Chapter 929: Chapter 732: Anomaly in the Dragon Vein
Qin An originally planned to immediately start cultivating the Array Master and Pill Master professions, reaching level twenty-seven in both before initiating the next transformation.
But when the cultivator’s voice rang out, he slightly furrowed his brow, immediately halting his thoughts and turning to look at the entering cultivator.
"What’s happened? Such urgency."
The cultivator continued with a respectful tone: "Your subordinate also doesn’t know what exactly has happened. It’s just that the Emperor seemed very anxious, so he sent me to invite Mr. Qin to take a look."
Qin An stroked his chin and nodded: "Alright, I understand, you may go now."
The cultivator said no more and turned to leave the room.
The room fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Qin An picked up his tea cup, took a small sip, and then put the cup down, sinking into contemplation.
Emperor Xuanwu knew he was busy here, and would never summon him unless it was something extremely important.
So he knew something big, indeed very big, might have happened with Emperor Xuanwu.
And now, the only matter significant enough for his presence was likely related to the Heavenly Demons.
After pondering for a moment, Qin An no longer hesitated. He then turned and left the room, heading toward the Imperial Study.
...
The Imperial Study was extremely quiet at this time.
Emperor Xuanwu sat in his chair, tapping his fingertips lightly on the table.
Before him lay a folded document, which he had already closed, but the many marks of flipping through were visible.
He had read this document multiple times, the contents were memorized backwards and forwards, but he still looked through it again.
Because he wanted to see if he could discover any solutions within.
And just as he was about to pick it up for another read, Qin An’s footsteps suddenly sounded.
Emperor Xuanwu came to his senses and then turned his gaze forward.
The door opened, and Qin An walked in briskly.
When he saw the document on Emperor Xuanwu’s desk, he instantly understood.
Emperor Xuanwu pointed to the seat beside him, saying: "Sit down, let’s discuss slowly."
Qin An nodded slightly, without wasting words, took the seat opposite Emperor Xuanwu, but his gaze remained fixed on the document on the desk.
Emperor Xuanwu handed the document to Qin An and slowly began to speak: "Take a look, this crisis seems to be somewhat different this time."
Qin An took the document from Emperor Xuanwu’s hand, carefully checked it over, and his brow furrowed tightly.
The document contained a lot, but the entire content centered on two words: Dragon Vein.
It stated that recently, near the Daqian Kingdom, there was a place called Wuyun City.
This city is a provincial capital.
Within the capital, there originally lay hidden a Dragon Vein, albeit not much, but nonetheless existent.
Yet recently, this Dragon Vein abruptly depleted slightly.
The Dragon Vein is vital to the whole Daqian Kingdom’s safety and fortune.
If the Dragon Vein flourishes, there would be favorable weather for crops, allowing the people to recuperate and live prosperously long-term; but if it weakens or disappears, it would unleash all manner of natural and manmade disasters, making the people, akin to a small boat amid a storm, drift precariously.
Hence, the Dragon Vein is of utmost importance to any world.
Now the Dragon Vein is gradually weakening, indicating something amiss.
After a moment of contemplation, Qin An rose and said: "Your Majesty, have you sent anyone to investigate what has really happened?"
Emperor Xuanwu shook his head: "I’ve sent people to check, but found no clues, even I went personally."
"With my strength investigating the Dragon Vein here should be the simplest thing, considering that I, as the Emperor of Daqian, am acknowledged by the Dragon Vein."
"Yet the Dragon Vein is steadily depleting, almost as though it’s reached an age, heading toward death."
"Though its quantity there isn’t much, if left unchecked, the repercussions could spread, surely causing changes in other Dragon Veins."
"When that time comes, other Dragon Veins will deplete simultaneously, making preserving Daqian Kingdom’s stability, even if desired, difficult."
"When that time dawns, not only Daqian Kingdom, but everything within sight shall descend into catastrophe, even without the Heavenly Demons’ descension, eventual destruction is assured."
Qin An pondered for a bit before saying: "If that’s the case, I will have to go there to investigate."
The sudden emergence of this situation led Qin An to think it might be linked to the Heavenly Demons, or perhaps other reasons.
But regardless of the reason, it was a necessary visit for Qin An.
Firstly, it’s because the Dragon Vein concerns Daqian Kingdom’s stability, with its depletion forcing the Kingdom to also tackle various natural and manmade disasters; Secondly, Qin An’s Array Master profession could harness the Dragon Vein’s power.
With the Dragon Vein’s depletion, upon Heavenly Demon descension, Qin An would lose a way to counter them.
Either way, the visit was essential.
Moreover, what Emperor Xuanwu couldn’t discover doesn’t mean Qin An couldn’t, because Qin An had manipulated several Dragon Veins before, thus he was quite familiar with various Dragon Vein situations.
Emperor Xuanwu, relieved to hear Qin An’s resolve, said: "It’s excellent that you can go check, I believe you can smooth this over."
If it were anyone else, Emperor Xuanwu might not have confidence, as the Dragon Vein’s power is exceedingly mysterious.
