Kaizen watched the creature carefully as it moved slowly. Its paws scratched the ground and its eyes were fixed on Kaizen as he tried to confuse it by walking around it. At that moment, he knew that even though the King Spider-Scorpion was slow, it could strike back any blow, for in addition to eight huge paws, it also had a large tail with a poisonous sting.

Still a little dizzy from the sonic stun, he tried to concentrate on his breathing, trying to find the calm and serenity he needed to face the monster with an analytical eye. Against a creature like this, there was no point in using brute force alone, as he could easily suffer a series of blows.

Wielding his sword firmly, Kaizen took a fighting stance and faced the monster in front of him. The best he could do for now was to fight reactively.

The Scorpion Spider King lunged forward with two claws raised, ready to rip Kaizen apart. The young warrior quickly dodged, jumping back and avoiding the creature’s attack. Seizing the opportunity, he struck another blow with his sword at the monster’s hide, and once again, the metal struck the scorpion king’s hide, making a metallic sound and bouncing back without doing any damage. Kaizen realized that the creature was nearly impenetrable, and that his direct attacks would be ineffective. He would have to find a way to weaken the creature before attempting a more effective attack, or use some ability to make his attack more powerful, and coincidentally or not, he had learned how to do that in the Hokku region.

As the monster advanced again, its claws moving frantically, Kaizen dodged once more and positioned himself in a defensive stance, waiting for the next attack. He had to allow the monster to become confident and overbearing so that he could take advantage of the gap.

The King Spider-Scorpion spun quickly, attempting to catch Kaizen with its scorpion tail. The young Psyker jumped aside to avoid the venomous blow. At that moment, he took advantage of the opening to strike again, aiming for the monster’s legs.

[He activated the <Deep Cut> skill.]

His sword sliced through the air in a rapid arc, hitting one of the Scorpion Spider King’s legs. A metallic sound rang through the air, and the monster growled in pain and rage, but the blow was still not enough to sever its leg. Kaizen knew from the damage report that the attack was more effective than the previous ones, so he prepared to strike again.

The King Spider-Scorpion suddenly lurched forward in a fit of rage, dragging the sand from the ground it passed over like a tractor.

Kaizen quickly realized that the creature was becoming more aggressive and desperate, and that its movements were becoming faster and more unpredictable, so he smiled and took the opportunity to approach the monster, aiming again at its legs. Swinging his curved-bladed saber, he delivered another diagonal strike, hitting the same paw that had been injured earlier. The spider scorpion growled in pain and rage as this leg was torn off, and swung its poisonous tail in a frantic motion toward the player.

Out of pure reflex, Kaizen moved the sword in his hands to block the poisonous tail.

*Tim*

The metallic sound of the sword blocking the Scorpion Spider King’s poisonous tail echoed through the area around the Elder Tree, and Kaizen felt the force of the blow through his sword.

The metal of Kaizen’s sword withstood the impact of the scorpion king’s attack, and the young warrior seized the opportunity to strike back. He struck a horizontal blow at the creature’s head, which dodged at the last second and jumped aside.

The creature was now extremely aggressive, snarling and moving frantically with its claws and poisonous tail. Kaizen knew he couldn’t keep up this pace for long without expending more than necessary, so he prepared for a final attack.

He waited patiently for the Scorpion Spider King to approach once more, then jumped aside at the last second and delivered a swift and accurate <Deep Cut> strike to its shell. This time, his sword managed to pierce the hard surface, and the creature screamed in pain as Kaizen withdrew the blade. Knowing that he wouldn’t have much time before the monster recovered, Kaizen took the opportunity to deliver a series of quick blows to the King Spider Scorpion’s carapace at the same spot. Each blow dealt more damage and infuriated the creature even more, so much so that when Kaizen climbed on top of it, it started pacing back and forth in the forest, knocking over trees and hitting rocks, but Kaizen didn’t let go of his sword until the monster finally fell to the ground, defeated.

[You have killed a King Spider-Scorpion. You have gained +50000 XP].

[You have obtained ‘King Spider-Scorpion Core’ (1x).]

[You have obtained ‘King Spider-Scorpion Flesh’ (5x).]

[You have obtained ‘Acid Venom’ (10x).]

Psyker slowly stepped down from the creature, still holding his sword and looking at the large fallen monster in front of him.

It was a tough fight, but he managed to win thanks to his skill and intelligence, and to prove to himself that he was strong, he didn’t even need to use <Giant’s Lungs>.

Then, as the creature began to crumble, Kaizen heard a bark, and when he turned around, he saw his pet Hellround.

“Hey, what are you doing to me? I thought I left you to keep Og’tharoz company!”

The dog barked again, somewhat excitedly, and immediately began to devour the Spider King Scorpion’s body like a juicy steak.

Kaizen chuckled at the sight of his pet’s behavior, and as the animal enjoyed the flesh of the defeated creature, he began to examine the items he had collected.
