Chapter 284: Chapter 143: Shocking the Entire Battlefield, the Underworld Trembles! (Part 2)

"His strength, strategy, and sheer audacity have likely reached the domain of the gods—perhaps even higher."

Dohko turned to look at Athena, his eyes filled with an unprecedented gravity.

"Lady Athena, with Alex here, we might truly be able to forge an unprecedented miracle in this Holy War."

Athena gently smoothed her hair as it fluttered in the wind. At this moment, her thoughts were even more chaotic than her tresses.

.....

The land of the Underworld trembled violently.

Hades Castle appeared out of thin air above the dark soil and crashed down heavily. The sturdy black stone walls were instantly webbed with cracks, and debris poured down like a stony waterfall.

The surviving Specters near the castle—who had been teleported back to the Underworld along with it—whether they were the Three Judges or the Terrestrial Stars, were all like startled birds. Their eyes were filled with the daze of survivors and a bone-deep terror.

"How is this possible... even Lord Hades had to temporarily evade his sharp edge..."

One Specter slumped to the ground, fragments of his Surplice scattered around him.

"Where are the Celestial Stars? Why didn’t they all return? They went to attack the Sanctuary... could they have been completely wiped out?"

Another Specter looked around, unable to find the familiar faces of the Celestial-tier Specters. Panic began to spread like wildfire among the ranks.

For eons, the fact that Specters could not die as long as the Underworld King lived was the foundation of their fearless combat. Now, that myth had been shattered. Furthermore, had Hades not intervened in this battle, the God of Death himself might have been ended by Alex.

"Did you see? The hole in Lord Thanatos’s chest... I’ve never seen the God of Death so severely wounded..."

"Lord Hypnos looks terrifyingly pale as well. He’s been constantly exhausting his divine power to save Lord Thanatos..."

"Can we even win this Holy War? That Aquarius Saint is a literal monster! Even Lord Hades had to pull back; what can we possibly do?"

Unease and dread spread through the Specters like a virus.

Inside the Temple of the Underworld King in Elysium, a stifling rage—cold as physical ice—frozen every inch of space.

The obsidian floor was stained with a startling shade of pale gold. It was the divine blood, containing primordial divinity, seeping from the wounds of Thanatos.

Thanatos lay upon the cold Underworld stone altar, his silver-white robes torn to shreds, with a hideous, gaping wound piercing through his chest. Although his divine body was slowly mending under the nourishment of the Underworld’s deathly aura, the residual purple-gold energy and Absolute Zero chill at the edges of the wound continued to erode his form and godhead, preventing recovery.

With every breath, he endured the agonizing pain of a tearing soul. His face was a mask of distorted suffering and deep-seated malice, and he muttered unconsciously.

"Blasphemer... Blasphemer..."

Hypnos stood to the side, the usual lazy sleepiness gone from his golden eyes, replaced by gravity, exhaustion, and shock. He was exerting his full divine power to soothe Thanatos’s collapsing divine soul, but to little effect. The solar power and destructive lightning within Alex’s spear possessed a natural suppression against gods of the dark element.

"A Saint! No, a blasphemer!"

Hypnos looked up, his expression contorted and his usual elegance gone, replaced by frantic agitation.

"Lord Hades, he has stolen power that does not belong to mortals! Sunlight... Lightning... those are the authorities of the Heavenly Father and the God of Light!"

As if triggered by the word authority, Thanatos suddenly snapped his eyes open, using every ounce of his remaining strength.

"Lord Hades... Alex... he is a blasphemer! He has stolen the authority of the gods! We must... we must let all the gods know!"

After his final cry, he convulsed from the intense pain and slipped back into a semi-conscious state.
