Rise from a Low-class Family to Martial Artist
Chapter 958: Feng Haoyu: Still a Considerate Guy
Fifth layer.
Lin Chen hurried towards the entrance of the sixth layer, seeing several figures along the way rushing towards the entrance of the fourth layer. These people all looked at the counter-moving Lin Chen with surprise.
This time, Lin Chen didn’t continue walking purely with physical strength; instead, he activated the Immortal Technique to resist the pressure, fearing that the time storm would spread before reaching the entrance.
A two-hour period later.
At the entrance of the sixth layer, Lin Chen was surprised to see a figure still there—the Innate Fourth Realm male of the Wind Breath Race.
Seeing him, Lin Chen nodded in greeting, and Feng Haoyu also nodded back, although his gaze towards Lin Chen was somewhat strange.
During this time, he had been staying in the fifth layer, but deep inside, he wasn’t aware of Lin Chen’s feat of resisting pressure purely with physical strength.
“The time storm is about to arrive.”
Feng Haoyu reminded gently, planning to enter the sixth layer himself. Did Lin Chen not know about the time storm and thus came here?
“Thank you for the reminder.”
Lin Chen expressed gratitude, then said nothing more.
He didn’t plan to enter the sixth layer so quickly. Instead, he wanted to see what the time storm looked like. After all, he was now at the entrance of the sixth layer and could enter at any time.
Feng Haoyu didn’t expect just a “thank you for the reminder” and then nothing. He had already told Lin Chen that the time storm was imminent; if he didn’t leave now, he would have no choice but to hide in the sixth layer, where he could only stay for a quarter of an hour before having to leave.
Now retreating back, he could still stay in the fourth layer for about a month.
However, he and Lin Chen weren’t close, so he didn’t feel the need to explain further. A reminder was enough; if Lin Chen chose not to go, so be it.
After a tea time passed, Lin Chen finally saw the time storm. At the sight of the storm, his pupils contracted sharply, and beside him, Feng Haoyu’s expression was no better, constantly inhaling sharply.
In front of them, the sky was a vast gray expanse, everything was swept by an invisible presence, but it was soon obliterated and disappeared, as if an invisible beast was devouring everything.
The time storm, not to be viewed directly.
It’s not just the things ahead that are being destroyed. Lin Chen and Feng Haoyu both felt spatial fluctuations around them, becoming unstable.
Three breaths later, Feng Haoyu reacted, and without any hesitation, his figure flashed into the sixth layer.
Lin Chen also deeply gazed at the time storm before following Feng Haoyu into the sixth layer.
…
…
At the moment Lin Chen’s body pierced through the entrance of the Thousandfold Secret Realm’s sixth layer…
Boom!
A pressure far more terrifying than the fifth layer, akin to destruction of heaven and earth, suddenly arrived!
This pressure was no longer just a heavy burden; it was more like millions of invisible iron chains instantly tightening around each inch of his skin, marrow, tendons, and even deep within his Divine Soul. The thin glaze on his body, tempered in the fifth layer, was instantly dimmed and cracked.
“Ah!”
Lin Chen couldn’t suppress a low growl of extreme pain from his throat, his whole body feeling like a massive invisible mountain had slammed into his spine, his blood seemed to stop flowing under the high pressure, his organs twisted and compressed, his eyeballs painfully swollen almost to bursting; this was no longer merely difficult walking, but even maintaining “existence” became a form of torture.
Feng Haoyu, who had entered first and had just stabilized his figure near the entrance, also had a heavy expression, veins bulging on his forehead. When seeing Lin Chen enter the sixth layer in a posture of unbearable burden, initially a sense of inevitability crossed his eyes, but upon closer inspection of Lin Chen’s situation, he was perplexed.
Lin Chen didn’t actually activate any Cultivation Techniques nor use his Innate Power to resist the pressure; he was simply using his body.
Where did this madman come from?
Where did this courage come from?
Lin Chen was certainly no madman. Upon realizing his body difficultly resisting the pressure, he began to circulate the Immortal Technique within him. After the Innate Power flowed throughout his body, he felt slightly better and started gasping heavily.
He initially thought his body could adapt to the sixth layer after the fifth layer’s tempering, but it now seemed he was too naive. He had to adapt step by step.
Lin Chen stood in place, using the Immortal Technique to heal the damages on his body, while Feng Haoyu no longer stared at Lin Chen. Even with his strength, he couldn’t hold on much longer here. He had to seize every minute and second, striving to break through to the Innate Fourth Realm Middle Period in this Secret Realm.
Feng Haoyu sat cross-legged ten feet away, closed his eyes, and began cultivating.
A two-hour period later, with the help of the Immortal Technique, Lin Chen’s injuries healed, and he once again stopped circulating the Immortal Technique, allowing his body to directly face the pressure.
Crack!
A faint cracking sound echoed in his body—a protest of his strained muscles, his skin began tearing again, his surface quickly covered with leaking golden-red blood beads. Within just one breath, he looked like a glass statue about to shatter, extremely miserable.
The painful moans caused Feng Haoyu, ten feet away, to open his eyes, and upon seeing Lin Chen’s plight, there was a puzzling look in his eyes.
Was Lin Chen suffering from masochism?
He knew he couldn’t withstand the sixth layer’s pressure, yet he tried again.
Of course, Lin Chen wasn’t masochistic; it was because after entering the sixth layer, [Racing Against Time] prompted again [Use time pressure to refine oneself into Immortal Body Fourth Layer]
Immortal Body Fourth Layer!
Seeing the [Racing Against Time] prompt, Lin Chen understood that even if he made no progress in cultivation here, merely advancing the Immortal Body by one layer was worthwhile.
Therefore, despite knowing this pain was hard to bear, he must endure, repeating again and again until his body could withstand it.
…
…
One day!
Two days!
Three days!
Feng Haoyu saw Lin Chen’s moans coming every few hours. Later, he simply ignored Lin Chen—he was a complete madman.
So many times the Thousandfold Secret Realm has opened, how many have truly come to refine themselves?
…
…
Five days later, Lin Chen’s voice was suddenly gone, and Feng Haoyu was somewhat curious. Had Lin Chen left, unable to bear it?
Curious, Feng Haoyu headed in the direction where Lin Chen disappeared. One hour later, he found Lin Chen’s figure, still as miserable as before, sitting on the ground panting heavily.
Lin Chen also saw Feng Haoyu, raising his head and smiling: “Afraid of disrupting your cultivation, I moved a bit further away.”
Lin Chen’s smile was sincere, and his words moved Feng Haoyu; he didn’t expect Lin Chen’s reason for moving away was to avoid disturbing his cultivation—he was a considerate guy.
“Although the Thousandfold Secret Realm has body refining benefits, it really doesn’t mean much. Martial Path cultivation is more about the realm and Divine Soul; even Body Tempering Techniques have limits.”
Feeling Lin Chen’s sincerity, Feng Haoyu spoke again, trying to advise.
“Thank you for the reminder. I’m just trying; if it becomes unbearable, I’ll give up.”
“Just trying?”
Feng Haoyu understood Lin Chen was determined; what kind of trial had such self-harming?
Anyway, he had tried, since Lin Chen wouldn’t listen, he wouldn’t persuade further—their relationship wasn’t close enough to intervene more.
