Chapter 676: The Deadly Poison

Third Person’s POV

Yet despite the horror and confusion filling its mind, Trozon still felt a trace of relief, as it had managed to spray its life poison onto Ethan’s chest.

That poison was extremely potent.

Even if this human possessed an exceptionally powerful body, Trozon was certain that the poison would eventually claim his life.

There would be no exceptions.

At least... I won’t be the only one dying here.

That thought barely formed within the creature’s mind.

Before it could think any further, Ethan released one of his daggers and immediately pulled out his ice broadsword.

His crimson eyes were cold and devoid of hesitation.

The massive blade flashed.

SLASH!

Trozon’s deformed head was cleanly severed from its body.

But Ethan didn’t stop.

He knew better than to assume that an unknown creature like this would die simply because its head had been removed.

With the poison burning through his chest and corrosive blue blood melting his flesh, Ethan continued swinging his broadsword.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

He dismembered the deformed demon’s body into tens of pieces, ensuring that not a single part remained intact enough to pose another threat.

Only after he had dismembered the creature into hundreds of pieces did Ethan finally stop.

Ethan panted heavily from both pain and exhaustion as he knelt on the ground.

His eyes were wide open, yet his vision had already begun to blur, while a mixture of saliva and blood bubbled out from the corner of his mouth.

The adrenaline that had been keeping his body moving despite the tremendous injuries he had suffered was slowly fading.

And as it did, the poison from the blood that had entered his body through the needle wound and splashed across his chest during the deformed creature’s dying throes finally began showing its terrifying effects.

The injuries he had sustained during his battle against the sheep demon were also being aggravated by the poison, causing the pain coursing through his body to intensify with every passing moment.

Despite this, Ethan didn’t allow himself to lower his guard.

His eyes remained fixed on his surroundings as he quickly drank the healing potions he had on hand, followed by several poison antidote potions.

At the same time, he carefully examined his body with his soul sense, attempting to assess the extent of the damage caused by the poison.

What he discovered shocked him.

Although its corrosive properties were already causing severe damage to his muscles and internal organs, that wasn’t the most frightening aspect of the poison.

The truly terrifying property of the blue blood poison was that it seemed to be the bane of his mana.

As the poison continued spreading through his body, the mana it came into contact with seemed to be lulled into a dormant state.

No matter how much Ethan attempted to control his ice mana through his soul sense, it simply didn’t respond.

It was as though the mana itself had lost its connection with him.

Ethan’s expression became increasingly grim as he probed deeper into his body.

He soon discovered another disturbing change.

The poison was gradually coagulating within different parts of his body, forming strange, irregular blue spheres that remained embedded within his flesh.

And it wasn’t stopping there.

The strange poison had begun corroding his mana veins.

Wherever the blue poison passed through them, his mana veins gradually weakened and atrophied.

Ethan’s mind froze.

For the first time since the battle had begun, genuine shock and terror flashed through his eyes.

His soul sense continued examining the damage, but the more he observed, the colder his heart became.

His mana veins were not being temporarily suppressed but were being permanently damaged.

Slowly, a terrifying realization formed within Ethan’s mind.

He seemed to be standing on the very edge of becoming crippled.

If the poison continued spreading at this rate, the damage to his mana veins could become irreversible.

And if that happened, all the effort he had poured into walking the path of power throughout these years could be destroyed.

The thought caused his mind to reel.

Yet before he could dwell upon the terrifying consequences of the battle against the mysterious Trozon, the sheep demon he had kept an eye on finally managed to heal the enormous wound in its chest.

The flesh around the wound gradually closed, and the flow of blackish-red blood finally stopped.

The sheep demon slowly pushed itself upright.

Then, it began walking toward Ethan with slow but steady steps.

Each heavy footstep echoed through the ruined surroundings, and Ethan’s gaze immediately shifted toward it.

Their eyes met.

His body suddenly went cold when he saw the sneer hanging from the sheep demon’s mouth.

Unlike an ordinary sheep, its mouth was filled with rows of sharp teeth, making the expression look even more sinister.

"Hehe, who would have thought an inferior human would be able to kill that bastard Trozon?"

The sheep demon’s voice was filled with undisguised delight.

"Now, I don’t even have to do anything. My two enemies self destructed on their own."

Unable to stop itself, the demon began muttering to itself in glee as it continued approaching Ethan.

It had no idea that Ethan could understand every word it was saying.

The sheep demon continued walking toward him.

"Though I have to find an explanation for Trozon’s death to the prince.

I am sure he wouldn’t believe that Trozon could die in this barren realm."

Its grin widened.

"Now, I just have to kill this pesky, arrogant rat and take those girls."

A strange excitement appeared in its eyes.

"Today is my lucky day. Other than those two, many more girls arrived."

It licked its lips.

"Ahh, I can’t wait to taste them."

The sheep demon seemed to have completely lost itself in its own perverted fantasy.

Ethan listened silently, as he could understand exactly why the demon was behaving this way.

It had lost to him.

It had nearly died at his hands despite initially believing that humans who he considered to be inferior, were not even worthy of being considered a threat to its existence.
