. Despite the awkward angle, he cut through the arm like it was made of wet paper, foul blood spilling out from it.

Grey’s head snapped toward the bubbling flesh only to find more bubbling out. Rather than just hands this time, actual zombies were forming and rising up.

’You can’t be serious.’

Grey looked toward the floating, rotting mask. Then an idea suddenly struck and for the first time in a while, he opened up his chat.

"Yo, chat."

[FinchTheDiddler: Holy, is he actually talking to us for once?]

[EggyDominion: I must be dreaming. Somebody pinch me.]

[FinchTheDiddler: You know, you can exist without fangirling over everyone. I saw that request you sent in to change your name to GreyDominion]

[EggyDominion: First of all, my race only has one unified sex, don’t misgender me you cunt. SECOND, showing appreciation for a talent and fangirling are NOT the same things. AND THIRD, can you rich fucks stop abusing your money and power to see things you’re not supposed to see?????]

Grey’s lip twitched. "Less yapping, more focusing. I need ideas."

Grey dodged out of the way of another beam, but he noted that this one was weaker than the last. Even so, it still split the ground open, and more zombies began to spill out.

Some of the "zombies" were just large limbs. Palms slapping down from above, heels stomping at his head as though they thought he was cosplaying an ant. But the others were actual humanoids, though they hardly looked human at all.

Some of them had two arms to one side of their bodies, some others were all legs, crawling forward like spiders. There was even one Grey saw that had a blooming array of arms coming out of its back. It kept flapping them in an echo of slapping noises as though it thought it could fly into the skies any moment now.

[EggyDominion: YES SUPREME LEADER! What do you need?!]

[SpellSeeker: You know any help we give will restrict our accounts or worse, no?]

Grey waved a hand. "I don’t need actual help. As if I would trust you losers."

[EggyDominion: :(]

[FinchTheDiddler: You see, Eggy? This is where you drop your fandom. But I have a feeling that instead of doing that you’ll become more obsessed]

[GreyDominion: Fuck you]

[GreyDominion: OH! My name change request went through! WOOOOOOO! FIND ME A BRICK WALL, I’M RUNNING THROUGH IT!]

[SpellSeeker: ??]

Even SpellSeeker was confused at this point, but Grey only grinned ear to ear.

"Tell me what’s the most humiliating way to kill this thing. I want the Great Udon to hate my fucking guts."
