Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player

Chapter 53 Emptying Inventory

p After receiving the information about the Adventurers’ Association, Kaizen decided that the best thing to do was not to delay too long in visiting this place. The name exuded a bit of importance and grandeur, so it was probably a place that doesn’t usually stay open until the early morning hours.

For Kaizen, the best thing to do now was to visit the Adventurers Association, then head to a tavern where he would find a tavern keeper with a loose tongue, lots of knowledge, and lots of cheap food.

So, Kaizen opened the game interface and clicked on MAP. After running his eye over the many basic points of interest marked on the map, he found an icon showing exactly where that association was.

‘Hmm… It would be nice if they had marked the auction house as well.’

Immediately, the novice made his way to the place pointed on the map by a blue emblem and a gold shield.

The city of Holinda was huge, very big indeed. If Kaizen were to compare the size of this city with some other place he frequented, this place would probably be Manhattan. In fact, there was even a certain similarity in how these two places behaved.

Holinda was as beautiful by night as it was by day, but the feeling of walking through the streets was totally different when the sun disappeared.

The usual utility stores closed, and the taverns stood out with the loud music coming from inside. The smell of food spread through the streets in the early evening, and during the dawn, the smell of alcohol numbed those who persisted in the cold that the moon brought with it.

Instead, during the day, the streets had a warm, lively, and pertinent appearance. During the night, everyone stopped caring about it and just enjoyed themselves.

As Kaizen walked around the city, it was not uncommon to find groups of people drinking and dancing. It seemed that the habit of the rowdy, partying NPCs was catching on with the players, who were also dancing, jumping, and drinking. For a moment, Kaizen felt that he had plunged straight into a page from a book set in a fantasy world.

When he finally arrived at the Adventurers’ Association, he could find no other way to express his impression if not with a…

“Wow…”

The building where the association was located was like a large medieval mansion. There was a triangular roof with perfectly arranged tiles, as well as thick wooden beams, and a beautiful entrance garden. On the plaque above the double door was the exact name of the place, making it easy to identify.

Kaizen realized that he was in luck. The place looked empty. So, he opened the door and entered.

*Ring! Ring!*

The bell behind the door tinkled, drawing the attention of the man leaning over the counter. He had a bored expression on his face, but when he saw Kaizen, he cracked a huge smile. Quickly, the receptionist went around the counter and bowed to Kaizen.

“H-hoy, si-sir! My name is Pavin Dunhall. What can I do for you?” The man said, a little elated.

Mr. Dunhall was wearing a long dark blue overcoat filled with details on the sleeves and collars of what appeared to be gold leaves and lines. This outfit had so many antique details that it looked more like wallpaper from a house from the 1600s.

Kaizen frowned at the man’s proactivity and kindness, who looked almost thirty years old.

The only nice people Kaizen had met in Rise Online were Oloster and Therkara, so he was still a little wary of any kindness that escaped the ignorant pattern of users and NPCs.

“Good evening, man. You may call me Kaizen… I want to sell some items. I was told that you guys in the association often buy some things.”

“Yes, yes, that’s perfect! Come, come closer. I’ll see what I can do for you, sir.” Pavin Dunhall went behind the counter and started looking for something in the bookcase.

The room was completely empty, there was only Kaizen and Pavin Dunhall in the place. Taking a step after the receptionist’s call, Kaizen left the entrance area and walked to the counter. The creaks caused by the novice’s heavy stepping echoed through the place, where there were also many tables and chairs to sit on, giving the appearance of an unpopular tavern.

“Is this place usually this empty?” Kaizen asked as he looked up at the high ceiling, where there was a glass chandelier.

Pavin Dunhall seemed engaged in his search. Still, he answered as he looked around:

“During the day, this place gets pretty crowded. People come here to have lunch, sell items, collect chores from the citizens, and that sort of thing, but at night it looks like a graveyard. It’s a shithole… I mean, it’s kind of lonely.”

“It must be nice to work in a place where you have nothing to do,” Kaizen commented, crossing his strong arms.

Since Pavin Dunhall was too polite to retort to a customer, he just nodded with a closed smile at the statement and placed a large purple-covered book on the counter.

“Here is the record book. Tell me everything you want to sell, and I will immediately make a receipt for you, Mister Kaizen.”

Finally, Kaizen was able to get rid of the weight debuff when he sold all the items that he thought would not be important at the moment, especially the ores, which were the things that weighed the most. After all, for the time being, the ores were nothing but weight to carry around in his inventory. He still needed to find a way to get a job in a forge because if he tried to continue forging in the Medullar Forge, he would probably be constantly hindered by other players and the respawning of the Scarlet Demon Spider.

Even though Pavin Dunhall had said that many monster types of meat were edible, Kaizen chose not to take even one drop from the Black Vultures or the Scorpion Spiders. He hated even the idea of his tongue touching a monster’s corpse.𝑢𝐕𝓁xt.π’Έπ’π‘š
