112 Battle In The Dead Of Night (Pt 1)
>FWOOOOSHHH!!!<
My body fluidly moved with the wind, charging at the fast-approaching Demons.
In a flash, they all lunged at me, but I was faster than them.
Jumping, while twisting my body in mid-air, I sent spikes flying at them, coordinating my projectiles to hit them at fatal spots.
“Guraaaaaakk!!!” They made painful screeching sounds as they fell.
Those who managed to avoid fatal hits, but were grazed soon began experiencing the venomous effects of my Skill. They became sluggish as purple veins began growing on them and their green skin became paler than usual.
Taking this as a hint, I dashed at them, still covered in my red aura, and elongated my nails to make claw attacks.
Lunging the sharp claws at the poisoned targets, it was easier for me to rip them to shreds, tearing them apart in mere moments..
They screeched, trying to get closer to me to deal damage, but I ensured I faced them from a far distance, balancing my fights out.
‘Hobgoblins are melee fighters! If they can’t get close, they’re not dealing any damage!’ I thought happily, enjoying the slaughter that occurred.
My claws poked through their skulls, ripped through their flesh, causing their blood and internal organs to splurge out, staining my outfits and skin with their grimy liquid.
I didn’t mind though. The blood would evaporate, and their flesh would turn ashen, leaving no evidence of the fight.
“Die! Die! Die!” I screamed excitedly, feeling my blood boil as I launched my claws, poking their eyeballs and mutilating the disgusting skin of my foes.
It was so one-sided that none of them could land a hit on me. Using Aura, my entire stats were boosted, making me no match for their futile attempts to near me. Using my <Spike Attack> Skill, coupled with <Venomous Spikes>, I made sure to injure and slow down those that surrounded me, while using <Claw Attack> to finish them off!
Just as I was still enjoying the slaughter, I heard a ping, something that brought me joy in the past that I hadn’t seen in quite a while. Yes, after all this time. Finally…
[You Have Leveled Up]
My grin became wider and I became more motivated to kill the targets. Spreading my senses, I noticed that some of the Hobgoblins had climbed the trees around in order to gain higher ground and ensure my attacks didn’t reach them.
>WHOOOOSHH<
I dashed, running atop the large stem of one of the dried trees around, using my long and sharp claws to keep a good foothold, I hurriedly reached a high summit, looking at the several Hobs who were already staying stop the branches to ambush me.
They were with peculiar weapons, making my eyes bulge more in excitement. I recognized their arsenal well.
“Bows and arrows! Excellent! It would be too boring if you guys couldn’t attack from a distance!”
Goblins have always been portrayed to have higher intelligence than regular beasts, and Hobs were a more advanced variant.
Looking at the Status Windows of these Archers, they had higher intelligence stats compared to the brawlers below.
Still, it didn’t matter. I was going to kill them all anyway.
“Guurrrrukkk!!!” They shouted, as though giving the signal to fire.
>FWOOOSH<
Their projectiles were launched at me. I saw dozens of flying arrows making their way to my location. Even though I had Aura, I was smart enough not to underestimate their attacks. It would be better to avoid any direct hits.
Using <Claw Attack> I cut through the approaching arrows, jumping from the tree where I stayed and rushed at the enemies. Spinning midair with my claws stretched out, I resembled a rotating blade, slicing through the branch of the trees around me, as well as the bodies of the Archers.
More arrows were fired, but by keeping up my spinning state, I cut through their arrows, ensuring none of them could land a solid hit. So, using my frenzied dance, I jumped atop trees and lay waste to the Demons.
>SPLURGE!!!<
Their blood poured down, falling like rain to the warriors who helplessly growled and watched as their kin were mercilessly slaughtered by their supposed prey.
Realizing that they were outmatched, the ground Hobs decided to make a run for it, fleeing in their remaining number. Upon noticing their attempt to escape, a wide grin formed on my face.
‘Hehe, as expected of filthy goblins!’
There was no way I would let free EXP run away though.
Even if they were too low-leveled to provide me with huge chunks of them, their EXP was still useful. Plus, they made for good target practice and ways to blow off steam.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” I asked, a wide grin forming on my face.
Almost turning into a blur, I raced ahead of them, using the trees above them as footholds while they tried running from beneath me. The red energy surrounding my body flickered, showing that time had nearly run out for its use, which meant I needed to end things quickly.
Adding more strength to my legs, I lunged further, aiming for the ground to make a perfect landing.
>BOOOMMM!<
I landed right in front of the frightened Demons, now blocking off their escape route.
“You should all fight and die like Demons. There’s no escape for you. Now… Come!!!” I declared, welcoming any pointless assault they wanted to make. The Hobs looked at one another, as though deciding the next course of action they would take. After nodding at each other, they all glared at me, opening their mouths in rage, and cried.
“Guraaaaakkkk!!!”
Their joint screams reverberated through the air, causing my skin to tingle a little. Was it a final desperate cry that they decided to undertake? No!
“You called your allies, right? So they would gang up on me and kill me…” I said to the small group of survivors.
The Hobgoblins looked at me smugly, happy that I would sook encounter death. The stupid Demons were wrong about one thing though. I didn’t dread the appearance of more of their kind.
In fact, I looked forward to it.
“There’s more of you coming? That’s perfect! That means I can kill you off now!”
