Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 396 - 394: Colorful Rain

  • Next Chapter

After finishing a whole cup of Star Feather Tea, her Spirit Attribute didn’t increase, but her mind did feel much clearer.

As for her body feeling weak, she wasn’t sure if it was a matter of time or a side effect from the Flower Tea, but in any case, it had gotten much better.

At least now, she didn’t need to consciously control her movements just to walk normally.

After her brother left, Faye Yardley thought for a while but still couldn’t figure out how Logan Langdon managed to hide a part of an item’s description from the system.

She had just asked her brother, but he had no clue either. In the end, the two siblings could only agree to remain wary of Logan Langdon. It was best to avoid trading with him, as it was easy to get the short end of the stick.

It would be best to have no contact with him at all. Who knew what kind of strange and bizarre items he had on him.

It was already past midnight. Faye Yardley didn’t feel the slightest bit sleepy, so she didn’t force herself to go to bed.

Instead, she turned and went to the training room. Perhaps the discomfort in her body needed to be addressed by improving her control over it through more training.

By the time she emerged from the training room, it wasn’t even her usual wake-up time.

She looked up at the cold, bright moon in the sky. Besides it, she could barely see any other stars.

’Was it cold?’

Her sense of temperature seemed to have been abnormal for a long time, ever since her Constitution increased.

It was just that she had never felt it so keenly before.

’Getting stronger means becoming different from ordinary people.’

In a few steps, she leaped off the raft and onto the ever-thickening ice. Faye Yardley hadn’t decided what to do, but she felt that standing on the ice was a very different sensation from standing on the raft.

Even though she wasn’t standing on solid ground, looking at the vast, blue-white expanse of ice, Faye Yardley surprisingly felt more at ease than when she was standing directly above the seawater.

Bella ran to her side and stopped. Faye Yardley reached out and stroked Bella’s smooth, jade-like white bones, then lightly tapped her foot and vaulted onto the horse. "Bella, let’s go."

’No destination. She didn’t need one. All that mattered was running.’

The icy wind whipped against her face, but Faye Yardley didn’t even blink, simply enjoying the pleasure of the ride.

She could even pick up treasure chests while riding, doubling the fun.

After riding in a large circle and returning, Faye Yardley felt her spirits inexplicably lift, refreshed and swept clean of her earlier gloom.

’As one grows stronger, one’s mindset must also be elevated.’

Back on the raft, Faye Yardley rinsed off and then called Franklin Yardley to ask about the preparations for the school on the island. She told him that if it was ready, they should open it as soon as possible.

It didn’t matter if they could only scrape together one class per grade, or if a class only had a handful of students.

Also, she wanted to find a teacher for herself, to study properly again and stabilize her state of mind.

If the school opened, she could sit in on some of the upper-grade classes.

The answer she got was that desks and chairs had already been prepared for most of the classrooms, and the school could probably open officially in about another week. Previously, Faye Yardley had said that he could make the decisions on such matters himself. That was why Franklin Yardley had only mentioned it once and was planning to notify her again when the school was officially ready to open.

He hadn’t expected Faye Yardley to suddenly take an interest in this matter.

"Mr. Franklin, since there’s still a week, I’ll make a trip back to the island in a week."

"Alright. I’ll let Thorne know. If he needs you to do anything, Faye, I’ll call you again."

After hanging up, Faye Yardley was in a good mood. It was only then that she noticed the flowers and plants in the small garden had been replaced with a batch of more cold-resistant varieties. The roses were now pure white.

Having someone around who knew about planting really saved her the trouble of worrying about whether the flowers and trees would die in different climates.

She went directly to the veranda and sat down. Reaching out, she plucked a cup of hot milk tea from the air.

"Sis, what’s that? It smells so good! I want some too."

Faye Yardley handed the one she was holding to Lucy White and then took another cup from her inventory.

Lucy White took a sip, and her eyes lit up. "It’s sweet! So delicious. Sis, you seem to be in a really good mood."

"Why are you up so early? Little kids need lots of sleep to grow up big and tall."

Lucy White was speechless.

Then, full of anticipation, she asked, "Sis, will I really grow taller?"

"Anything is possible. Why don’t you go lie down for a bit longer?"

Just then, Willow Yardley walked over. "Sis, stop teasing Lucy White. I just made some sweet congee. Would you like a bowl?"

Lucy White shot Willow Yardley a slightly annoyed glance, then her eyes widened. "It’s raining. The rain is colorful!"

’Colorful rain?’

Faye Yardley also looked outside. Tilting her head up slightly, she saw that the rain hadn’t completely hit the ground yet. The sky was truly raining in color.

The moonlight was still present, and the lights on the raft were still on as the bizarre rain fell before their eyes.

The raft’s Energy Protection Shield activated automatically, blocking all the rain. However, the raindrops that landed on the ice didn’t freeze. Instead, they slowly gathered into small puddles.

Bramble extended a vine off the raft, probing toward one of the puddles.

TSSSSSS~

Upon contact with the puddle, the vine sizzled as it corroded, and wisps of white smoke began to rise.

Faye Yardley’s brow furrowed slightly. She opened the National Channel and, sure enough, plenty of other early risers had already discovered the strange phenomenon.

[Oh my god, it’s actually raining in this cold weather. And not just any rain, but rain that corrodes everything. This is just trying to kill us.]

[It doesn’t corrode *everything*. Don’t be so dramatic. My raft wasn’t corroded. Just be diligent and sweep the puddles off your raft.]

[Sweep with what? My bamboo broom got destroyed.]

[You idiots, this is rain that lets you evolve! Run wild in it and enjoy!]

[That guy’s probably insane. This rain clearly corrodes skin.]

[The rain only corrodes plants. If you open an umbrella, you won’t get wet or corroded.]

[Plants? A bamboo broom can be corroded, so what makes you think a raft won’t be?]

[Holy crap, don’t scare me! I’m already out of wood!]

[Damn, does anyone have Dungeon Fragments? DM me if you’re willing to trade privately. I posted a request; you can leave a message on the Trading Market.]

Indeed, there were plenty of early birds. The dense stream of messages on the National Channel confirmed that diligent people were not in short supply.

Because of this, however, Faye Yardley also saw a lot of useful information.

’If my raft didn’t have its Energy Protection Shield, I’m afraid all the flowers and plants in the little garden would have been ruined.’

"Bramble, come back."

Faye Yardley watched Bramble retract its vine. ’I still have the Magic Seed... What kind of plant would grow if I used this rainwater to plant it?’

’Since wooden buckets can’t be used, plastic basins, iron basins, and the like should all be fine.’

Faye Yardley had Willow Yardley and the others put on raincoats, then had them take all the empty, water-holding containers from the inventory outside the raft to collect rainwater.

Since she thought it might be useful to her, Faye Yardley went ahead and posted a purchase request on the Trading Market, then sent a message on the National Channel encouraging everyone to trade.
