Chapter 481 - Lie Or Truth?
Damien became silent, realizing that, as expected, Reva did figure it out. He didn't even have to ask why.
"Why...Why are you so silent now? You have nothing to say?" Reva asked with a piercing cold gaze.
Damien took a deep breath as he stepped forward and asked, "Then what about you? Don't you have something to say as well? Something you were hiding from me?"
Reva's expression flickered for a moment before returning to an impassive one, "What are you talking about?"
Her tone seemed indifferent, yet a tinge of nervousness could be noticed.
"You are Triton, the chosen one of the Forsaken and the brightest star among the Zirians...am I wrong?" Damien said as he maintained his gaze while making sure to put up an ethereal barrier around him which not even Profound Ethereal Realm cultivators can break in without letting Damien know thanks to the Rong Ancestor's gift.
Reva's expression shook as if she heard the most shocking thing of her life and was strangely silent as she continued to give Damien an incredulous stare.
Damien had already felt a certain vibe from Triton the first time he met 'him', though he just couldn't put his finger on it.
Only over time, as he spent more time with him, especially in the Gale Empire, he felt that Triton seemed quite similar to a certain someone.
The subtle habits Triton showed, 'his' gestures and even 'his' expressions...all of them hinted towards a certain someone, though Damien had to admit the disguise would have been perfect if Triton wasn't looking as pretty as a flower.
But this only made Damien unearth a huge conspiracy that involved one of the most important members of the imperial family!
How would the Xeton Emperor react if he knew about this? His daughter working for his biggest enemy and also having a special status in the same group? Wouldn't all hell break loose?
However, Damien also knew his identity was exposed as well. He knew that since Triton was Reva, it was easy for her to come to the conclusion that Alchemist Azrael was none other than himself. Otherwise, why would he ask her about the Pandemonium Needles?
Since Azrael was supposed to never be a part of the Forsaken group, how could he suddenly ask around for these needles? It just seemed too coincidental.
Damien knew that the Forsaken places a seal on everyone to prevent information leaks, and so it was normal for Reva to think that it was impossible for him to reveal anything about the Forsaken to anybody else, though in reality, Damien had no such seal on him, thanks to Luna.
Still, it didn't matter since Reva came to the right conclusion. And he only realized too late that Reva and Triton were the same people, especially since the idea seemed too outrageous.
No one would ever guess that the famous Ethereal Fairy, the only imperial princess, was working for a terrorist organization.
He didn't know how long Reva had been silent about this since she already knew he was working for the Forsaken from the beginning but never said anything about it.
He wondered if she was staying silent all this time to test him or something.
"How…How did you know?" Reva could see that Damien was not simply bluffing but was confident about what he said. She couldn't understand how he was able to come to such a conclusion.
Damien circled around her as he said, "Was it really hard? Whenever I spent time with you as Triton, the feeling I got from Triton was the same feeling I got from you. At first, I thought something was strange or that maybe my mind was going crazy...but only later whenever you showed concern for me...the look in your eyes betrayed your disguise. As I said...your eyes are the windows to your soul. It is not something you can disguise no matter what."
Of course, Damien became 100% sure only because of Luna, but still, he was already pretty sure of it but couldn't confront Reva about it without exposing himself.
But now that everything was revealed, especially by her, he also didn't have to hide anything anymore.
Reva's expression became complicated, and she said in a taut tone, "But I never approached you on purpose to cheat you or anything. I only wanted to keep an eye on you, to know whether you were a friend or foe. You just suddenly popped out of nowhere while offending important figures of this empire without any fear. And with the Supreme Tier pills, you concocted under the identity of Alchemist Azrael, you just became too much of an unknown variable that could become dangerous any time. We had to make sure you weren't working for the wrong side."
"Then why didn't you say anything about this whenever I spent time with you?" Damien asked with a shake of his head.
Reva lowered her eyes as her lips parted and closed a few times as if she was hesitating to say something before she finally said, "Because...Because I wanted to know if you genuinely wanted to be my friend or if you were using me to get to my father. And I wanted to become your friend not because I wanted to keep an eye on you but because I wanted to. There was no need for me to personally get close to you since I am already your teacher here."
She continued as she looked at Damien with watery eyes, "But you...for what reason did you approach me? Did you mean everything you said to me whenever we met here?"
Damien looked at her as he slowly stepped towards her, making her unconsciously take a step back. His head was just a few centimeters taller than hers, their eyes searching each other for answers they sought.
He finally opened his mouth and asked, "Do you really think whatever we shared was a lie?"
