Chapter 41: Chapter 40: Selling Vegetables in Advance

"So this is Lin Xian Village? It doesn’t look like much!"

Xue Hongzhi got out of the car and found the small mountain village was completely different from what he had imagined.

Instead of entering the village, he followed the other tourists heading toward the Arrow Tower.

The information from his investigation mentioned a magical and very special kind of Arrow Tower here.

When he reached the Arrow Tower, he discovered the situation was a bit different. A group of people was gathered around a nearby tower, conducting research with various instruments and equipment.

After a moment’s thought, he bought a ticket for the Arrow Tower experience, queued up, and went to try it out.

His expression had changed by the time he came down from the tower.

’This place... it really is different!’

He recalled the investigation materials, which stated that the Jade Grapes were so special they couldn’t be transplanted.

Now, it seemed it wasn’t the Jade Grape Trees that were special at all, but the place itself.

He began asking the surrounding tourists about the Arrow Towers and the identities of the researchers nearby.

He discovered that the tourists knew very little about the Jade Grapes but a great deal about the Arrow Towers.

After gathering a significant amount of information, he became even more certain of his theory: the land here must be incredibly special to be able to grow the Jade Grape Trees.

If that was the case, the company’s strategy would have to change. They couldn’t just simply buy the grapevines.

He didn’t go over to the Orchard, knowing it was fenced off with people conducting research inside. He planned to find a way to make contact with the researchers.

As for Lin Feng, he had no plans to approach him until he had a clearer picture of the situation, to prevent any unexpected complications.

In contrast to him, Wu Xin and Ma Yanyan, who had just gotten out of their car, were in no mood to care about the Arrow Towers. Bringing the little girl, Yueyue, with them, they headed straight for the village.

"Sister Wu, Ms. Ma, you’re here! Yueyue has gotten a little taller. She’s so cute."

Wu Xin asked anxiously, "Xiaofeng, I heard that all your future grapes have been reserved?"

Lin Feng handed some fruit to Zhou Yueyue before replying, "Yes. If the Orchard can’t be expanded, it will probably take two or three years’ worth of grapes. I borrowed 20 million to develop my little village."

The two exchanged a look. It was just as they’d learned last night—the only grapes they could get were from the next pre-ordered batch.

Ma Yanyan said, "Lin Feng, Sister Wu and I want to order 200 bunches of grapes annually. Is there any way to do that?"

They didn’t dare to think about ordering any more than that; their priority was to secure the grapes their elderly family members needed.

"Sister Ma, Sister Wu, I won’t hide it from you. That’s definitely not possible. I’ve already signed a contract with someone."

The two were a little disappointed. It seemed there was truly no way to buy more grapes. They could only blame themselves; they had assumed that since they had pre-ordered the next batch, they wouldn’t have to worry about running out.

But someone else had been even more aggressive, reserving all the grapes for the next several years.

Lin Feng thought for a moment and said, "Ladies, while there are no more grapes, I am preparing to get into farming and animal husbandry, and I’m also planning an Orchard. If you trust me, you can buy some of that to try when the time comes.

Although the effects won’t be as dramatic as the grapes, eating them regularly will still be good for your health."

He was certain that anything produced on his land would be beneficial to one’s health. ’Anyone who buys it is getting a great deal.’

Wu Xin asked in pleasant surprise, "When will they be available? Can I buy some now? I can pre-order."

"Me too, me too! I want to pre-order as well," Ma Yanyan said hurriedly.

Having missed out on the grapes, they didn’t want to miss out on other good things. Since Lin Feng had brought it up himself, the products were bound to be decent.

"Ladies, please, don’t rush. Let me be clear. These products definitely won’t be as special as the Jade Grapes. I can only say that eating them long-term is good for your health.

Besides, the first batch of vegetables won’t be ready for harvest until next month, the poultry won’t be ready until after the New Year, and the fruit trees will only be planted next spring."

"That’s fine, that’s fine! The timing isn’t an issue. I trust you won’t cheat us. I’d like to pre-order a batch."

"I also want to pre-order a batch."

Lin Feng looked at their anxious expressions. ’They’re afraid it’ll be like the Jade Grapes, and they won’t be able to buy any when the time comes.’

