Chapter 1106: Chapter 1094

"Actually, it’s nothing much, Old Lin, mainly... I just want to have a few brothers accompany my brother out, so he won’t be alone on the road... hehe, you know he doesn’t have much experience killing zombies, so..."

"Then I’ll go."

"I’ll go too!"

Upon hearing Li Zhong’s explanation, Hua Biao and Shen Lian both stepped up to volunteer.

Old Zhao quickly intervened: "Hey, hey, you two stay put, we have enough people here at the base. You’ve been up all night, don’t worry about it. Xiao Guo, I’ll accompany you for a trip later."

"Uncle Zhao, you can’t go alone. Little Wu, let’s go with Uncle Zhao," Wen Quanxin nudged Wu Chao’s arm. Without a word, Wu Chao nodded immediately.

"Is there anything else needed?"

"Nothing, Old Lin, I’ve got everything ready," Li Guo said, showing the backpack on his back.

"Great! Since that’s settled, Old Zhao, you guys can head out!"

With that, Old Zhao, Wu Chao, Wen Quanxin, and Li Guo geared up with their weapons and equipment and left the base.

"Li Zhong, what do we do next?" Lin Junfu asked, watching Li Guo and the others leave.

Li Zhong calmly took off his backpack, then one by one took out the sound equipment he had developed.

After arranging everything neatly, he linked them to a portable laptop.

Once all was set up, Li Zhong replied, "Everyone, please close the doors and windows. I’ll turn on the loudspeaker once the connection is established."

"Oh, is that it? Okay, hurry up and close the doors and windows tightly."

In a post-apocalyptic world, making noise is no joke, but it’s crucial to test all speakers beforehand to ensure they’re operational for the upcoming mission.

Fortunately, the sounds of the wind and snow are loud enough to mask the noise, which provides some help to the survivors.

Old Zhao’s team trudged through the snow, realizing that you don’t know how bad it is until you venture out.

Though Old Zhao, Wu Chao, and Wen Quanxin had been regularly clearing the snow recently, making it tough to walk, they were fairly adapted.

But Li Guo, the bookworm, wasn’t faring well. He’d fall after a few steps due to his poor balance.

Seeing Li Guo’s embarrassing state, Wen Quanxin couldn’t help but tease: "I say, Xiao Guo, you’re too weak, look at you... Hey, starting tomorrow, join my brother in training, got it?"

Li Guo was too busy to even respond to Wen Quanxin’s teasing.

Old Zhao sternly reprimanded: "Alright Xiao Wen, say less, keep an eye on the road, watch out for zombies!!"

The trip was just a hundred meters from home, but with the heavy snowfall, dangers might be lurking anywhere.

So it’s necessary to be cautious and careful.

After passing through the toughest village exit, the four turned right to continue.

After crossing the snow-covered wild grass behind enemy lines, Li Guo estimated the base’s distance and checked the instrument in his hand, signaling to halt: "Alright, everyone, you can stop now."

"Is this spot good?" Wu Chao asked.

"Yes, the distance and location are fine."

"Good, Xiao Guo, you’re the expert on this, we don’t understand, if you need us to do anything, just say the word."

Old Zhao’s words were understood by Li Guo, but there wasn’t much the team could do next.

"You guys stand guard, I’ll handle the tuning!" With them being family, Li Guo wasn’t shy and gave instructions, then unloaded his backpack to start setting up the equipment.

The equipment he brought was much simpler than Li Zhong’s at the base: a hand-held radio, a laptop, and the main piece for this test, the control device designed in collaboration with Li Zhong.

This device enables remote control of the base’s sound system, hence its effectiveness directly impacts mission success.

"Hey, brother, it’s Xiao Guo, I’m in position, please reply over!"

At the base, the survivors sat solemnly, all staring anxiously at the radio on the table.

This is their only means of communication with the field team, so...

Li Zhong is the most worried, with his brother alone outside, he remains anxious.

It’s not that he doesn’t trust Old Zhao and the others’ protection, but as an older brother, he simply can’t calm down.

"ZZZ!" The radio emitted static, and as his brother’s voice cut in and out, Li Zhong’s tension slightly eased.

"Brother, it’s Li Zhong, your report has been received, you can start the test! Repeat, you can start the test!"

Li Zhong’s words were clear to everyone, and they eagerly anticipated the final test results.

Especially Hua Biao and the others, knowing that the outcome of this test directly impacts the upcoming mission’s results.

"Start the test now, Xiao Guo!" The radio signal got through clearly, Old Zhao heard it well.

Setting down his cleaver, he patted Li Guo on the shoulder.

"Yes!" Li Guo emphatically nodded, placing his hand on the control device, then pressed the first button.

As he pressed the first button, the speaker at the base activated.

"BEEP~" The sound was quite piercing, thankfully, the doors and windows had been shut, with only one sound source turned on.

If it had produced more noise, it would’ve surely attracted all the nearby zombies.

"Brother, the signal is on, how is it on your side? Is the sound source activated?"

"OK, wait 3 minutes, after 3 minutes you shut it off yourself."

"Received!"

The purpose of this is to test the sound source’s sustainability.

Since the mission can’t be completed in just tens of seconds, if you want to lure all zombies to a target spot, a sustained noise is required.

Therefore, to thoroughly test the sound source’s reliability, it must be simulated as close to real conditions as possible.

Prolonged noise is quite uncomfortable for the human ear, especially within an enclosed space. Over time, everyone began experiencing ringing in their ears.

Yet, no one suggested leaving.

Everyone remained seated, their eyes fixed on the life-saving device emitting constant noise.

Eyes firmly on their wrists, as soon as the three-minute timer ended, Li Guo promptly released the switch button.

Picking up the radio, he inquired again: "Brother, I’ve turned off the device, how is it over there?"

"All good, the sound source has stopped, you can start testing the second one."

Three minutes may seem long but not short, but for every member of the survivor team, it is very critical.

Upon hearing Li Zhong say "all good," even if everyone may not understand the principles, they could ensure the equipment passed the test.

Perhaps thanks to a good beginning, the subsequent eleven device tests were completed successfully.

Once all tests were done, the field team packed up and returned along the original path.

Back at the base, the brothers "Zhong" and "Guo" received their deserved praise.

If it weren’t for them working tirelessly throughout the night, how could the survivor team complete all the necessary sound equipment for the mission in just one day?
