Chapter 355: Back Against the Wall
Chen Zhu, Jin Haitian, Gu Ruohe, and Yang Ling were all racing toward Chu Qiguang's location. Even from afar, they could see him locked in battle against three giant women, several imposing wolf fiends, and over ten other martial artists.
All the while, icy rain continued to fall from the dark clouds overhead.
"The Imperial Heavenly Dao is working with the wolf fiends! They've joined forces to target Chu Qiguang together!" Chen Zhu exclaimed. "There must be very high-ranking members of the Imperial Heavenly Dao present if they're able to manipulate the weather like this!"
"We have to hurry!" Gu Ruohe urged as he charged ahead on horseback, followed by the reluctant Jin Haitian.
On the battlefield, Yi Siman was observing Chu Qiguang with a grim expression.
Not only had Chu Qiguang managed to seize Heavenslash, but he had also thwarted their plan to abduct or kill him.
How is he already so strong at such a young age? Could he be one of the Great Han Empire's hidden Eight Han Resurgence Generals?
Meanwhile, a look of resolve flashed through Qiu Yuebai's eyes as she weighed her options. It was too late to abort the mission now, and the Imperial Heavenly Dao's losses had to be recouped at any cost.
Having made up her mind, Qiu Yuebai inhaled with all her might, and her chest expanded drastically as more scales appeared across her body. Even her spine began to warp, and her pupils turned into vertical slits.
In the next instant, she opened her mouth and unleashed a mighty roar, sending sound waves visible to the naked eye sweeping through the air in all directions.
Seemingly in response to her draconic roar, the dark clouds in the sky rapidly expanded, and a bolt of white lightning pierced through the heavens.
Chen Zhu and the others instantly found themselves being battered by howling winds and arrow-like hail, while a layer of frost formed over the ground in the blink of an eye.
The reinforcements rushing onto the scene were all greatly alarmed, and they frantically darted around to avoid the falling hail.
In contrast, the morale of the Imperial Heavenly Dao's celestial maidens and generals soared. Their faces lit up with fervent expressions of zealous worship as they threw themselves at Chu Qiguang with renewed vigor.
After summoning the hailstorm to impede the reinforcements, Qiu Yuebai pulled out her fourth vial of talismanic water, a pained look in her eyes.
This is my last one.
Despite her reluctance, she downed the entire vial in one go before spreading her arms to the heavens and crying out, "O' Imperial High God! May your nation descend upon this world! May your doctrines be heard by all!"
All of a sudden, a yellow cloud appeared above Qiu Yuebai. Immediately afterward, she clenched her right hand into a fist in Chu Qiguang's direction.
The yellow cloud instantly shot toward him. Chu Qiguang had just forced two of the celestial maidens into retreat with a swing of his saber when he suddenly found himself unable to move his lower body. He looked down to discover that the yellow cloud had wrapped itself around his ankles.
No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't break free, and even Heavenslash was unable to slice through the cloud.
"He's been trapped by the auspicious cloud of the Imperial High God! Get him!" Qiu Yuebai yelled.
Yi Siman's eyes instantly lit up. Channeling his Baleful Blood Arts with all his might, he accepted a saber from one of his subordinates before launching himself at Chu Qiguang like a speeding arrow.
At the same time, the remaining ten generals of the Imperial Heavenly Dao sprang into action, along with the three celestial maidens.
Chu Youtian and the remaining four wolf fiends transformed into five giant wolves, baring their bloodthirsty fangs as they charged forward. Immobilized by the auspicious cloud, Chu Qiguang found himself under attack from all directions.
Initially, Chu Qiguang tried to defend himself with Heavenslash, but he had no mastery of saber techniques. As powerful as Heavenslash was, what he needed most right now was a way to defend himself.
Thus, he plunged the saber into the ground beside him before channeling his Undying Seal to ward off the ferocious barrage of attacks.
All nineteen assailants descended upon him in unison, and the combined force of their attacks made him feel as if he had been crushed head-on by a massive tsunami.
His hands became a pair of blurs as he lashed out at incredible speed to fend off the oncoming attacks.
His palm had only just clashed against the saber of a general before he was forced to unleash a palm strike to ward off a swiping wolf paw.
However, there was no way he could fend off all nineteen assailants at once. Before long, a giant wolf managed to clamp its jaws around his waist, its sharp fangs grinding violently against his skin and flesh.
Unable to move, Chu Qiguang had no choice but to take on all nineteen assailants head-on, and his qi and blood reserves were rapidly being depleted.
By this point, Chen Zhu and the others were no more than a hundred meters away, and they could only watch in helpless despair as Chu Qiguang was overwhelmed by his opponents. They could already envision him being reduced to mincemeat by the ferocious assault.
A series of loud cracks rang out as the golden armor formed by the Golden Armor Talisman crumbled away. At the same time, the golden hue of his skin began to fade as his defenses struggled to withstand the relentless onslaught.
A look of elation appeared in Qiu Yuebai's eyes at the sight.
Almost there!
However, in the next instant, Chu Qiguang abruptly let out a thunderous roar, and a burst of white gale force erupted from his body, redirecting the attacks of all his assailants at once.
It was the fourth level of the Undying Seal!
Faced with this dire situation, Chu Qiguang had invested all four of his deep boons into the Undying Seal at once, elevating it to the fourth level, a level that even Qiao Zhi had never reached before.
The gale force had become an extension of his body, warping and redirecting all the attacks that came his way.
Qiu Yuebai and the others were utterly astonished that Chu Qiguang had managed to withstand all of their attacks at once.
With Chen Zhu and the others rapidly closing in, Yi Siman cast one final glance of fury and frustration at Chu Qiguang before roaring, "Retreat!"
However, it was already too late. They had already been surrounded.
