Chapter 528: Chapter 500: A Box Jumped From the Plane

The scene before him made Fang Chenyi realize at once that he must be on the transport plane that was taking off.

At this point, they probably hadn’t reached the airspace over the map yet. Not only that, but the sense of immersion was simply incredible.

Of course, the only thing that was a pain was that the game graphics, which looked decent enough on a phone screen, were a different story once you were actually inside. While not quite reaching the exaggerated, blocky level of Minecraft, every character’s face was still somewhat pixelated.

After observing his surroundings for a moment, a somewhat childish voice suddenly rang out inside the plane:

"Everyone on this plane is a scrub! Your granddaddy’s waiting in P-Town. Who’s got the balls to come find me?"

Hearing that childish voice, Fang Chenyi was certain it had to be a little kid playing the game.

This made Fang Chenyi even more curious. He hadn’t realized you could play like this. ’So does that mean if I talk, it’s like speaking in the all-chat channel?’

Fang Chenyi suddenly had an interesting idea. ’I wonder if I can kill everyone right now?’

He thought this to himself, but he didn’t have any weapons in his hands at the moment. Otherwise, he might have actually been able to kill everyone on the plane.

But Fang Chenyi didn’t just stand around. He turned his attention to a wooden-looking character next to him.

He threw a punch and hit the character in the face. THWACK! A green light flashed from their face.

One punch, two punches, three punches... Suddenly, with a cry of "AARGH!", the wooden-looking character turned directly into a wooden box and lay quietly at Fang Chenyi’s feet.

"Holy shit, it actually worked."

Fang Chenyi truly hadn’t expected his idea to be feasible.

He had actually managed to kill a player while still on the plane.

A mischievous thought sparked in his mind. ’Imagine if I kill everyone on the plane, and then wait until it’s time to jump... Heh heh...’

’Er... but I probably won’t get the chance. They’ll probably just get teleported out once they die.’

As Fang Chenyi was thinking this, the small, childish voice continued to ring out inside the plane, trash-talking the other players.

Fang Chenyi didn’t pay him much mind and began looking at the map himself.

However, before he knew it, the player count on the plane began to drop. Fang Chenyi knew this meant they had reached the airspace above the island.

After observing the island for a moment, Fang Chenyi didn’t bother picking a specific spot and just chose to jump.

Only, this jump was different from the usual. This time, he walked to the cabin door himself, then took a leap and jumped out.

The WHOOSH of the wind in his ears felt just like a real parachute jump.

And just as Fang Chenyi jumped, a curse reached his ears. The voice was childish and very familiar—it was the same kid who had been trash-talking on the plane earlier:

"Aiya, what the fuck! How did I turn into a box right after jumping? A hacker! It’s definitely a hacker! You just wait, you fucking cheater! I’m going to report you right now!"

Following the sound, Fang Chenyi looked over and saw a wooden box plummeting straight down beside him.

This made Fang Chenyi freeze for a second. ’What’s going on? So the guy I used for my experiment back on the plane was that loud-mouthed kid.’

’And he was already dead, so how did he turn into a box and jump out?’

’Now this is getting interesting. It’s just like I thought. If I really killed everyone, what a sight it would be to see nothing but death boxes jumping out of the plane one by one.’

’Then again,’ he thought, ’that would definitely attract the attention of the game developers. This is a textbook example of a cheat.’

’But then again, the company operating this game is my own family’s. I could just come up with an excuse to smooth things over. Heh heh, just thinking about it is fun.’

Fang Chenyi was only entertaining the thought, though. He would never actually do it. Killing that guy on the plane was just an experiment.

He gave an apologetic shrug in the direction of the falling box, then put the matter out of his mind and stopped paying attention to anyone else.

Instead, he focused on controlling his own parachute.

As his altitude dropped lower and lower, Fang Chenyi instinctively reached out and pulled the ripcord. With a loud WHOOSH, a huge parachute deployed behind him.

"This feels incredibly realistic. The wind on my face feels exactly the same as when I’ve gone parachuting for real."

"This gaming helmet has a ton of potential. If it could be fully developed, it would be a blessing for all of humanity."

Fang Chenyi was absolutely right. With a gaming helmet like this, if you issued them to the military, every soldier could become a battle-hardened veteran.

You could design a much bloodier game specifically for them, letting them experience the feeling of the battlefield ahead of time and helping them develop more effectively.

’This needs to be put on the agenda,’ he thought. ’It just so happens that Brother Xiaoma and I were already discussing starting a virtual reality gaming conglomerate, and this technology is the perfect research goal.’

’I think I heard Brother Xiaoma mention that a foreign company is already researching this kind of technology. But their work is still limited to using various sensors to make the user’s body perform corresponding actions to achieve virtual reality.’

’What’s more, according to Brother Xiaoma, the equipment they’ve developed can’t replicate any sensation of pain.’

’In that case, even if the visuals are incredibly realistic, it doesn’t have much practical value for training. After all, only the genuine sensation of pain can forge a soldier and help them grow quickly.’

As Fang Chenyi was lost in thought, his altitude had slowly dropped to just a few dozen meters from the ground. Drawing on his previous parachuting experience, he bent his body upon landing and took a few running steps forward to stabilize himself.

Not only that, but after landing, Fang Chenyi felt that his parachute didn’t automatically disappear like everyone else’s. It was still tangled around him, only vanishing slowly after he took it off himself.

He looked around and found that he had landed in a small, undeveloped area. In front of him were just a few dilapidated little houses.
