Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player

Chapter 163 The Wild Vigor

Kaizen didn’t even have time to proficiently analyze the battlefield or the strength of his enemies, because the giant started walking towards him without even hesitating. So the Psyker just turned his face to the princess and said:

“Pay attention and don’t get hit by any blows, they can use poisons. Besides, they’re probably not very strong because they’re in a big group, but don’t underestimate them too much.”

“Right!” She nodded, removing her sword from its sheath.

At that moment, the giant started running towards Kaizen like a bull and was about to punch the Psyker in the face with a left jab. However, Kaizen had confidence in his own reflexes and deflected to the side easily, avoiding that big hand coming towards him. As soon as the giant passed him, Kaizen moved his right hand, which held the Dagger of Obsession.

The giant could see with the corner of his eyes Kaizen’s blow forming and he tried to raise his left arm to defend himself as fast as he could. However, this giant man just didn’t know yet that his enemy had anticipated such a reaction and that instead of striking with the dagger, Kaizen would attack with a left jab.

The Psyker used all the strength he had in that punch, even boosting the movement with a body twist. Still, when the punch hit the giant it wasn’t even able to drag him a little out of place.

‘Shit…’ Kaizen thought, raising his eyebrows.

‘What a disappointment! I thought you were stronger!” The giant servant exclaimed. His excited smile had vanished. “Let me show you what genuine strength is!”

Reviling the punch from earlier, the giant grabbed Kaizen’s left arm and then punched his face with his right fist.

*Pow*

The force of the blow was so absurd that it produced a loud bang when it hit Kaizen, also throwing the player against the entrance wall. The whole place shook.

Ravastine, who could majestically dodge several attacks from various directions, became worried when she saw Kaizen being thrown and turned her attention away from the battle.

“Watchful eyes on me if you don’t want to die, girl!” The woman with dark circles under her eyes and glasses said as she charged toward the princess with a pair of small scythes.

As Kaizen was catching her breath after the giant’s blow, another man with a large axe came close enough to deliver a blow. Kaizen was ready to try to block the axe’s blow with the Dagger of Obsession. However, the man with the axe suddenly was also thrown away by a punch from the giant.

“I told you he’s my enemy, you fucking idiot!!!”

Kaizen wiped the blood dripping from his nose and smiled affrontedly, even looking at the giant from so close. “You should have let that guy kill me, because that was your only chance to get out of here alive today.”

Using <Telekinesis>, Kaizen spent half of his MP to strike back at the giant’s blow and throw him away as well. The man didn’t even have time to reason and understand that he was being levitated off the ground. He was thrown to the other side of the chamber, where he collided with Skogsrå’s cage.

[You caused the enemy to stun].

Upon hearing this message, Kaizen invested without a second thought in the giant’s direction and used 1/3 of his remaining MP to try to keep him still. If he could do this, victory would be easier, because with the enemy paralyzed, Kaizen could aim at a vital point to cause supercritical damage with his dagger.

Although Kaizen did this, it was no use. The giant did have a little trouble getting up, but he resisted it.

Since Psyker was already running towards the giant before, there was no way to change this. So he continued and tried to strike the cult servant with the dagger.

‘A precise blow to the throat should do the trick…’ That’s what the player thought.

Still, the giant’s strength, his stamina and defense were proportional to his size.

Kaizen managed to hit the giant and took a little life, but that blow was to the giant’s left forearm, which blocked the attack aimed at its throat. Immediately, the giant struck Kaizen and sent him flying away once more.

The giant didn’t give Kaizen time to get up and ran towards him for a kick.

To react to this, Kaizen rolled to the side and, with a somersault, managed to stand upright. At that moment he looked down at his right hand and realized that he no longer had his dagger. His eyes didn’t even have to search the entire chamber for the dagger, as there was only one place where his weapon could be.

“Look, it looks like a toothpick got stuck in me.” The giant scoffed, looking at the dagger wedged into the skin of his forearm.

Kaizen tried to pull the weapon out with <Telekinesis>, but the giant held it back, using his enormous strength. “This gravitational pull ability of yours is annoying, but this dagger here isn’t bad at all… I think I can trade it for a night with some luxury harlot in another Human Kingdom.”

The smile on the giant’s face was unpleasant, to say the least.

On closer inspection now, Kaizen could see that the giant’s face was riddled with scars and that this man had virtually no hair, except for a thin gray layer on his skull.

Abilities:

– Enhanced Endurance.

– Giant’s Lungs.

– Blow of Fortune.

– Improved Dodging]

Indeed, The Wild Vigor was not an exaggerated title for the giant Tonwor, considering his attributes and skills geared towards it.

When Kaizen saw all these stats of his enemy, he understood why Tonwor didn’t even suffer from the pressure of <Telekinesis>. Besides being a half-giant, which probably gave him a huge natural attribute advantage in the physical aspect, he also had skills that enhanced his natural strength.

If this guy was a player who put together a build focusing on endurance and strength I would think it was normal, but he is an NPC and doesn’t even seem to be a standard enemy in the game, which means it wasn’t a random creation… Anyway, these skills… I wish I could copy all of them.’ Kaizen thought, starting to smile with animation as well.

Kaizen’s mind was bubbling with ideas of what he could do if he copied Tonwor’s skills, but he could only get one of them and it was a bit difficult to focus on which one he wanted to get, as was also the case when he copied a skill from Dathan and Lord Sigurd. However, if he didn’t use <Apograph of Abilities> now, while the giant was chattering, he might not get another chance, so he did.

[~Copy Condition~

Facing legitimate giants or heirs of giants is never an easy thing, not only because of their strength, but also because of their overbearingness. Make Tonwor apologize for the first time in his life and you will get the power of a giant].

Descriptions of copying conditions were never something easy either to understand or to fulfill. Although Kaizen had already understood this aspect of the <Apograph of Skills>, it didn’t stop him from getting stressed sometimes because not everything was so easy.

‘Make him apologize? That’s sure to be a bitch to pull off, but I think I have an idea.’

Looking into the Tonwor giant’s eyes, Kaizen sighed and then said:

“Hey, man. What do you think about us using only our fists in this fight? And in case one of us doesn’t comply with that condition, he’ll have to comply with whatever the other asks.”

Outwardly, Kaizen had an honest smile and cohesive looks with that. As he often had to deal with annoying bosses in his early jobs, so this taught him to smile even when he doesn’t feel like it.

‘If this guy agrees to this, he’s an idiot. That was just the first plan I thought of…’ Kaizen thought.𝗈𝗏𝑳xt.𝗇𝓔t

However, the result was not as he expected. Tonwor was not angry that he suggested it, nor did he refuse to do it, but in fact, the giant agreed.

“You seem to be a smarter guy than most, so just like me you should understand that fights are more than fights, they are also games and games are meant to be fun. All right, let’s play this game of yours. But I warn you, if you lose, I’ll make you kill that little girlfriend of yours. ‘ The cult servant said, smiling cheerfully and pointing at Ravastine.

‘He really is just a muscular idiot.’ Kaizen laughed wryly. “No objections.”
