The scream cut through the corridor like a blade.

"Help! Help! Someone is trying to rape me!"

For half a second, Rohit simply stood there, more irritated than alarmed.

He wasn’t frightened.

He was irritated.

Predictable.

A few members of the event staff arrived first, followed by security personnel and several guests who had been drawn by the woman’s scream. Within moments, a small crowd had gathered around the open doorway.

"Rekha, what happened?"

One of the female staff members hurried forward and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you alright?"

Another woman moved closer, looking from Rekha to Rohit with an alarmed expression.

"Did he do something to you?"

Rekha’s saree was deliberately disheveled, her lipstick smeared across her lips, and tears streamed down her face with impressive precision.

She pointed a trembling finger at Rohit.

"He pulled me inside! He wouldn’t let me leave!"

The accusation immediately changed the atmosphere.

A few people gasped.

Others looked at Rohit.

One man who had just arrived glanced at the woman, then at Rohit standing inside the room.

"Look at him. He’s not even saying anything."

Another voice came from somewhere in the crowd.

"Call security."

"I already did," someone replied.

Rohit didn’t move. He simply stood with his hands loosely in his pockets, watching the crowd the way a man watches weather roll in — inconvenient, but not worth arguing with. His complete lack of panic unsettled them more than any denial would have.

Within minutes, two security guards along with a professional stepped into the doorway.

A female security staff member stepped forward, placing herself protectively in front of Rekha. She turned to Rohit with a snarl.

"You bastard. You dare assault a staff member in broad daylight?"

Rohit gave a short, humorless chuckle.

"What? Planning to mob me for revenge now?"

Before the situation could escalate further, one of the male security guards who had been at the entrance earlier suddenly froze. Recognition flashed across his face. He had personally guided this same young man through the special passage to meet Naina Chambani.

He raised his voice sharply.

"Everyone, hold on. Be careful. This man is a personal guest of Naina Madam. He’s not some ordinary outsider."

The warning landed. The crowd hesitated. Several people who had been ready to rush forward stepped back slightly, suddenly unsure. Guest of unknown but clearly high background were always risky to handle. No one wanted to be the first to cross a line that could come back later.

Still, the insults continued.

"Doesn’t matter who he is. Look at the girl!"

"Shameless!"

"Call the manager already!"

Rohit ignored every word. His attention stayed locked on Rekha.

From the beginning he had been on edge. Akanksha and Robin’s repeated warnings about him being targeted had kept him alert. Coming here without making a scene had been deliberate — better to walk into the trap on his own terms than let them choose the timing. He had even left Aisha behind so she wouldn’t become a liability. But a rape accusation... that was a lower blow than he had expected.

He let out a short, cold laugh and stepped forward.

"Fine. I won’t go anywhere. Let’s settle this with words."

He walked straight toward Rekha. The female security officer instinctively took a step back.

Rohit stopped in front of the girl and looked down at her.

"How much?"

The bluntness shocked the entire corridor into silence.

He repeated, voice calm and clear.

"How much were you paid? I can pay you ten times whatever they promised. Drop the accusation and this ends here."

Someone in the crowd sneered.

"Now he’s trying to buy his way out. Shameless."

"Don’t listen to him! Police are already being called!"

Rohit ignored them completely and continued speaking only to Rekha.

"Ten thousand? One lakh? Ten lakh? Name the number."

Murmurs rose as more people joined the growing crowd.

"Fuck, ten lakhs? That’s a million. Who the hell is this guy?"

"He’s still denying it?"

"These days some girls will accuse anyone if they’re not satisfied..."

"Either way she’s finished. With that kind of money you can silence anyone."

Confusion spread through the onlookers. Not everyone who knew Rekha was ready to fully believe her story anymore.

Rekha’s face drained of color. She suddenly realized the target was no simpleton like she had been told. With this kind of power and money, he could easily destroy her even if she dropped the matter now. But she had already gone too far. Backing down in front of so many familiar faces would ruin her life either way. Maybe the man who promised her money would still support her... or she would simply drag him down with her. At least he didn’t seem to have any evidence yet.

She stammered, then forced herself to push back with whatever courage she had left.

"You... you rascal! You dare defile me and now even—!"

Her voice cracked as she started crying again, trying to make herself look as pitiful and believable as possible.

A middle-aged man suddenly pushed himself out of the crowd, face red with anger, several others following behind him.

"You think you can just threaten and buy people here?!"

He lunged forward.

Rohit didn’t even shift his stance much. One clean kick connected with the man’s jaw. The force sent him flying backward into the people behind him. They barely managed to catch him before he hit the ground. The man groaned, dazed, as they helped him back to his feet.

The corridor went dead silent for a second.

No one had clearly seen how the kick happened, but the result was obvious. This young man was not ordinary.

"He knows how to fight... someone call the manager and the police right now!"

"Record this! Don’t let him get away with violence!"

Phones came out. Multiple people started recording.

More guests from the main event began arriving, drawn by the noise. The murmurs grew heavier. The pressure in the corridor thickened. Rohit felt it clearly, but his expression never changed.

He looked back at Rekha, voice low and cold enough that only those closest could hear the full weight of it.

"This won’t go the easy way if you keep lying. Believe me... I have my means. The Singhania name is not to be trifled with."

The deliberate threat sent a fresh wave of shock through the crowd. Only now did people fully realize the person involved belonged to the Singhania family. Several phones came up, openly recording him, while others moved closer to comfort the girl, waiting for the police to arrive.

Rohit simply stood there, hands back in his pockets, waiting.

Just when the situation seemed to be settling into an uneasy standoff, a familiar voice cut through the corridor.

"Rohit... what have you done?"

Naina had arrived.
