Chapter 471 - Kalypso
"My name?" The crimson dagger was quiet for a while before saying," I can't remember the last time someone asked my name or the last time I even uttered it. You can call me...Kalypso. No need for any honorifics for a dying soul like me. I can't even remember my own past but only remember the feeling of regret and pain I suffered," Kalypso said in a pained tone.
Damien had no idea why but he felt sad for her as he asked, "Is it because your soul is in a damaged state? Would you have recovered your memories if your soul healed? Can I help in any way?" Damien could see that Kalypso was suffering from something similar to Luna and decided to offer his help since he felt that she was not someone with evil intentions, and gaining her favor could come in handy for him.
"Yes...but I know one thing...the moment I saw you, I understood why my fate took me here. Your aura and the nethereal energy that flows through your body...I have never seen something so pure and beautiful like it. If I didn't sense the ethereal energy that flowed through your body before, I would have thought that you were a pure-born denizen of the Nether dimension. But your ethereal energy seems oddly familiar to me as if I have known it for a while. This odd sense of having to protect you is not disappearing from my soul...I wonder why...That's why I wanted to talk to you and know who you really are…" Kalypso said with confusion mixed in her voice.
Damien inwardly scratched his head, not expecting a Spirit Weapon from another dimension which he had never met or seen before to be familiar with him. He could see that she was genuinely confused, and the only thing he could speculate was that it was because of Anti-God's Origin Seed inside him which seemed familiar to Kalypso since both were from the same dimension.
So he said, "To be honest, I don't really know about my past. All I remember is that I grew up with my adoptive father in this world."
"That doesn't explain the nethereal energy flowing through your body. You...You have something inside your ethereal core that originates from the Nether dimension? Isn't it so? I can understand why you seem to want to hide certain things from me, but your secrets are of no use to me since I am a dying Spirit Weapon. Even if I absorbed your ethereal core, I would barely last for a few more years. But as I said, I don't have the slightest intention to hurt you...I only want to find out why I have this urge to safeguard your life. I am sure you want to know as well…"
Damien inwardly let out a sweat, not expecting that a Spirit Weapon like her could even absorb his ethereal core just like that.
"Hey Luna, if she really tried to absorb my ethereal core, you would be able to stop her, right?"
"Hmph, why would I waste my precious energy stopping her. I will just leave this flimsy mortal shell of yours and find some other comfy soul," Luna said with a snort but then added, "But no need to worry your little brain with these things. She's telling the truth. You can tell her whatever you want to. Getting additional help is always favorable for both of us," Luna said in a tone of certainty.
Damien didn't seem surprised since he also felt that Kalypso was telling the truth. But since she was an ancient entity, he had no idea if they had ways to make themselves look genuine and sincere. After all, he was nothing but a baby before these terrifying entities.
However, since Luna, who was literally a goddess herself, approved of it, he felt safer.
Since Kalypso had asked him to call her by her name, which was strange since someone as ancient and powerful as her wouldn't usually want a junior, especially someone so young like him, to call her by their name. In fact, it would be seen as pure disrespect, and if the other person had a bit of a temper, then losing one's life would be probable as well.
However, Damien then smiled to himself inwardly, thinking that he was calling Luna by her name, who was once the most powerful goddess in the universe and strangely enough didn't feel strange to call Kalypso by her name as he said, "Kalypso, do you know a god named Anti-God?"
"What did you just say??" Kalypso's tone suddenly became erratic and unsettled, making Damien get startled for a moment.
"I..I am sorry, did I say something wrong?" Damien cautiously asked, wondering if he angered her in some way though he was curious why she reacted like that.
"No...that sacred name...that's one of the things I still remember...how could I ever forget his divine presence. After all, he was a being whose sole existence was a bane for any gods. No one would dare to go against him," Kalypso said in a fervent tone as if she was trying her best to remember more about the Anti-God.
"Hmph, seems like we came upon a fan of that so-called Anti-God. You are truly lucky," Luna scoffed, making Damien wonder why Luna didn't like Anti-God, especially when he was no longer alive. He then thought that it was because Luna blamed Anti-God for her current precarious state, though she was still alive while he was not.
Kalypso continued, "I was honored to be in his presence even if I was just a mere servant but...something happened, and I ended up losing everything. I just can't remember what really happened that caused me to be like this. I must have definitely fought someone powerful enough to injure me like this. I can also no longer feel his divine presence which could only mean he is no more…" Kalypso's voice became brittle as if she was trying her best to control her overwhelming emotions and wondered why she was being like this every time she reminded herself of this fact.
Damien knew what really happened to Anti-God and how he died. He could also guess that Kalypso got caught in the war that took place and she might have become like this while fighting for her Master. In fact, it was impressive that she managed to come out of it alive.
He was also surprised to see that someone so ancient and powerful like her still had human-like feelings, making him think that despite no matter how old or powerful one was, they still had feelings in the end, and he felt that Luna should be the same as well.
Since he had experienced her bone-chilling aura before, he never expected that she would be capable of feelings like this.
"Somebody here really liked him. Sigh, I am going to let her sense your Origin Seed. You can go ahead and tell her," Luna, for some reason, didn't feel like ridiculing Kalypso any longer.
Damien looked at Kalypso and asked, "What if I told you he was living on but in a different way?"
