185 Impossible Challenger
‘He’s strong… stronger than me by far!’
Ana’s head was pounding as all her instincts screamed at her to quickly run, but she wouldn’t listen. How could she be so unsightly as to flee in the face of a foe— even if it was nigh impossible to win!
“Ah, you’ve really done a great deal of thrashing to my men, uh?” The man’s husky voice picked up.
His head turned as he looked around and saw several of his subordinates rendered incapacitated… though still alive.
A bead of sweat dropped from Ana’s face. Charles watched from his spot above, feeling powerless to do anything despite being the leader. He knew he couldn’t win, even if the Sniper targeting him wasn’t present.
Ana and her team raised their guard as they glared at the man who approached them alone. Even though he wasn’t with them, Charles could feel the danger creeping upon his body.
‘N-no… don’t…’ His mind rang, looking at both his Camp members and the opposing side.
He had used his [Mind’s Eye] on the man they were about to face… he was a monster!
Ana shook off her hesitant feelings and decided to rush in. Though she realized that the enemy was tough, she couldn’t back down now..
‘If we all coordinate our attacks… we have a chance of victory!’ Using this rationale, Ana took the forefront.
The temptation to look at her opponent’s Status Information came, but she didn’t give in. There was no use in looking at the enemy’s Level when it would only strike fear into her heart.
As long as she was careful and played well with her allies, there was no human enemy they couldn’t beat— at least that was how she reasoned.
>FWOOOOOOSSHHHH!!!<
As she increased her pace and closed the distance between herself and the enemy, Ana felt the wind blow on her face and her body’s temperature rise to an unprecedented degree. Still, she had to endure.
‘I’m almost burned out!’ Her thoughts cried.
Ignoring the sizzling blood within her, Ana pushed herself past her limits and lunged at the opponent.
>FWOOOP<
Her attack didn’t land. No, Ana recognized this sensation… it was the same as the other guy she just faxed. Her body passed through her target’s body and went the opposite way.
‘Shit! No!’
Before she could complete her thoughts, the man vanished from where he stood— yes, even for someone as High-Leveled as Ana, she couldn’t see a fraction of his movements!
In a flash, he appeared beside Daniel and a crack sounded soon afterward.
A >Crack<, caused by the snapping of one’s neck… the neck of the person he appeared beside…
“Daniiieeeellll!” Ana yelled in shock and utter sorrow.
Her comrade, Daniel, fell flat on the ground with his lifeless body. His neck had taken a whole 180 degrees turn and twisted to the back. Falling on the hard ground, a heavy thud sounded and Daniel ceased to be alive— no, he was already dead even before that.
“His shrinking ability is quite troublesome. It’s best to get him out of the way.” The enemy said while donning a nonchalant smile.
Ana was furious. Ana was enraged. Ana was completely, utterly drowned in pure fury as she saw the death of her companion. The flames and hard crimson covering on her body intensified by an unimaginable margin as the pressure she generated caused everything around to tremble.
“You bastard!!!” Ana growled as she forgot anything about strategy and calm assessment and charged directly at her target.
As she neared the man, the man’s lips broke into a smile and he moved in such a quick and fluid way that Ana would have thought she was moving in slow motion.
As soon as he did this, the man’s body was already turned to the side, out of Ana’s trajectory. However, she wasn’t going to give up yet.
>FWOOOSH!<
Twisting her body in midair, she flailed and made for a kick that would cut through her opponent. The man was impressed by this as well, showing his emotions by flashing an ugly smile.
Ana pushed her body to generate more strength and plow through any form of defense the man might have.
“Rahhhhhh!!!” With her scream of pure rage, her legs descended.
However—
>KRRRIIIKAAANGGG<
Ana’s leg was repelled by something, causing her body to bounce backward. Her eyes widened in shock as she flipped and landed on the ground. A small distance had been made between both her and the enemy, but it wasn’t something she couldn’t transverse quickly.
‘What’s going on? I was sure I hit him! Was it a skill?’
Ana was conflicted about what the heck was going on. It appeared the man noticed this and decided to explain it to the ignorant young woman.
“That was no Skill… it’s not a Gift either… it’s just…” As the man spoke, a devilish grin appeared in his eyes.
“Your attacks are too weak to even penetrate my skin.”
The unbelievable statement made by their target caused all the members of Ana’s team, minus the dead Daniel to look at him in dismay. What the hell was he talking about?!
The man was able to tank Ana’s full-powered kick without taking any damage and he claimed it was as a result of his base Stats.
Not wanting to believe it, Ana finally decided to give in to the temptation that had been gnawing at her for so long. She checked his Status Introduction.
Nothing was displayed.
Ana was confused for a moment and tried again… nothing was displayed. She looked at her teammates and saw their respective Status Information— turning back to her target and doing the same, still… NOTHING WAS DISPLAYED!
“You can’t see anything, can you?” The man’s smile grew wider, shrugging slightly.
Ana remembered Jeremy had the same issue, but it was because of the masked man’s help… the aid of unknown power. Was this man operating under the same power?
“The fact that you can’t simply means you stand no chance against me. I’m over 50 Levels higher than you!”
