Chapter 763: Chapter 599: True Demon Attack

Ji An asked suspiciously, “Why don’t you exchange these resources in the warehouse?”

Wan Jinrong said helplessly,

“The fortress warehouse requires exchange by demand. I want to stockpile some, so I came to you.”

Strategic resources such as Vajra Pill, Purifying Talisman, and Spirit Stabilizing Talisman are allocated normally to combat personnel, but other ‘administrative staff’ need to exchange for them, with strict limitations on quantity.

If he goes to exchange, he can get at most two of each because he always stays inside the fortress.

Ji An pondered his reserves; he needed to keep enough to handle future situations.

He planted a batch of the talisman materials, which would be ready for harvest in a few years, but for Vajra Pill materials, he only had one major ingredient, the Vajra Bodhi Fruit, and buying other ingredients would probably be difficult.

After a moment of contemplation, he replied,

“I can sell at most a hundred top-grade Purifying Talismans, five top-grade Spirit Stabilizing Talismans, and twenty fine Vajra Pills.”

Wan Jinrong waved his hand grandly, saying,

“I’ll take them all; how many Spirit Stones?”

The other party directly offered top-grade talismans and high-quality pills without evading, which pleased him greatly.

Ji An recalled and said,

“Let’s calculate based on the price given by the Certification Association: five top-grade Spirit Stones for each top-grade Spirit Stabilizing Talisman, three hundred lower-grade Spirit Stones for each top-grade Purifying Talisman, and four hundred Spirit Stones per fine Vajra Pill.

A total of twenty-five top-grade Spirit Stones and thirty-eight thousand lower-grade Spirit Stones.”

He considered offering discounts to others, doing good deeds unsung.

“Is this two years ago’s price? It’s too unfair to you, Fellow Daoist; I would hesitate to ask next time.”

Wan Jinrong took out the top-grade Spirit Stones and counted some,

“Thirty top-grade Spirit Stones; don’t mind if it’s a little.

Once we leave Wulan Mountain, I’ll buy pills at market prices. You’re helping me; I can’t let you suffer loss.”

Resources like Purifying Talisman are sure to be strategic reserves for various forces. Though the family has stock, it’s public stock; it’s best to keep some private reserves ready.

Ji An declined once and then accepted the Spirit Stones, taking out the talismans and pills to give to the other party.

Wan Jinrong counted the items, put them into the Grotto Void Stone, and smiled,

“Daoist friend, practicing alchemy and cultivation on the loft every day, consistent for two years; I think sometimes it must be boring.

I’ve been idle lately; why don’t we join a patrol mission together? We can get a direct sense of the battles we might face in the future.”

He paused, with a touch of pride in his tone,

“Don’t worry about safety; we follow Jinru’s team. My sister is quite skilled in battle!”

Ji An smiled lightly, “That’s feasible, but my duties are always heavy, and I can rest one day in ten.

Arrange the time well, and I’ll notify Zhang Haoyang, who manages material reserves, in advance.”

“Great, let’s settle it that way.”

….

At noon, four Chao Origin Stage cultivators frantically fled, each driving their Spiritual Artifact, with Moyun Daoist Master trailing behind in a red cloud.

A fully equipped squad, including one Golden Core Stage cultivator, around fifteen Chao Origin Stage cultivators, and fifty Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators, now reduced to just five survivors.

Moyun Daoist Master was not in good condition, with bulging veins on his face and exposed skin, looking like crazed dark-red magic serpents twisting.

Clearly, his body had been tainted, and judging by his twisted expression, he was feeling very uncomfortable.

Their foe was a True Demon with two curved red goat horns and bat-like leather wings.

The True Demon, standing two zhang tall, emitted black smoke from its horns. It had no feet but thick hooves resembling horse hooves, with hideous red skin that looked blood-drenched, akin to a skinned frog.

It wielded a Bone Blade radiating red glow, with twisted black patterns on the blade, its face full of cat-and-mouse amusement.

Whenever the enemy drew near, Moyun Daoist Master engaged in counterattacks with his Magical Treasure.

His Magical Treasure transformed into a two-zhang-long red Flying Sword, much thicker and broader than regular Flying Swords.

Every attack by the Magical Treasure was accompanied by a fiery storm; however, his once-proud Fire Spirit Power, no matter how fiercely it burned, couldn’t affect the True Demon.

The True Demon bathed in flames, issuing wild, ferocious laughter.

Moreover, the bone blade wielded by the True Demon parried the slashes from the Magical Treasure. The once-thunderous attacks failed to make an impact, leaving Moyun Daoist Master increasingly agitated.

He was merely a Fourth-Layer Golden Core cultivator. Judging by the demonic energy’s overflowing dominance from the adversary, the foe likely was a late-stage Golden Core True Demon.

In the entire Black Wind Ridge fortress, only Yun Yan Daoist Master could match it.

The True Demon mocked them,

“Is this all you can do? Run, you pathetic insects, but your fate is sealed; your flesh will be devoured by my darling!”

Moyun Daoist Master couldn’t comprehend the True Demon’s language, but could grasp its meaning.

Not just him, the other survivors also discerned the mockery from the True Demon.

“Daoist Master, don’t worry about us, just leave,”

one cultivator shouted bitterly, as without their burden, he might have escaped by now.

Another cultivator hoarsely urged, “Daoist Master, flee first, and remember to avenge us.”

The remaining two faced each other in panic, fearing Moyun Daoist Master might abandon them. Though chances were slim, his presence offered a glimmer of hope.

If the Daoist Master fled alone, their survival was certain to be impossible.

“Daoist Master, we should be near the fortress now. If we persist, everyone’s life can be saved.”
