Rise of Humanity

Chapter 593 - Death By One Strike

The Pure Yang Qi was left in Bai Canghai’s body to counter the Yin God Meridian, in addition to the【Sun Moon Prodigious Emanation Art】imparted to him, Bai Canghai would be able to balance the Yin and Yang Qi in his body while at the same time slowly refine the Yin God into his own Pure Yin Qi and also growing the Pure Yang Qi.

Before that, Bai Canghai was tortured day and night by the Yin Meridian and Yin God in his body, he was weak and fragile like a piece of glass, even the Bai Zhe god couldn’t help him in this. Bit Zhong Yue was the only one that had the only thing that could save him—the Pure Yang Qi.

After Zhong Yue lent him a surge of the Pure Yang Qi, his Yin Meridian Yin God was slowly refined, and balanced out by the Pure Yang Qi. The Yin and Yang in his body grew stronger together, and his cultivation base started skyrocketing, making him the only young cultivator that was on par with Bai Shuyue.

Especially in recent years, he had supplanted Bai Shuyue as the strongest young cultivator in the Bai Zhe Clan, and was now already a True Spirit magnate.

However, the Pure Yang Qi in his body didn’t belong to him, it was borrowed from Zhong Yue, and it would be returned after he had completely refined the Yin Meridian Yin God. Zhong Yue didn’t only lend him the Pure Yang Qi to cure his mortal body, but he also wanted to strengthen the Pure Yang Qi along with him.

As Bai Canghai has now fully refined the Yin God in his body into his Yin God True Spirit which took the form of a Pure Yin snake god, the Pure Yang Qi in his body was also balanced and brought along into the Pure Yang True Spirit.

The Pure Yang fire dragon formed by the Pure Yang Qi was exactly the True Spirit form of the Pure Yang Qi!

Yin and Yang, snake and dragon, they were exactly the opposite of one another.

The sudden appearance of the Pure Yang True Spirit caught everyone’s attention, but before anyone could react quickly enough, it had already diffused into Zhong Yue’s mortal body.

Like a drought met with a rainstorm, Zhong Yue’s mortal body was filled with arcane energy once more. His mangled Immortal Body recovered, his cultivation base was boosted, and his blood essence burst out again!

However, this Pure Yang Qi could only grant him a temporary boost in strength, it wasn’t strong enough to help him in resolving imminent death. When the arcane energy from the Pure Yang Qi was depleted, the situation would still revert to the same as before.

Right when the Pure Yang Qi entered his body, Zhong Yue suddenly roared and surged out his arcane energy. Lord Kun, who was battling with Lord Dragon, staggered for a split second as he felt a strong arcane energy emerging within the Divine Wing Saber. The arcane energy was wrest away control of the saint saber from him!

And the source of the arcane energy was from a feather in the Divine Wing Saber one of the many Golden Feathery Peng Swords!

Not only that, but the arcane energy that came within that specific feather was casting in the ways of the【Kun Peng Heaven and Earth Art】, an art created by Lord Kun himself, something only a handful of experts within the Kun Peng Celestial Race was imparted with!

Zhong Yue! But how did he…? Lord Kun was shocked.

The arcane energy was cast using the same art while it fought for control over the Divine Wing Saber. If the Kun Peng Celestial Race had worshipped him and the saber in full force, Zhong Yue’s arcane energy wouldn’t even be significant enough to cause any troubles to Lord Kun.

But both the Imminent Deity peak experts, Mister Kun Da and Peng Da were stalling the humans, the power of worship was a level weaker than before.

Lord Kun was weaker than Lord Dragon and was already suppressed in the battle; while in addition to the disturbances from Zhong Yue’s arcane energy, the battle situation took a sharp dive for the worst!

It was just a split of a second he was interrupted by Zhong Yue’s arcane energy, but that was a window long enough for Lord Dragon to launch the killing blow.

In that split a second, Lord Dragon had dashed over and the Coiling Dragon Divine Sword coiled on his body like a dragon.

Lord Kun’s heart was swallowed by fear, he quickly regained control over the Divine Wing Saber but it was already too late—the Coiling Dragon Divine Sword had garrotted him into pieces!

In the next moment, the chants of worship revived him on the Kun Peng altar, but the Coiling Dragon Divine Sword garrotted the Kun Peng godly spirit another time.

At the same moment he was asundered into pieces the first time, the Divine Wing Saber bolted toward the Sui Tree and was now in Zhong Yue’s control!

The towering tree disappeared, and he stood in mid-air with the saint saber.

He was exposed right before the sky-filled godly spirits.

