After Situ Wenze left Lu Yunque’s office, Yun Zijin and Lu Yunque met each other’s gaze. "Should I go to this reception or not?"

Lu Yunque knew what Yun Zijin was struggling with. "Either way is fine. I’ll support whatever decision you make."

If Yun Zijin ultimately decided not to go, Lu Yunque would support her decision through his actions.

However, Lu Yunque’s actions could only represent him personally. He would just give the invitation he received to someone else from the Lu Family or the Lu Group and have them attend the reception in his place.

Still, it was scheduled for Saturday, so Yun Zijin had a few days to think it over.

If she did decide to go, she’d have to prepare a welcome gift.

But for now, Yun Zijin didn’t dwell on it. She spent another day and a half keeping Lu Yunque company at the Lu Group before finally returning to her place at Jade Lake.

The next day in class, Yun Zijin brought Qin Sitong breakfast as usual, sharing some of it with the starving masses around them.

This was the second time Ren Hui and Li Cui had witnessed this, and they glared at Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong, wishing they could burn a hole through them with their eyes.

But the two weren’t afraid of them in the slightest, completely ignoring their glares.

’After everything you’ve done, you’re not even going to let us draw a clear boundary with you?’

’The absolute nerve.’

The other students around them more or less knew what had happened in Yun Zijin’s dorm, so no one said a word in defense of Ren Hui and Li Cui.

One should have some self-awareness. It seemed that if people were even the slightest bit tolerant, they’d forget their own place.

Ren Hui and Li Cui, however, failed to see their own faults. They only felt that Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong were turning their classmates against them, isolating them. Their eyes grew red with anger.

But no one paid them any mind. Not a single person cared, even when their eyes turned red.

Compared to what they had done to Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong, this minor slight from them could almost be considered an act of kindness.

...

When the bell signaling the end of class rang and the professor dismissed them, Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong left the university. Qin Sitong got in her own car and followed Yun Zijin toward Xinghua Street.

Their branch on Xinghua Street was already under renovation, but to make sure they weren’t getting ripped off, they still went to check on the progress every day.

Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong chattered away the entire drive, and it felt like no time at all had passed before they reached their destination.

Yun Zijin’s car was quite distinctive. As soon as it pulled to a stop, one of the construction workers in charge of the renovation saw it.

Before long, someone came out of the shop. "Miss Yun, Miss Qin, you’re here."

The person who came out wasn’t one of the laborers, however, but an employee from the design studio. Yun Zijin had met him before when he’d come to take the shop’s measurements.

"Mr. Zhou, hello."

Yun Zijin didn’t actually know his name; she was just repeating what the other people from the studio had called him when they were measuring the shop.

Qin Sitong, following her lead, also called out, "Hello, Mr. Zhou."

"We started painting the walls today, so there might be a bit of a smell. Do you still want to come inside?"

Even though they were using the best materials, a slight odor was unavoidable.

"Yes."

You couldn’t spot any issues from the outside. You had to go in to see if there were any problems.

In any case, Yun Zijin pointed out every single area she felt was subpar.

"The color needs to be uniform here. You applied two coats here, and three over here. The shades are clearly different."

Qin Sitong hadn’t noticed any issues at all.

She walked over to Yun Zijin’s side, carefully examining the spot where the color was supposedly different. "The difference here is..."

"It’s such an obvious difference. Can’t you see it?"

Yun Zijin pointed to two spots. "It’s most obvious right here."

Qin Sitong and Mr. Zhou both stared at the wall for a long time before exchanging a look. "Zijin, have you considered the possibility that you’re the only one who can see it?"

’At any rate, we mere mortals couldn’t see the slightest change.’

Yun Zijin was speechless. ’...Fine. We’ll let it pass for now.’

"But if the painters could meet my standards, they’d be absolute masters of their craft."

Yun Zijin gave a thumbs-up.

"You’re right, Miss Yun, but very few people have eyes like yours. It’s rather difficult to achieve the results you’re hoping for."

’Miss Yun’s perception is practically on the level of absolute color sense. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to tell.’

But they quickly moved on from that topic. Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong were more concerned with the construction schedule.

"From the completion of the renovation to the end of the ventilation period, what’s the fastest you can hand the project over?"

Yun Zijin looked at Mr. Zhou.

Mr. Zhou glanced around and made a mental estimate before answering. "The full renovation should take about a month. After that, another two weeks for ventilation should be enough."

This was because they were using only the best materials, which were primarily chosen for being formaldehyde-free.

The ventilation period was just to air out the new smells, not to off-gas formaldehyde.

Hearing Mr. Zhou’s timeline, Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong exchanged a look, their minds already racing to plan the shop’s opening date.

After giving the shop one more look-over and confirming there were no major issues, the two of them left.

Qin Sitong had to go to the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop. She hadn’t even started making her daily quota of 200 cups of Wangyou Milk Tea.

Yun Zijin, meanwhile, headed to the Lu Group.

Lu Yunque had been busy enough to work overtime recently, and Yun Zijin was very understanding. Since she wasn’t working, she came by to keep him company whenever she was free.

At the very least, they could have lunch and dinner together.

If Lu Yunque ever got off work early, they could even go see a movie nearby.

By now, seeing Yun Zijin at the Lu Group was a common sight, and the senior executives had been in a particularly good mood recently.

After all, whenever Yun Zijin was present, even if Lu Yunque was dissatisfied with their reports, his critiques weren’t nearly as scathing. The worst that would happen was that he’d just send the report back to be redone.

When Yun Zijin wasn’t around, however, the CEO would berate them so badly they’d start to question their life choices, after which they would have to miserably revise their reports under an extremely tight deadline.

That was why the first thing the Lu Group’s senior executives did every morning was ask Mo Bin if Miss Yun was coming to the office that day.

Yun Zijin had no idea that the Lu Group’s executives regarded her as their lifeline. If it weren’t already the year 3024, they would have seriously considered erecting a statue in her honor.

But today, it was already noon and Yun Zijin still hadn’t shown up. The Lu Group’s executives felt their last shreds of hope die.

’First morning without Miss Yun. We miss her!’

Lu Yunque knew his executives had started timing their work reports for when Yun Zijin was around. Although he disliked having their time together interrupted, as long as they weren’t too over-the-top, Lu Yunque would allow them into his office to present their work.

Just then, shortly before noon, Yun Zijin’s car pulled up to the Lu Group building. For the executives, whose hopes had been reduced to ashes, a flame was instantly rekindled.

’As long as Miss Yun was here, their worthless lives were saved!’
