Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 360: What If There Was Another Option?
Lilith felt something crack inside her chest. "You’re not real. This is....I’m dying. This is my brain creating comfort because I’m dying."
"Maybe," Victor allowed. "Or maybe you’re in the space between life and death. The place where souls go when they’re not quite ready to leave but can’t quite stay. And maybe I’m here because you need to see me."
"I don’t understand."
Victor moved closer. He still looked translucent....not quite solid, more like light given shape, but when he reached out to touch her face, Lilith felt it. Felt the warmth and love and absolute certainty that she was his daughter and he loved her.
"You’re carrying a curse," Victor said gently. "A divine curse that transferred to you from the bonds you share with three cursed Alphas. And it’s eating you alive."
"I know," Lilith whispered.
"But you’re fighting it," Victor continued. "You’re holding on. Refusing to let go even when letting go would be easier. Why?"
"Because I love them," Lilith said. "Because I don’t want to die. Because....." She stopped. "Because I’m scared."
"Of dying?"
"Of the choice," Lilith admitted. "I know what the options are. Die to break the curse. Give up my magic. Or refuse and watch them go feral. And I don’t know which one I can actually live with."
Victor was quiet for a moment. "What if there was another option?"
Lilith looked at him sharply. "There isn’t. The prophecy is absolute. Morgana said...."
"Morgana told you what she believed was true," Victor interrupted. "But prophecies are tricky things, Lilith. They’re not always as absolute as they appear."
"What do you mean?"
Before Victor could answer, the darkness rippled again.
Another figure appeared. This one older. Female. With white hair and eyes that burned with power even in death.
Lilith had never met her but she knew who this was.
"Grandmother?" Lilith breathed.
Elowen Morvaine smiled. "Hello, child. It’s good to finally meet you."
"You’re dead," Lilith said. "You died in the coven attack fifteen years ago."
"Yes," Elowen confirmed. "But death doesn’t mean absence. Not here. Not in this place between."
She moved to stand beside Victor, and Lilith saw the way they looked at each other, with respect and warmth and something that looked like old friendship.
"You knew each other," Lilith said.
"Your father helped protect the Morvaine coven for years," Elowen said. "Before the attack. Before everything fell apart. He was a good man. A brave man. And he loved your mother more than anything."
"Why are you here?" Lilith asked. "Both of you. Why now?"
"Because you’re at a crossroads," Elowen said. "And you need guidance you’re not getting from the living."
She raised her hand and the darkness around them shifted.
Images appeared. Memories. Fragments of things Lilith had seen and things she had not.
The curse being placed on the Blackwood bloodline. Alaric Blackwood destroying the Moon Goddess’s sacred grove. Generations of Alphas suffering and dying because of one man’s arrogance.
And then....
The bonds forming. Three golden threads connecting Lilith to Nicholas, Sebastian, and Lucian. Not normal mate bonds. Something deeper. Older. More permanent.
"A soul bond," Elowen said quietly. "Rare. Almost extinct. But unmistakable."
"I know," Lilith said. "Selene told Aunt Victoria. She said if the bond is severed, we all die."
"That’s true," Elowen confirmed. "But there’s something Selene didn’t tell Victoria. Something even the Moon Temple Guardians don’t fully understand about soul bonds."
"What?"
Elowen waved her hand and the images shifted again.
Lilith saw herself. Saw the curse coiled around her heart. Saw the bonds trying to hold her to life while the curse pulled her toward death.
And she saw something else.
A fourth thread. Faint. Almost invisible. But there. Running from her heart toward... toward something Lilith could not quite see.
"What is that?" Lilith asked.
"Your choice," Marcus said quietly. "The fourth option that no one has told you about because they don’t know it exists."
"I don’t understand."
"The curse wants you dead," Elowen explained. "The bonds want you alive. And you’re caught between them being torn apart. But Lilith...what if instead of choosing one or the other, you chose something else entirely?"
"Like what?"
"Like transforming the curse instead of breaking it," Elowen said. "Like taking the death magic inside you and making it yours. Like becoming something new that can exist with both the curse and the bonds intact."
Lilith stared at her. "That’s not possible."
"It’s extremely difficult," Elowen corrected. "Maybe impossible for anyone who isn’t a Morvaine witch with bond manipulation abilities and a soul bond to anchor them. But Lilith...you have all of those things. Which means you might be the first person in centuries who could actually do this."
"Do what exactly?"
"Survive," Victor said simply. "Not by dying. Not by giving up your magic. But by transforming what you are into something that can hold the curse without being destroyed by it."
Lilith felt hope flare in her chest. "How?"
"We can’t tell you that," Elowen said gently. "This is your path to walk. Your choice to make. We can only show you that the possibility exists."
The images faded.
Lilith was left floating in darkness again with her father and grandmother watching her with expressions that held both hope and sadness.
"I don’t want to die," Lilith whispered.
"Then don’t," Victor said. "Fight. Hold on. Wait for help to arrive."
"What help?"
"You’ll see," Elowen said. "Someone is coming. Someone who understands transformation magic better than anyone alive. Trust her. Listen to her. And make your choice based on what you want, not what everyone else needs from you."
The darkness began to pull at them.
Victor and Elowen started to fade.
"Wait!" Lilith called out. "Don’t leave! I have so many questions..."
"We’re always with you," Victor said. "Even when you can’t see us. Even when you can’t hear us. We’re there."
"I love you, sweetheart," Elowen added. "And I’m so proud of the witch you’re becoming. Your mother would be too."
They faded completely.
A voice spoke....not her father’s, not her grandmother’s, but something else. Something that felt old and vast and absolutely certain.
"It’s not your time yet, child. Get ready to wake up."
