Chapter 105: Spirit Awakening, Once Again (1)

  • Next Chapter

The following month, Lu Yang suddenly requested two days of leave from his grandfather.

When Lu Hai heard about it, he could not help but feel somewhat surprised.

Over the past three years, his grandson had hardly ever requested leave from the Imperial Prison.

The guards were entitled to a day of leave each month, and unused leave could be accumulated throughout the year. Naturally, not everyone chose to save their days, but Lu Yang had barely used any of his.

Even during ordinary holidays, he would usually remain in the Imperial Prison unless he had something important to attend to.

Now, he was suddenly requesting two days off.

Lu Hai looked at his grandson sitting before him.

"Why do you suddenly want leave?"

Lu Yang answered calmly, "I have something to take care of at home."

Lu Hai raised an eyebrow.

Something to take care of at home?

What could possibly be so important that his grandson needed two days away from the Imperial Prison?

However, after considering it for a moment, he decided not to ask further.

Lu Yang was already fifteen years old.

Although he was still young, he was no longer the little boy who had followed his grandfather around the Imperial Prison, watching everything with curious eyes.

Over the past few years, he had demonstrated considerable maturity in handling his responsibilities.

Moreover, Lu Hai had never intended to keep his grandson under his supervision forever.

Young people naturally have their own affairs.

As long as Lu Yang was not doing anything improper, there was no reason to question him about every little matter.

"Very well. I’ll approve two days of leave."

"Thank you, grandfather."

Lu Yang smiled and stood up.

Lu Hai waved his hand dismissively.

"Go on, then. Just remember to return on time. Don’t make old Sun complain that his subordinates are becoming increasingly undisciplined."

Lu Yang agreed before leaving the office.

Only after his grandson had departed did Lu Hai stroke his beard thoughtfully.

He still found the matter somewhat unusual.

However, he soon put the thought aside.

After all, two days of leave were hardly worth worrying about.

He had more important affairs to attend to.

...

The reason Lu Yang had requested leave was naturally not because he had suddenly developed some interest in spending time at home.

He was about to break through to the Spirit Awakening Realm.

He had already reached the absolute pinnacle of Body Tempering Realm a long while ago after continuously refining his Blood Qi and strengthening his foundation.

Now, it was finally time for him to enter the Spirit Awakening Realm.

However, a breakthrough to the Spirit Awakening Realm would probably require several hours at the very least, and the Imperial Prison was not a suitable place for cultivation breakthroughs.

There were too many people coming and going, too many responsibilities to attend to, and too many opportunities for someone to notice something unusual.

Although he had perfected the Dust Hiding Breath Concealing Method, he had no desire to test whether it could conceal every disturbance caused by a major realm breakthrough.

There was no need to take that risk.

He had already accumulated enough unused leave to take several days off whenever he wished.

Two days would be more than enough for him.

He did not need to prepare for an extended retreat, nor did he need to spend months stabilizing his foundation afterward.

Not only had he once experienced the Spirit Awakening Realm breakthrough, but with his current talent, even the time for stabilizing his cultivation after breaking through would require at most a day.

What he lacked was just the final opportunity to cross that threshold in this life.

Now that the time had arrived, he wanted to handle the matter somewhere quiet.

After leaving Lu Hai’s office, Lu Yang walked along the familiar corridors of the Imperial Prison.

The guards stationed along the way greeted him as usual.

He responded casually and continued towards his assigned detention area.

Before long, he arrived near Song Fuyao’s cell.

The young woman was sitting inside, looking rather bored.

When she noticed Lu Yang approaching, her expression immediately changed.

"What are you looking at, dog official?"

Lu Yang stopped outside the iron bars.

"I have something to tell you."

Song Fuyao frowned.

"Who wants to hear anything from you?"

Lu Yang ignored her question.

"I’ll be gone for the next two days. You should shout less while I’m away, or you’ll have a hard time surviving here."

For a brief moment, Song Fuyao was stunned. Then, her face flushed red with anger.

"Who cares whether you’re here or not?!"

She shot to her feet and pointed at him through the bars, veins throbbing on her forehead.

"Just piss off! The sooner you disappear, the better!"

Lu Yang nodded thoughtfully.

"That’s good. It seems you’ve finally learned to appreciate peace and quiet."

"You!" Song Fuyao’s expression twisted.

She looked as though she wanted to rush through the iron bars and tear him apart with her bare hands.

Unfortunately, the chains around her limbs prevented her from doing anything of the sort.

Lu Yang waved his hand and walked away briskly.

Behind him, Song Fuyao’s curses soon filled the corridor, but he paid them no attention.

After all, he would not be here for the next two days.

For once, he could enjoy a little peace and quiet.

...

Leaving the detention area behind, Lu Yang walked through the remaining corridors and exited the Imperial Prison.

The sunlight outside was warm, and the streets of the Imperial Capital remained as lively as ever.

Carriages passed along the roads, merchants called out to potential customers, and cultivators hurried between shops, residences, and various institutions, each occupied with their own affairs.

Looking at the bustling city, Lu Yang felt a rare sense of anticipation.

For the past ten years, he had been cultivating patiently, concealing his true strength, and avoiding unnecessary attention.

Now, he was finally about to reach the Spirit Awakening Realm, a significant milestone in this life. But it was not his ultimate goal.

In his previous life, he was twenty-nine years old when he achieved Spirit Awakening. Now, he was barely sixteen.

At this rate, he could probably achieve Essence Gathering before sixty, right?

Smiling faintly, Lu Yang shook his head, pushing that thought to the back of his mind.
