Chapter 569 Infiction
[Congratulations! You have just risen to level 121!].
After a little over 30 incessant minutes of battle, all of the Giant Rats, at least all of the ones that filled that section of the sewer that Kaizen, were killed.
Kaizen, a little out of breath, looked at the notification of his current level and smiled.
“I gained 5 levels in a short time. This is a great farming area, at least much better than the one I went to with Andrew. Maybe, I should stay in that town for a while longer…” He thought aloud. “No, I can’t. I have to see if Alina, OG and the Royal Family are alright. Not to mention I hope Arthas is alive, because I couldn’t help him like I promised Ravastine I would.” Reflected Kaizen.
With his thoughts returning to his worries, Kaizen felt he needed to distract himself a bit more, and exploring the sewers a bit more before heading back to the surface was a great alternative. Kaizen observed the spot where he was and realized that he could go a little deeper into the sewers. Therefore, he climbed into a tunnel that seemed a bit larger and started following it.
The fetid smell and sepulchral silence still filled the room, giving off an uneasy feeling, but Kaizen was almost used to the gloomy atmosphere of places like this. Not to mention that he was still wrapped in the blood of the Giant Rats.
As he advanced through the dark tunnels, Kaizen noticed that the density of enemies was low.
‘Probably rooms like the one I was in is some kind of nest. That’s why there were so many. He theorized.
However, he also sensed a subtle change in the air, there was a strange smell, but one that somehow seemed familiar as well. It was a sour smell mixed with a salty odor.
After a few twists and turns, Kaizen found another room like the one he was in. However, in this room was a hooded figure. She was crouched down, apparently examining something closely. As he approached, Kaizen noticed from the small, thin body that this figure was a girl, probably a gamer like himself.
“Hello?” called Kaizen cautiously, so as not to startle her and thus avoid a confrontation.
The girl turned around quickly. Her eyes met Kaizen’s, and she seemed surprised to see him. She wore a dark cloak that covered most of her body, but her eyes shone with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.
“Who are you?” she asked, her voice sounding soft. She had blonde hair and brown eyes.
“My name is Klaus. I am exploring the sewers in search of experience. And you?”
The girl turned her attention back to what she was examining. “My name is Nyx. I’m an adventurer, I’m doing a mission here. The quickest way to an exit is to the left.” She said, pointing to a tunnel to her left.
Kaizen felt there was something special about Nyx. She didn’t seem like an ordinary player, and her interest in what was on the ground intrigued him.
“Did you find anything interesting there?” asked Kaizen, curious.
As he approached, Kaizen was amazed to see a mysterious greenish liquid flowing through small cracks in the ground. That liquid emitted a soft and mysterious glow, illuminating the surrounding environment, and was also very similar to the liquid that was in some of the Giant Rats.
“What could that be?” wondered Kaizen, as he observed that strange substance and approached.

“What do you think you are doing? Are you trying to interfere and steal my mission?” She inquired, angrily.
Kaizen quickly raised his hands in surrender, realizing he had made a mistake by approaching without warning. He noticed that Nix was clearly guarding the area where the greenish liquid flowed, and this indicated that the substance was of utmost importance to his mission.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interfere. I was just curious about what you were examining.” Kaizen replied, maintaining a calm and friendly posture.
Nix did not lower his dagger, but seemed to realize that Kaizen posed no immediate threat. His brown eyes were filled with suspicion.
“Curiosity can kill, you know?” she replied, holding the dagger in position.
Kaizen sighed and, with a swift movement, grabbed the blade with his right hand, stopping Nix from attacking him.
The woman was extremely surprised by his speed, for even though she was an Assassin-class player, she couldn’t see or predict this move. So, he quickly jumped back and pulled out a knife that was hidden in a holder on his ankle.
At that moment, Kaizen looked at her with a bit of disdain and threw the knife, which passed between her hair, went through her hood and pinned her to the wall. Then he bent down to examine the green liquid with all the calmness in the world.
“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?!” She screamed and tried to get up to stop him, only to be knocked back down by her hood being stuck. “Urrgh! That thing…” She pulled out the dagger stuck in her hood as fast as she could and thought about advancing against Kaizen.
However, the Psyker pointed the Night Sword in her direction, which stopped her from advancing.
“Easy, easy, girl. I’m just curious. I promise I won’t steal your mission…”
“If you’re not going to steal from me, why are you so determined to see it through that you attack me?”
Kaizen turned his neck towards her and replied:
“Believe me, I’ve seen all sorts of things in this game, but I’ve never seen anything like this…. When I killed the giant rats, in the names of some of them there was a message saying that they were infected.”𝑂𝒱𝓛xt.𝗇𝓔t
“Infected? By what?”
“That’s what I want to find out and that’s why I’m so interested in it here. The rats were secreting a liquid much like this from their eyes and mouths, but their liquid was less shiny…” Kaizen stated, staring at the substance.
Nix narrowed his eyes. “Are you saying that a pandemic might be happening among the monsters that hang out in the city sewers because of this stuff?”
“Yes, that must be it. And if you guys don’t worry about it, you’ll have big problems in the future. It would suck if it started passing to humans.” Kaizen said and stood up. “Anyway, it’s not my problem… I’m just passing through.” He lowered his sword.
“Wait, you’re smarter than you look… Can you help me with this? This could turn into a big mission.”
“Um…” Kaizen took a moment to think. “I don’t think so. I have to go to the Royal Capital later today or tomorrow.” He said, already walking towards the tunnel on the left.
“What are you looking for in the Royal Capital? A specific mission? A blacksmith? That’s my spawn city, I can help you. Or, if you don’t want to travel, I know a lot of Pokkir too.”
Finally, Nix managed to pique Kaizen’s interest. “There’s something I want…” He stated, turning to look at her.