"Don’t worry. These products will just have a higher nutritional value than what’s on the market. It won’t be like the situation with the Jade Grapes. There shouldn’t be a mad rush to buy them."

Ma Yanyan said, "You never know. Who knows what might happen? We’ll pre-order a batch first."

"Yeah, just name your price! Is five million enough?"

"That’s way too much. And you don’t need to pay in advance for this. The price will be a little higher than the market rate. When the time comes, I’ll have the vegetables tested first. You can decide after you see the test results.

Rest assured, ladies. Let’s agree on this now. Once the vegetables are grown, I’ll set aside about ten pounds of vegetables for you each day. That should be enough, right?"

Ma Yanyan asked, "How many types of vegetables are you growing?"

"Scallions, ginger, garlic, cucumbers, tomatoes, chives, and celery. I’ve planted them in six greenhouses in total. I’ll take you to have a look."

Lin Feng led them to the Farmland on the north side. Because it was north of the road leading into the mountains, it was separated by the road, and very few people ever came this way.

Looking at the wheat that wasn’t covered by a greenhouse, Ma Yanyan, despite never having farmed, had the basic common sense expected of someone her age.

Wu Xin, on the other hand, was clueless. She had never done any farm work and didn’t understand any of it.

Yueyue was delighted to see the lush green wheat and asked her Mom to take her for a closer look.

"Isn’t this wheat growing a bit too tall?"

In Wuyuan County, wheat was typically harvested starting in May. For it to be this tall already meant it would never survive the winter.

Hearing this, Lin Feng knew that Sister Ma understood wheat. But there was nothing he could do; this was a result of the Farmland’s own abilities.

"It is growing too fast. I didn’t expect this to happen either. I can only leave it to fate and hope we don’t get heavy snow this year."

Wu Xin asked in a low voice, "Isn’t it a good thing for the wheat to grow so well?"

"You really don’t get it at all, do you? The wheat needs to mature next May. Normally, before the New Year, they’re just seedlings and don’t grow stalks.

Wheat like this will definitely grow stalks before the year is out. If there’s a heavy snowfall, they’ll be crushed and freeze to death."

Wu Xin thought about it and realized it was true. In winter, wheat in the countryside looked just like weeds. It would only start growing properly after the New Year, when the weather warmed up.

"In that case, Xiaofeng, why don’t you cover it with a greenhouse too?"

"Sister Wu, don’t worry. This wheat is just an experiment, so it’s fine if it dies. Let me show you the vegetables inside."

A wave of heat hit them as soon as they entered the greenhouse. It was 10°C warmer inside than outside.

The vegetables were a lush green, growing even faster than the wheat outside. Every time his parents came over, they would marvel at how quickly the vegetables were growing.

"It’s so hot. The temperature in here is so high."

"Mom, hot. Sweaty."

Wu Xin helped her daughter take off her coat, her own eyes lighting up as she looked at the vegetables inside.

"Xiaofeng, when the vegetables are ripe, give me a call. I’ll bring Yueyue over to pick them ourselves.

It’s a pity you’re not growing strawberries. Otherwise, we could come and pick them in the winter too."

"Mom, the veggie is so small!"

"Of course it’s small. This veggie is just like Yueyue; it hasn’t grown up yet."

"Then I’ll wait for it to grow big-big, and then I’ll eat the veggie."

"You little glutton."

Ma Yanyan hadn’t expected the vegetables in Lin Feng’s greenhouses to be growing so well either. It seemed he really hadn’t been exaggerating.

"When they’re ripe, give me a call too. I also want to come and personally pick the first batch of vegetables.

You should get that farm and Orchard of yours built quickly, too. I’m already looking forward to it."

"Soon, soon. I’m finding people today to start the construction."

Lin Feng took them on a tour of all six greenhouses, and both Wu Xin’s and Ma Yanyan’s moods improved considerably.

Although they hadn’t been able to buy more grapes, securing a future harvest of vegetables and getting Lin Feng’s promise was a pretty good outcome.

Meanwhile, a phone call from He Limin was bringing a top medical expert to Wuyuan County, heralding a different kind of change.
