Chapter 79: Chapter 78: Dramatic Result

Hu Xia monitored the online public opinion and started gathering information on Kong Lin’s family from people like Qin Youyou.

When all sorts of evidence from everyone was laid out before her, she couldn’t understand how the family dared to tell such blatant lies online.

Over at the Arrow Tower, Lin Feng was discussing sponsorships with Zheng Kang when he saw Hu Xia approaching.

"How’s it going? Is that family still causing a scene online?"

"They really know what they’re doing. They started a livestream to sell products today, and it looks like they’ve sold quite a bit."

"The internet is a mix of truth and lies. People are just too kind."

Hu Xia looked at a crowd of tourists gathered in the distance and asked, "What’s going on over there?"

"Wu Jiaxing came back yesterday, right? He’s over there painting today. A lot of tourists like his work and want him to paint a picture for them."

"That’s really impressive. Maybe he’ll become an attraction for Lin Xian Village himself."

Lin Feng nodded. The man’s painting skills were impressive. Although he wasn’t at a master’s level yet, his current technique already marked him as someone with immense talent.

He had to take his mother to different places for treatment every year, yet his painting skills were still improving. That’s something most people couldn’t do.

Moreover, taking his mother for treatment all these years had given him a wealth of life experience, which was reflected in his paintings.

"Oh, right. Zheng Kang said a few big shots from the Bow and Arrow community are coming, including someone who won an Olympic medal. They said they want to come and take a look."

"Ah! That’s great news for us. It might attract a new wave of tourists who are into Bow and Arrow."

In truth, Lin Xian Village wasn’t short on tourists at the moment. Especially after news of the recent environmental improvements got out, many people from the surrounding areas had come to visit.

You could tell just by looking at Ma Sandao’s place. He was completely swamped; it was like a battlefield over there every day at noon.

"Manager Hu, Boss, the Bow and Arrow sponsor just called. They said that due to the online public opinion issue, they’re suspending sponsorship negotiations with us."

Lin Feng hadn’t expected it to affect the sponsors. "Which one?"

"The call was from the foreign company."

"Is there something wrong with their heads? I never even agreed to work with them. Just ignore them from now on."

He had come over today specifically to learn about the various Bow and Arrow companies from Zheng Kang. He hadn’t even decided which one to partner with yet.

Hu Xia said, "I’ll speed things up on my end and handle this online situation."

She had originally wanted to use this opportunity to further boost Lin Xian Village’s traffic, but now it seemed she couldn’t wait any longer.

"Take your time. It’s no big deal. It’s just one sponsor, and they were the ones who contacted us in the first place."

Hu Xia planned to leak all the material she had collected as soon as she got back.

Unfortunately for her, someone was about to beat her to the punch and utterly destroy the Kong Lin family.

With the help of Ying Tou’s younger brother, Brother Wang had obtained a large amount of private information on Kong Wei’s family last night.

Right now, the guy was sitting in a private room, admiring the spoils of last night’s work.

"What the fuck, she’s like a fat pig. How can that pretty boy even stand to touch her? It’s disgusting. Ugh! Turn it off, turn it off, quick."

"Brother Wang, this one’s juicy."

"Holy shit! This old bastard really knows how to live it up. He even got two at once. Isn’t he afraid he’ll die from pleasure? This whole family is really something else!"

He discovered this family was truly incredible. The mother was keeping a pretty boy, the father was fooling around, and the son was just the same. The daughter-in-law wasn’t normal either, having someone else’s baby.

The only normal person in the family was, surprisingly, the gluttonous and lazy sister who was living off her parents at home.

"Tell your little brother to upload all of this to the internet. Be discreet. Don’t let them trace it back to us."

Ying Tou puffed out his chest and said, "Don’t worry, Brother Wang. My brother’s skills are professional. They’ll never trace it back to us."

One of the underlings nearby said, "Brother Wang, why don’t we use this to demand money from them?"

