Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 414: Alpha Nicholas, Welcome To The Underworld
Not the gentle green swirl of Victoria’s normal portals. This one was darker. Wrong. Tinged with grey and black like it was opening into a realm that should not be accessed.
The Underworld.
Nicholas looked at it.
Looked at the darkness waiting.
Looked at the ending he was walking toward.
"Ready?" Victoria asked.
"Ready," Nicholas confirmed.
They stepped toward the portal together.
The darkness swirled.
The air grew cold.
Nicholas took one last breath of mortal air.
Then he stepped through.
Victoria stepped through beside him.
And the portal closed behind them.

*THE UNDERWORLD*
The Underworld felt wrong.
That was Nicholas’s first coherent thought after stepping through the portal.
Everything about this place felt fundamentally incorrect. The air was too heavy. The grey light came from nowhere and everywhere at once. The ground beneath his feet was smooth stone that should not exist.
And the silence....
The silence was absolute. No wind. No sounds of life. No heartbeat except his own.
Just nothing.
Nicholas looked around and felt his skin crawl.
They were standing in what Victoria had called the middle realms. Twisted structures rose in the distance like buildings designed by something that did not understand architecture. The sky....if it could be called a sky, was flat grey without depth or variation.
And ahead of them....
A building that looked almost normal. Stone walls. A door. Windows that glowed with faint light.
Thalia’s sanctum.
"This way," Victoria said quietly.
She walked toward the building with Nicholas following.
Every step felt like walking deeper into a nightmare. Like crossing a threshold he would never be able to uncross.
But Nicholas kept moving.
Because somewhere in this place, in the depths of the Veil.....Lilith’s soul was being held. Consumed. Processed as payment for a covenant she had never agreed to.
And Nicholas was going to get her back.
No matter what it cost.
Victoria knocked on the door.
It opened immediately.
And Thalia stood there.
Nicholas had seen her before, during the attack on the estate. But seeing her here, in her own territory, was different.
She looked more powerful. More dangerous. More absolutely at home in this realm of death and darkness.
Her black eyes fixed on Nicholas with an intensity that made him want to step back.
"Alpha Nicholas," Thalia said. "Welcome to the Underworld. I’ve been waiting for you."
"Thalia," Nicholas said carefully.
"Come in," Thalia said. She stepped aside. "We have much to prepare. And very little time to do it."
Nicholas and Victoria entered the sanctum.
The interior was exactly what Nicholas expected from a corrupted witch who had spent fifteen years making demon deals.
Shadow walls. Black stone floor. Altars stained with blood. Ritual circles carved into every surface.
And in the center of the room....
A massive circle drawn in what looked like silver mixed with ash. Symbols Nicholas did not recognize. Components arranged at specific points around the perimeter.
A resurrection ritual space.
"Sit," Thalia said, gesturing to chairs near a table. "Before we begin, you need to understand exactly what you’re about to do."
Nicholas sat.
Victoria sat beside him, her expression tense.
Thalia remained standing, looking at Nicholas with those black eyes.
"Victoria told you the basics," Thalia began. "That you need to anchor Lilith’s soul. That you need to sacrifice yourself so she can return. But she probably did not explain the actual mechanics of how this works. Yes?"
"She explained some of it," Nicholas said. "But not everything."
"Then let me fill in the gaps," Thalia said. She walked to the table and pulled out the grimoire Victoria had read days ago. "Resurrection requires three components. The body. The soul. And the bridge between them."
She opened the grimoire to a page showing detailed diagrams.
"Victoria and Elena will handle the body," Thalia continued. "They’ll maintain life magic. Keep Lilith’s physical form viable. Prepare it to receive her soul. That’s the easy part."
"And the soul?" Nicholas asked.
"That’s where you come in," Thalia said. She reached out for the glowing red crystal....the soul anchor and Victoria handed it over to her. "This crystal will guide you to Lilith’s soul once you’re in the Veil. But Nicholas.....you need to understand what the Veil actually is."
She gestured and shadow formed in the air above the table. Images. Shapes. Representations of something that could not be fully depicted.
"The Veil is the space between life and death," Thalia explained. "It’s where souls pass through when they die. Where the entity that gave us our gift dwells. Where consciousness exists without form. It is not a physical place. It operates on rules that have nothing to do with mortal reality."
Nicholas watched the shadows shift and change.
"Time does not work the same there," Thalia continued. "Space is meaningless. What feels like minutes could be hours. What looks like distance could be instant. You will be disoriented. Confused. Possibly terrified. That’s normal. That’s what happens when living consciousness enters a realm designed for the dead."
"How do I navigate it?" Nicholas asked.
"You don’t," Thalia said bluntly. "You let the soul anchor guide you. This crystal...." She held up the red stone. "....is attuned to Lilith’s soul specifically. It will pull you toward her. You just have to follow."
"And when I find her?" Nicholas asked.
"You hold on," Thalia said simply. "You anchor yourself to her soul using the residual bond ties you still share. Even though the mate bonds broke when she died, there are traces. Echoes. Enough connection that you can grab onto her and not let go."
"What will she be like?" Nicholas asked quietly. "In the Veil?"
Thalia’s expression was complicated. "She’ll be herself. And she won’t. Souls in the Veil lose coherence over time. They fragment. Dissolve. Become part of the entity’s consciousness. How much of Lilith remains depends on how long she’s been there and how hard she’s been fighting to stay intact."
Nicholas felt his chest tighten. "It’s been three days."
