Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player

Chapter 173 When Teamwork Needs To Work

When Kaizen saw that the sky was clear of Black Vultures, he sighed, because it was being very satisfying to shoot with the explosive arrows.

“Pheww!” he sighed and dried the sweat on his forehead with his forearm. “I managed to go up five levels with that alone, but I think I should join Jayaa and Ravastine as soon as possible.”

Sounds of battle were already echoing coming from the steepest part ahead of him, so Kaizen put away the Old Bow and went down the ravine as fast as he could.

Upon reaching the Boss area, Kaizen saw that Ravastine and Jayaa were being surrounded by the Shadow Gatuno. The gigantic feline was trying to attack them with his claws, but Jayaa was doing his best to contain these attacks, humming a melody that created a protective barrier around him.

The Shadowcat moved quickly from one place to another of the bluish shield, trying to find a way to break it, and when Ravastine tried to hit him, the Boss retreated while hitting him with his long tail, which was easily defended by the princess. The Boss himself felt that Ravastine was very strong, and so he would not allow himself to be hit by her.

‘The defensive abilities of both are not bad at all, especially Jayaa’s, which is fifty levels below Ravastine. However, this is not surprising. While Ravastine has a common swordsman class, Jayaa is a bard, a class with a focus on support. I guess already how these two can fight together efficiently.’ Kaizen thought as he watched.

The moment Kaizen entered the Boss’s area, the Shadow Gatun’s attention was taken by him, and this made his companions sigh with relief, as if they were thinking:

‘Finally…’

Kaizen did not despair at the sight of the Shadow Gatun running swiftly towards him. On the contrary, he put both hands inside his pants pocket, and when the Boss was less than a meter away, with his paw ready to attack him, Kaizen stared deep into the creature’s eyes.

The Shadow Gatun froze in the exact position of attack, without moving another muscle.

[Class Skill, <Telekinesis>, active].

Still unconcerned, Kaizen stared at the Boss for a few more seconds to make sure he could keep it static, and then moved past the big cat’s side.𝞸𝒱𝗅xt.𝗇𝓔t

Jayaa and Ravastine looked at the Psyker totally dumbfounded. After all, they were having enormous difficulty dealing with this creature, but to Kaizen this Boss was nothing.

Kaizen approached them and said:

“You guys are fighting the wrong way. He’s not afraid of you, so you don’t need to be afraid of him either. Use offensive skills to gain space, create pressure on your enemy’s flank, talk to each other, plan together, and only then you will really be able to work as a team. I know that these things can’t be learned from scratch, so I’m going to train you today and at the end of the day it won’t be me who will kill this Boss, it should be one of you doing it. Do you understand me?”

The princess and the bard nodded.

“For now, listen to my commands and do as I ask. That way, you will see the battlefield as if you had more than one pair of eyes.”

There was nothing the princess and the bard could refute in Kaizen’s words. He was right, and they knew they had much to learn. Jayaa was simply honored to be able to receive calls from a former world champion, and Ravastine delighted to have the honor of fighting side by side with a Psyker.

“Ravastine, the hoop is now with you. Use <Dark Cut> while backing up to get speed buff from Jayaa’s Class Skill again!” Kaizen shouted, after the Shadow Gatuno realized that trying to attack him was futile and was about to go on another offensive.

As Kaizen said, the Boss took advantage that he gave Psyker a parry and aimed an advance towards Ravastine, because Kaizen was protecting Jayaa and also because this was the first time she was not hiding behind a protective barrier.

Ravastine brandished her sword and then used <Dark Cut> to create a cut in reality. This cut in reality flew toward the giant cat and hit it squarely in the chest. The Boss growled in pain at being hit, but not enough to stop it.

Kaizen provided the cover the princess needed, pushing the Shadow Gatuno away with the oppressive force of <Telekinesis>. Obviously, holding and pushing a creature as strong as this requires a huge amount of MP from the Psyker, but he was still nowhere near his current limit.

“Jayaa, use that Plant Song like you did that time.”

“I don’t have a skill by that name…. Ah, did you mean <Territorial Domain>? But there is nothing here, no plants!” Jayaa tried to argue.

“Look around you!”

Kaizen’s words were more than enough to make Jayaa remember that the area, although morbid, was a woodland, so he used <Territorial Domain>.

“Trace the heads of your enemies with your blade to free our way~. The darkness that consumes you in my dreams, perhaps it is your destiny. Walking through the snow I find you with an empty heart. A hollow and lifeless shell~. Life goes on, like a note, always teaching me to callous myself~.” 🎵

Rotten roots started coming out of the ground all over the area around the bard. Each root was different thicknesses and sizes, but they still moved on their own as he continued to chant. Unconsciously, the roots targeted the Shadowcat’s feet.

When this cat began to be surrounded by the roots, he tried to hit them with his claws, but this proved ineffective. The more he cut, the more roots sprouted from the ground.

Soon, the Shadowcat had its front left paw grabbed by a root, which also began to wrap itself more and more around this creature’s entire limb. However, the Boss still had a card up his sleeve and it was time to use it. Suddenly, all the roots around him were cut, not by his claws, but by the Boss’s own shadow, a shadow that began to shred all the roots around its creator.