"Use your brain! Demanding money would be extortion. Haven’t you seen how many people are getting arrested for that online?"

"Brother Wang is still the smartest. He understands the law."

Brother Wang said smugly, "Of course. Your Brother Wang knows the law better than anyone."

Ying Tou’s little brother quickly uploaded the short videos to the internet. Since the family was already a trending topic, they were instantly recognized by the gossip-hungry netizens.

Although such videos are taken down quickly from the domestic internet, the information on foreign websites couldn’t be deleted, so the videos still circulated among small groups of users.

Some bloggers chasing clicks saw the videos and, after censoring them to make them legal, posted them online.

While Kong Wei’s family was busy livestreaming to make money, they suddenly noticed comments in the bullet chat saying that private videos of their family had been uploaded online.

At first, they thought it was the tearful video from yesterday, but then someone posted a screenshot, and they realized they were actual lewd ’short videos’.

"Dad! How could you do something like that?"

"Mom, you’re keeping a pretty boy too!"

"You old bastard, how dare you do this behind my back! I knew the monthly money wasn’t right. See if I don’t scratch your face to shreds!"

"You have the nerve to talk about me? I earn money for you, and you use it to keep a pretty boy! I’ll kill you!"

As they spoke, the two started fighting. Kong Wei had no time to deal with his parents brawling. Looking at the situation online, he knew it was over.

Just then, his phone rang. It was his wife. He was instantly consumed by rage.

"You bitch! You actually made me raise someone else’s kid and cheated on me! Just you wait!"

"And you think you’re so great? Take a look at yourself! It was your good fortune that I even married you."

"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! Open the door!"

The daughter, who had been enjoying the show, went and opened the door to find police officers standing outside.

"Kong Wei, you’re coming with us."

"Officers, you’re just in time! I want to report a crime. Someone illegally stole my family’s private information."

The officers looked at the videos on their phones, their faces darkening. This family was truly one of a kind.

"In that case, all of you can come with us to the station."

They had forgotten to turn off the livestream, which had exploded by this point. Even though no one was on camera, the bullet chat was scrolling like a waterfall, and the stream’s popularity was maxed out.

The group of mindless fans who had supported them realized they were complete clowns and felt utterly disgusted.

When Hu Xia saw what was happening online, she looked at all the evidence she had prepared and realized it was no longer needed.

’Who’s this good Samaritan?! They just exposed the whole family. My eyes!’

She quickly closed the video and shared the good news.

Inside the station, Kong Wei shouted, "Officers, this is definitely retaliation from Lin Xian Village! You have to get justice for our family!"

"Be quiet for now. We will investigate. Right now, let’s talk about you. Someone has reported you for soliciting prostitutes."

"Officers, that’s definitely slander! I’ve never done that."

"Slander? Then what about these videos? Why don’t you explain them."

Only then did Kong Wei realize they were videos he had filmed himself, and there were transaction records too.

"How do you have these? They were on my phone! So you’re the ones who leaked the videos online!"

"Stop yelling. This was information from someone else’s report. Take out your phone and let us inspect it."

Hearing the man say the videos had always been on his phone, they felt this report wasn’t so simple. It likely involved information theft.

After inspecting Kong Wei’s phone, they quickly discovered a Trojan horse program. Tracing it was so simple it was unbelievable.

They discovered the source was right in Jiangcheng City. They scrambled to the IP address and arrested a 15-year-old who was in the middle of a game of Honor of Kings.

And just like that, Brother Wang’s whole crew was rounded up in one fell swoop.

When they figured out the whole situation, they didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The kid, out of a desire for glory, had learned a few things online and downloaded a pre-made Trojan program. Brother Wang’s crew had actually thought he was a real expert.

Back in the station, when Kong Wei learned that this entire chain of events was triggered simply because he had solicited a prostitute and then didn’t pay, he nearly coughed up blood.