Meanwhile, on the altar, Lord Kun was killed again as soon as he was revived. He muffled a deep groan before shattering away, but this time, the shattered parts flashed away and disappeared in the horizon.

At this moment, Lord Kun knew he was defeated, and he would die if he kept on reviving on the altar. Lord Dragon had already killed him three times in a row, his soul and spirit were gravely wounded, and he couldn’t afford to be injured anymore.

And it was right at this moment that Zhong Yue had cast the saber up!

He surged his arcane energy into the Divine Wing Saber, and it shone brightly in a blinding light as he slashed it in a wide arc. He had done this many times, except that this time, the Divine Wing Saber was a complete saint weapon!

Ching—

Then, the next thing they saw was the Divine Wing Saber growing larger in their eyes with the sound of a saber slashing through the air echoed in their ears!

Meanwhile, inside of his Yuan Shen secret realms, Shi Buyi was also surging all of his arcane energy over to aid him in casting the saint weapon!

Lord Dragon alighted on the center of the Kun Peng altar, he waited patiently but his old rival never did appear anymore. Around him, the Kun Peng experts were shivering in fear, they didn’t even dare to breath heavily as they furtively look at the Deity Overlord godly spirit while still continuing their worship.

Lord Dragon didn’t even look at them nor did he plan to kill them. He could have butchered them in just an eye, but they were too puny for him to be even worth killing.

He raised his head and gazed into the sky, staring at the saber that slashed on the West Barren godly spirits.

The saber ray robbed the world of color, and gathered all the attention. However, as grand as the Divine Wing Saber appeared to be, it wasn’t as strong as when Lord Kun was wielding it; nevertheless, it did surpass the level of a god-wielded divine weapon.

But this was beyond the reach of any Qi Practitioners. Even if an exceptional cultivator like Zhong Yue and the demigod Shi Buyi in their peak state couldn’t unleash such power!

“West Barren godly spirits, you’ve lost.” Lord Dragon mumbled softly.

As an experienced fighter and a Deity Overlord, Lord Dragon could tell with just one look that Zhong Yue and Shi Buyi were both on the brink of death; the true energy that powered the Divine Wing Saber was actually the power of worship from the Kun Peng experts.

The Kun Peng Celestial Race experts didn’t dare to stop the worship as Lord Kun was still escaping, he needed their worship or otherwise, he would have dispersed and died eternally.

However at the same time worshipping Lord Kun, the Divine Wing Saber forged from Lord Kun’s wings was also worshipped as well.

And it was exactly the worship from the Kun Peng experts that boosted the Divine Wing Saber to its current power which Zhong Yue had mercilessly wielded against the West Barren godly spirits!

The saber ray slashed a one eighty arc around Zhong Yue, cleaving some of the godly spirits from the waist, while the others quickly scattered away to evade the Divine Wing Saber.

Right at that moment, an appalling aura stagnated the air around as the Golden Peng Swords were spewed out of the Divine Wing Saber, a golden sphere of a hundred miles wide was formed around Zhong Yue!

The godly spirits were swallowed by the swarming golden swords; hollers of anger, cries of fear, and groans of pain. All kinds of noises resounded from the golden sphere while the godly spirits were dismembered within it.

Faraway from the battlefield, Feng Wuji rushed to the Kun Peng altar and shouted at the Kun Peng Celestial Race experts, “Quick, stop the worship!”

Cold sweat rolled down the experts’ head, but no one listened to him. If they stopped the worship now, their grand ancestor Lord Kun would be reduced into nothingness and cease to exist anymore, just how could they possibly stop?

Krong—

In just the blink of an eye, the golden swords bolted back into the Divine Wing Saber, leaving a floor of shattered godly spirits laying powerlessly in the sky.

As soon as the golden swords were kept away, the godly spirits flashed out in all domains.

Zhong Yue quickly let go of the saber and cast out the copper lamp, surging all of his arcane energy into it as he captured the shattered godly spirits in the space inside the copper lamp.

“Young child of the Zhong Shan Clan, know your limits. There are things you can do at will, and things that can’t be overdone.” Lord Dragon suddenly said, his voice was clear and placid, “If you have captured every godly spirit in the West Barren, then there will be no place in this world that can contain you anymore, even the two gods of West Barren will start hunting you down.”

Zhong Yue’s heart sterned, he opened a small gap on the copper lamp lid and released some of the godly spirits. These godly spirits returned to their respective altars and left with their clansmen.

“Zhong Yue, you have my respect, and you have passed the test!” One of the surviving godly spirits said.

Feng Wuji’s faces changed drastically, he stamped his feet and also left.

Clan Master Xia, Zhurong Yanqin and the others fighting with the human experts quickly receded back and left as well.

