Chapter 30 Scarlet Demon Spider
Kaizen equipped the Old Bow as he took the last Huko Arrow in his quiver and, in one swift movement, fired the arrow at the Scarlet Demon Spider.
Therkara Ironstone was about to run to get the creature’s attention, but suddenly she saw a black arrow with a green tip flying toward the monster’s large head.
The Scarlet Demon Spider reacted quickly. It suddenly stood up and closed its four blade-shaped front claws to block the Huko Arrow.
However, when the claws touched the arrow, the green-tipped arrow suddenly began to spin like a drill, bouncing off the creature’s claws. The arrow bent upwards and immediately entered the monster’s eye, penetrating its skull and exploding.
*BOOOOM*
[Critical hit!]
Kaizen’s shot was sharp, almost perfect, as it somehow didn’t explode prematurely and managed to explode inside the monster. Even with only half its head, the Boss stood firm, but it appeared to have suffered quite a bit.
Kaizen sighed, still looking excited, and started to back away slowly.
“Therkara, hide!” He shouted to the dwarf lady.
At this point, Kaizen was already free from the bonds of having to protect Therkara Ironstone to avoid death, since she was already dead, so the guide to her was just a way of forewarning that she would not intrude. Thus, the only thing that could make the current mission fail would be the rookie’s own death.
The Scarlet Demon Spider glared furiously at the black-haired man and roared again, making the walls of the place shake.
Kaizen immediately started running around the Medullar Forge. All his arrows had run out, and since he had no other weapon to use at the moment, this was his only alternative. As he ran, a warning screen about the mission appeared in the upper right corner of his vision.
[The mission ‘The Lost Links’ has been updated].
[The current objective of this quest is: Eliminate the Scarlet Demon Spider].
‘Shit, can’t you guys see that I’m trying?!’ Kaizen thought, outraged.
However, the more he ran from the Boss through the chamber, the closer the monster got, and the more often the warning about the mission objective appeared to disturb him.
‘Okay, okay, okay! You win!’
Kaizen had almost no MP left after shooting the last Huko Arrow, and since he didn’t have many options, he would have to risk everything again.
He looked at the huge pile of weapons and tools near the crane and found nothing that particularly caught his attention.
‘I’ll do it with my eyes closed, maybe then fate will help me.’ He concluded, turned his head to the opposite side of the pile, closed his eyes, and used <Telekinesis> to draw a random weapon.
Spending the last five mana points he had, many weapons from that metallic amount moved, but only one went to his hand.
With his eyes closed, Kaizen’s senses seemed heightened. The thundering footsteps of the giant monster running after him were even louder. The smell of dust from the scene was prominent. The heat of this battle was above any other exciting emotion Kaizen had felt in recent years. Just as the touch of what Kaizen felt in the palm of his hand was light and heavy at the same time.
When he felt he had picked something up, he instantly opened his eyes and smiled wryly as he saw that the weapon he had picked up was a spear.
This spear had a sturdy wooden handle and an ornate copper ring, at least ten centimeters long, that divided the wooden handle from the silver tip. Inside this hoop were two gold rings, which moved as Kaizen moved.
[Item: Spear of Theus (Attack Weapon).
This old spear was forged over a hundred years ago from the trunk of the youngest tree in a grove. Its tip is made of purified steel, so it has not oxidized over time.
Class: Primal.
Item Level: 2 of 3
Attack: 15
Defense: 5
Fitness level required: 5]
For the first time in the day, Kaizen felt lucky. After all, a large spear was the main weapon of Cassius, the Champion with whom Klaus Park had spent hundreds of hours training in Myth2.
Kaizen rotated his back while holding Theus’ Spear’s handle in his hands and sliding his feet across the metal floor of the Medullar Forge, turning 180 degrees to face the Scarlet Demon Spider.
He didn’t think he could beat this Boss, but he needed to win.
When the Scarlet Demon Spider approached, it raised its four front paws once more, preparing to attack the man.
Therkara Ironstone, watching from afar in a hidden place as Kaizen requested, could not watch the scene continue and covered her eyes with her hands.
Facing this huge standing creature, Kaizen turned the spear with skill, even after being someone who had never even seen or touched a spear in real life. In fact, he just imitated the maneuvers he used to do with his house brooms when he was smaller and attacked the creature.
Kaizen didn’t even notice, but his movements were incredibly fast for a novice, and the spinning of the spear toward the back of the Scarlet Demon Spider was like a whirlwind.
*Phowww*
The purified steel tip of the spear precisely hit the Boss, throwing it backward. Next, Kaizen took advantage that the monster was stunned by the first hit and struck again, hitting exactly the same spot as the first hit. These two attacks combined were able to pierce the creature’s tough skin.
[Critical hit!]
[Critical hit!]
Kaizen heard the system’s female voice warn him twice right away as he made the spear spin using the rotation of his fist.
‘Yes!’ He thought, hearing the warnings, and stepping backward with three jumps, moving out of the Boss’s close range. That way, if the Scarlet Demon Spider fell, it would not crush him.
However, when Kaizen checked how much of the Boss’s life was left, he widened his eyes. The explosion of half of the Scarlet Demon Spider’s head and a direct puncture to the chest only caused 202 damage, meaning that there was still 798 HP left.
‘If things continue like this, it will take me hours to kill this thing and probably a single hit from this Boss will kill me, I can’t be careless…’
The critical damage done by Kaizen, who was only a low-level player, did not seem as effective on a Boss as it was with the Black Vultures. Normally, ordinary hits from users with a level close to twenty would do more damage, and even then, they would also have a hard time taking on such a large creature.
‘Come on, Klaus, think! There must be a way to win against this thing! it’s impossible that this motherfucker doesn’t have a weak point.’
At that moment, Kaizen watched the huge spider pull itself together. He then realized that one of the spider’s outstretched legs was a direct route to this monster’s broad back, and this was also probably the only place where the eight legs couldn’t reach.
