Dong Wenwu was on the verge of tears. He never would have thought Gao Mi could be so lucky as to have managed to get in with Lu Yunque’s girlfriend.

On the other end of the line, hearing the near-sobbing tone in his son’s voice, Dong Wenwu’s father paused for a moment before asking what had happened.

Without daring to add the slightest embellishment, Dong Wenwu recounted every single detail of what had happened from yesterday to today.

Thinking of the final look Yun Zijin gave him, Dong Wenwu felt a chill run down his spine even now.

And just a moment ago, Lu Yunque had seen him too. He had no idea if Yun Zijin would tell him what had happened.

If Lu Yunque found out what he’d done yesterday and today, the Dong Family would be finished in Dijing.

"You bastard! Go and apologize right now!"

When Dong Wenwu’s father heard what his son had done, he was so shocked he could barely breathe.

He had worked his fingers to the bone, keeping his head down and playing by the rules, just to build up a small company with a handful of connections in Dijing. And now, this good-for-nothing son of his had nearly destroyed it all overnight.

"I did apologize, but Yun Zi... I mean, Miss Yun still didn’t seem happy. I was afraid things would get worse, so I called you right away, didn’t I?"

To be fair, while Dong Wenwu wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, he at least had enough self-awareness...

...to know when he was in over his head and call for backup.

"You! Just... go home for now. I’ll figure something out."

But what could he do? He was the Dong Family’s only son. As disappointed as Father Dong was in him, he had no choice but to swallow his anger.

It wasn’t like he could break his legs, could he?

Yun Zijin was completely unaware of the chaos erupting on Dong Wenwu’s side. And even if she had known, she would have simply said he deserved it.

After three days apart, Lu Yunque had turned into a complete clingy monster. The moment he got in the car, he pulled Yun Zijin into his arms, resting his chin on her shoulder and nuzzling into her neck. "Tired~"

"If you were so tired, why didn’t you extend your business trip? You didn’t have to cram all your work into such a short period."

Yun Zijin shifted slightly as she spoke.

"I missed you. I just wanted to get my work done as fast as possible and come home to see you."

A single trip abroad had turned Lu Yunque into Mr. Direct. Yun Zijin was almost caught off guard.

"I’m right here. It’s not like I’m going to run off."

Yun Zijin really thought Lu Yunque needed to change his habit of cramming all his work into two or three days and pulling overloaded all-nighters to get it done.

Lu Yunque didn’t answer. When Yun Zijin glanced down, she realized he had fallen asleep right there in her arms.

’Just how exhausted must he be to fall asleep that fast?’

"Assistant Mo, just how busy have you two been? This is no good. Find a place to pull over and switch to the passenger seat. I’ll have Zero One come and drive."

’If Lu Yunque was this exhausted, his assistant, Mo Bin, couldn’t be much better off. Wasn’t this just asking for an accident from drowsy driving?’

Yun Zijin wasn’t about to entrust her life to a driver who was falling asleep at the wheel.

Mo Bin didn’t quite know how to describe it. All he could say was... there was no ’busiest,’ only ’busier.’

He was sensible enough to take her advice. As soon as he saw a temporary parking spot, he pulled over and switched to the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, Yun Zijin sent a message to Zero One, asking him to arrange for someone to come and drive for her.

Zero One didn’t send anyone else; he came himself.

Yun Zijin didn’t care who drove, as long as it wasn’t Mo Bin.

"Give me your address. We’ll drop you off first."

’Mo Bin was paid to do a job, but it wasn’t right to work him to the bone.’

’Besides, Lu Yunque was asleep. It was better to let Mo Bin get some proper rest so he could show up to work refreshed the next day.’

"I live at Jinxiu Lakefront. Thank you, Miss Yun."

"Don’t mention it. You should try to get some sleep on the way there. Zero One, head to Jinxiu Lakefront."

"Yes, Miss."

Zero One acknowledged the order. He skillfully started the engine, and the car merged smoothly back into traffic.

Jinxiu Lakefront was a budget-friendly apartment complex. Both its sale and rental prices were considered quite affordable for a place like Dijing, where every inch of land was as precious as gold.

The environment was decent, though. The complex had a security gate, and any non-residents had to register their ID and get confirmation from a resident before being allowed inside.

Mo Bin woke up the moment the car came to a stop.

It was the kind of instinct people have when they arrive home—they just snap awake.

"We’re here. I’ll get out now. Thank you, Miss Yun!"

Mo Bin hadn’t expected Yun Zijin to call her bodyguard to take over driving for him, let alone drop him off at home first.

In an affordable complex like Jinxiu Lakefront, even a BMW or a Mercedes would turn heads, to say nothing of a Rolls-Royce.

The iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament made the Rolls-Royce instantly recognizable.

Even without looking, Yun Zijin could sense people around them pulling out their phones to take pictures and videos.

The moment Mo Bin was out of the car, Yun Zijin hurriedly told Zero One to drive off.

The brief appearance of the Rolls-Royce Phantom at Jinxiu Lakefront was like a mirage—fleeting and surreal.

If it weren’t for the video proof, they would have thought they had collectively imagined the whole thing.

Little did Yun Zijin know, her act of dropping Mo Bin home had instantly turned him into a local celebrity in his apartment complex.

To avoid any misunderstandings, whenever someone brought it up, Mo Bin would always explain that it was his boss’s car, driven by his boss’s girlfriend’s bodyguard. He had just happened to be returning from a business trip with his boss and was merely enjoying the perks.

But that, of course, is a story for another time.

After dropping Mo Bin off, Yun Zijin had Zero One drive straight to Jade Lake.

Once they were downstairs, Yun Zijin gently nudged Lu Yunque.

Lu Yunque, who had been sleeping soundly in her arms, was gently shaken awake by her.

"We’re here?"

"Not your place. I had Zero One drive to Jade Lake. There’s a spare guest room, so you can rest here for a bit. I’ll have Zero One take you back to the Lu Family’s Old Mansion tonight."

’Normally, after a business trip, Lu Yunque should have gone straight to the Lu Family’s Old Mansion to greet the elders. But he was so exhausted; Yun Zijin figured it would be fine for him to rest for a few hours before heading back.’

Hearing that Yun Zijin had brought him straight to Jade Lake, Lu Yunque was suddenly wide awake.

"You mean... you want me to stay at Jade Lake tonight?"

’Was this some kind of blessing from the heavens?’

’Lu Yunque never imagined he’d go on one business trip and come back to find he’d "made it inside the house," so to speak.’

’Even though Jade Lake was just the place Yun Zijin stayed when she had morning classes, it was still living under the same roof as her.’

’Which basically meant they were living together!’

’And if you rounded up again, didn’t that basically mean they were getting married?’

’You’ve certainly got a creative way of rounding up,’ Yun Zijin thought.

"What are you thinking about! You’re staying in the guest room, not my bedroom. Stop looking like your mind is in the gutter."

Lu Yunque had failed to control his expression. Everything he was thinking was written all over his face.
