Chapter 1115: Chapter 1103: Old Xu Rescue Plan Begins (Part 1)

After seeing off Luo Baochun and his team, Hu Xiaodong immediately called everyone to gather. After a simple distribution, they also set off on their journey.

"Everyone, pay attention to the road conditions and watch out for Huazi and their traces. If you discover anything, notify via the hand-held radio."

"Understood!"

The two cars moved forward, front and rear, with Hu Xiaodong leading the way.

Considering the snow accumulation, the car wasn’t moving very fast. After about an hour and a half of driving, Tang Xiaoquan in the passenger seat suddenly raised his hand and shouted: "There, over there, is it Huazi? Is it Huazi and them?"

Upon hearing this, Hu Xiaodong looked in the direction Tang Xiaoquan was pointing and indeed saw two figures beside the road.

"It’s Huazi! Haha, looks like they heard our engine and stopped to wait for us."

Slowing down, Hu Xiaodong let the car glide, and once they reached the two people, he steadily stepped on the brake.

"Hey, Huazi, you’ve had a rough journey." Rolling down the car window, Tang Xiaoquan leaned out to greet.

Hua Biao nonchalantly shook his head: "Let’s get in the car first, we’ll talk on the way."

Without waiting for Tang Xiaoquan to respond, Hua Biao and Duan Chengwu walked towards the back of the car.

"Haha, feeling a bit deflated!?" With a grin, Hu Xiaodong glanced at Tang Xiaoquan who was sitting in a daze and then released the brake: "That’s just their personality, don’t take it to heart."

Of course, Tang Xiaoquan wouldn’t take it to heart; he was just slightly caught off guard by Hua Biao’s urgent attitude.

The convoy continued to move forward. Being able to successfully meet Hua Biao and Duan Chengwu resolved a worry in Hu Xiaodong’s heart.

Meanwhile, in the five-story building in the desolate city, Xu Renjie was leaning against the corner of the wall, peering out into the street through the curtain gaps.

At this moment, due to the heavy snow, not many zombies had left the street.

Most zombies were stuck around the buildings because of the snow.

This made Old Xu’s idea of breaking through alone again fall short.

"Is it still the same?" Lei Tong walked up and asked.

"Same as usual!" Turning around, Old Xu returned to his seat.

"But at least the snow has stopped, I guess Little Hu over there is about to take action soon."

Nodding, Xu Renjie focused on the wireless hand-held radio on the table and solemnly said: "The upcoming operation is a major project. I don’t know what kind of danger we’ll encounter. Little Hu’s team is definitely having a hard time figuring things out."

"Indeed, with so many zombies, trying to divert them to create an escape opportunity for us is not easy. But with Little Hu and Quan in charge, the problem shouldn’t be too big."

Recognizing the concern on his commander’s face, Lei Tong comforted him.

Without speaking, Xu Renjie just stared at the hand-held radio in a daze, now regretting his original decision.

If he hadn’t insisted on meeting the bandits back then, they wouldn’t be in such peril now.

Things aren’t good now; not only is he trapped in a circle of zombies, but the whole team is tirelessly working because of it.

This was clearly not what Old Xu wanted to see; his earlier decision was fundamentally to make the team more ruthless and not as lenient as before, which led to being constrained everywhere.

But unfortunately, the reality is that the situation has occurred, and it’s now pointless to regret. The important thing is how to respond and minimize potential danger.

After contemplating, Old Xu finally spoke: "Let’s prepare."

"What should we prepare? Commander, just give the order."

"When we break through, we’re bound to encounter zombies. Find some thick clothes for the kids to increase protection. Also, pack the remaining supplies for carrying, and choose the lightweight ones. If any unexpected situation arises, these supplies can help us hold off for a while. As for the rest... let’s go with this for now."

"Alright, commander, I’ll get to it now."

On the other side, after hours of careful trekking, the convoy led by Hu Xiaodong finally arrived at the desolate city WH.

Entering the downtown area, everyone became alert as a large number of zombies, unseen for a long time, appeared in droves.

However, these creatures were restrained by the snow, collapsing to the ground with just a slight movement.

Staring at these pathetic-looking creatures, Tang Xiaoquan couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

"What’s wrong, Xiaotang? Are you feeling unwell?" Hearing the young man next to him taking big breaths, Hu Xiaodong anxiously asked.

"Oh, no, I just thought of something." Still frowning, Tang Xiaoquan responded calmly.

"What’s so important? If you don’t mind, why not share it?" Knowing the young man’s personality, Hu Xiaodong understood that Tang Xiaoquan wouldn’t change expression without reason, so he must have thought of something important.

"It’s nothing much; I just thought, with the snow so thick, zombies’ movements will be severely restricted, and this might complicate our plan to lure them away."

The longer the sound source is active, the more zombies it will attract, so it can’t be kept open continuously. It must be turned off remotely at the appropriate time.

And with the current situation, the snow stopping zombies’ movements will undoubtedly increase the sound source activity time, and this could attract zombies from further away.

This will clearly add variables to the entire rescue plan, which is why Tang Xiaoquan suddenly became serious.

Understanding what the young man was thinking, Hu Xiaodong nodded lightly: "This is indeed something we must consider, but you don’t need to worry too much. Once we arrive, we’ll have to set up the sound source, besides communicating with Old Xu for confirmation, which will take some time. It’ll probably take at least a day after that before we take any action. By then, the city’s snow should have mostly melted, and if not, we can wait a few more days. Since we’re already in the desolate city, as long as Old Xu’s team has enough supplies, we can come up with solutions."

Replying with a smile and a "yeah," Tang Xiaoquan then glanced into the distance, hoping in his heart that things would go as smoothly as Hu Xiaodong anticipated.

Just hoping isn’t enough, though. Tang Xiaoquan’s mind wasn’t free from worry.

Because no one can guarantee that the weather will stay clear in the coming days, and if it deteriorates again, it will definitely not be good news for the Survivor Squad’s upcoming actions.

After driving in the city for about half an hour, the convoy finally chose a small building to stop.

This small building is about two blocks away from Old Xu’s building, with a straight-line distance of 500 meters, able to be reached in a few minutes by car.

Apart from this, another important point is that standing at the top of this small building provides a clear view of the street where the sound source is planned to be buried.

Thus, when the operation begins, the survivors can stay in the base and easily monitor the situation at the sound source site and where Old Xu is trapped.

This is essentially the so-called command from the city, winning battles from thousands of miles away.

Getting out of the car, Hu Xiaodong instructed Tang Xiaoquan, Wang Qiang, and Wei Dazhuang to stay in the car.

He, along with Hua Biao, Duan Chengwu, and Huo Yuankai, went to the building with their gear.

This approach effectively avoided the risk of being surrounded and captured by zombies.

With that, the survivors’ rescue plan officially unfolded, but the final outcome remains unknown.