The development of the battle situation was too sudden, from Bai Canghai returning the Pure Yang Qi to Zhong Yue to the surviving godly spirits conceding defeat and leaving the Divine Battlefield, it only took just a few moments’ time!

Meanwhile, Bai Canghai and Bai Zhenbei still hadn’t travel far from the mountains, they were dazed by the end of the battle, and bolted away with all their strength, “Run! Run! Run!”

In just seconds, the two of them disappeared into the horizon with their hearts still palpitating in fear.

Bai Canghai initially just wanted to help out Zhong Yue in holding some time longer with returning him the Pure Yang Qi, but he never foresaw all of the sudden changes in the battle situation that was caused by that one surge of Pure Yang Qi!

“If the West Barren finds out I am the one that gave Senior Martial Brother Zhong that Pure Yang Qi, they’d hunt me down for sure…” Bai Canghai’s face was pallid like snow as he lamented in his heart.

Once again, the Divine Battlefield was peaceful. Zhong Yue’s aura plummeted like a cascading waterfall, and he mumbled, “Now, I guess the West Barren gods won’t be coming for me…”

Lord Dragon answered placidly, “With me here, they won’t dare to.”

Zhong Yue mustered his last strength and straightened his body, he bowed solemnly and thanked, “Thank you for helping me, Lord Dragon.”

Lord Dragon shook and said, “No, I’m not here to help. In fact, you are the one that helped me in defeating Lord Kun. I am just repaying you for that.”

Zhong Yue nodded softly, he closed the lamp lid tight. Lord Dragon looked at the copper lamp, his eyes were filled with puzzlement, but he left without any asking of its origin.

Finally, Zhong Yue couldn’t hold any longer, his vision turned pitch black and he collapsed toward the ground.

Jun Sixie, Fang Jiange, Shui Zian, and everyone else rushed over, they lifted him up with their arcane energy and found Zhong Yue still opening his eyes wide while gritting his teeth to prevent himself from falling into the deep abyss of no return.

His eyes were already blinded. He was just forcing them open with his willpower to keep himself awake.

Jun Sixie and the others quickly inspected his injuries, and they all turned silent in seriousness.

This was it, all it would take was a single breath for him to die.

Unlike before, this time, his injuries were beyond recovery. The battle took every last ounce of energy in him, his life force, his blood essence, his arcane energy, his psyche, everything. Now, he was devoid of life force, his mortal body was barely holding, and his Yuan Shen was on the verge of shattering; even divine herbs couldn’t salvage him from death.

Worse, their arcane energy couldn’t even enter his body and help him in suppressing the wounds. This was because of the incompatibility of their arcane energy, Zhong Yue had been walking on a unique cultivation path of his own, his arcane energy was unlike any other and would repel any other arcane energies.

Furthermore, his mortal body was far too weak to even bear violent movements anymore, even the medicinal efficacies of the divine herb would wreak havoc within his body!

“His injuries…” Shui Zian’s face was white like snow as if he has grown a few years older in an instant as he said sorrowfully, “He is… beyond saving…”

“Why didn’t he faint still?” it was rare to hear Fang Jiange asking a question, “Why is he trying to stay awake, even at the last few moments of his life?”

Just as he asked, Long Yue and Mister Bo Xun could be seen bolting over like an arrow, morphing into the Great Sun Demon Crow and Star Toad True Spirit seconds before gushing into Zhong Yue’s body.

Right as they diffused away into his body, Zhong Yue finally closed his eyes and fell unconscious.

“Junior Martial Brother Zhong, how stunning!” Fang Jiange was dawned, and praised sincerely.

Zhong Yue was keeping himself awake was so that he could salvage himself from death’s fingers. At this state he was in, no one else could have saved him other than himself; his arcane energy repelled all the other arcane energies, and his Yuan Shen and mortal body couldn’t withstand medicinal pellets either. Only his incarnations, who were from the same origin and essentially parts of himself, could pull from the claws of death!

The crowd waited for a few days until his condition was stabilized a little more before they carefully transported him back to the Great Wilderness.

One day, Zhong Yue tardily opened his eyes and regained conscious, he glanced around and found himself surrounded by strange looking plantations. These plants were brownish yellow and bore tiny, plump seeds.

“What… are these?” he asked puzzlingly.

Jun Sixie who was walking in front heard him asking, she turned her head and a bright smile bloomed on her face as she answered, “Millet, one of the five grains.”

Zhong Yue raised his head up and saw an endless field planted with various grain crops with many commoners reaping the crops. This time, he laid back down and slept with a smile on his face.
