Rich Parents Found Me After I Got a Tycoon System? Yeah, I'm Not Interested
Chapter 336: Li Cui’s Birthday Party Invitation
Situ Wenze could tell that Yun Zijin didn’t seem particularly excited or resistant to the paternity test. It was as if she were just going to the hospital for a routine check-up.
Although he wasn’t yet sure if Yun Zijin was his cousin, Situ Wenze still felt a little uneasy.
It was supposed to be such an important moment—a family reunion—yet Yun Zijin showed no signs of anticipation. Situ Wenze felt an urge to speak up for his aunt.
But then he remembered that Yun Zijin had grown up in an orphanage, and any words of accusation caught in his throat.
Who was there to blame?
If the paternity test confirmed their relationship, his aunt might be a victim in all this, but Yun Zijin was the truly innocent one.
He sighed to himself. The words of persuasion he had been about to offer instead became:
"I’ve scheduled an appointment at the Dijing First People’s Hospital’s DNA lab. I put a rush on it. You just need to be at the hospital at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Remember to fast."
He had no right to blame Yun Zijin. All he could do now was hope that the results of this paternity test were what he was hoping for.
"I understand."
With that, Yun Zijin was about to hang up, but Situ Wenze spoke again.
"Do you... want to meet my aunt beforehand?"
In truth, having seen Situ Wenliang, Situ Wenze was already almost certain in his heart of the relationship between his aunt and Yun Zijin.
But for the sake of having objective proof, this paternity test was unavoidable.
"No, thank you. Before the test results are out, I think it’s better if we don’t casually claim to be related."
With Xia Zhengguang as a cautionary tale, Yun Zijin now had zero expectations when it came to finding family.
If they really cared about her so much, they wouldn’t have abandoned her on an orphanage’s doorstep right after she was born.
If it weren’t for the matron of the orphanage, she probably wouldn’t have lived to see the next day.
In this matter, Situ Wenze’s aunt was not innocent either.
"Okay, I understand. Sorry to bother you so early in the morning. How about I pick you up tomorrow?"
"No need, I have my own car. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up. I have to get to class."
Since Yun Zijin had put it that way, Situ Wenze couldn’t press the matter. "Okay, bye. See you tomorrow."
Yun Zijin gave a brief reply and hung up the phone.
Thinking about the paternity test tomorrow, Yun Zijin pursed her lips. She felt none of the anticipation or happiness that should come with finding her mother.
’Randomly Spend, do you think I’m too cold-blooded?’
As expected, Randomly Spend didn’t respond.
Although Yun Zijin was bound to the system, it was like a mute; aside from issuing tasks and announcing their completion and rewards, it offered no response whatsoever.
But Yun Zijin’s melancholy lasted only a moment before she snapped out of it.
She went to her classes as usual, having arranged with Qin Sitong to go back to Xingyu Mansion and pick out formal dresses after they finished selling their 200 cups of Wangyou Milk Tea for the day.
The groundbreaking ceremony was on Saturday. By choosing the dresses on Monday, they would have plenty of time for alterations if anything didn’t fit right.
But Qin Sitong’s figure was similar to Yun Zijin’s, and they were even about the same height, so Yun Zijin thought it was highly unlikely that any alterations would be needed.
However, just as the two of them were about to leave the classroom after class, Ren Hui and Li Cui blocked their path.
To be honest, if they hadn’t shown up in front of her and Qin Sitong of their own accord, Yun Zijin would have almost forgotten the two of them even existed.
Their action caused many students who hadn’t yet left the classroom to stop, settling in to watch the drama.
Yun Zijin’s expression soured. She had no desire to be gawked at like a monkey in a cage.
"You’re in the way."
With that, Yun Zijin raised a hand to push the two of them aside.
"We’re your roommates, for goodness’ sake. Are you two really planning to cut all ties with us for the entire final year?"
Before Yun Zijin could touch them, Li Cui spoke up, her expression incredibly sad. But Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong weren’t buying their act.
"Isn’t it obvious? After what you two did, do you really expect Zijin and me to be on friendly terms with you?"
Qin Sitong didn’t want to be the center of attention either. After speaking, she grabbed Yun Zijin, intending to bypass the two and leave through the other aisle.
But Ren Hui and Li Cui had finally managed to corner them; there was no way they would give up so easily.
Seeing Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong change direction, they quickly ran over to block their path again.
A cold glint flashed in Yun Zijin’s eyes. "If I don’t make it to the first floor within five minutes, my bodyguards will come up to this classroom to find me. Are you sure you want to keep blocking my way?"
At school, Yun Zijin’s academic performance might not have been the most outstanding, but her fame was definitely unparalleled.
Just from the bodyguards who followed her every time she came to campus, anyone at Dijing University who wasn’t living under a rock could recognize her.
Sure enough, at the mention of her bodyguards, Ren Hui and Li Cui flinched.
But then, for some unknown reason, they mustered their courage and continued to block the way.
"It seems you’ve chosen the hard way."
Yun Zijin didn’t wait for Zero One and his men to notice something was wrong and come up. She pulled out her phone and called Zero One directly.
"Y-you, don’t call! We just wanted to invite you to my birthday party."
Seeing Yun Zijin take out her phone, Li Cui hurriedly blurted out her purpose.
"Your birthday party? If it were Ren Hui’s, I might find that a bit more believable. Shouldn’t you at least rehearse your lies before telling them?"
Yun Zijin seriously doubted these two had gotten into Dijing University on their own merit. Their intelligence... seemed lacking.
"My birthday has already passed. It’s Li Cui’s birthday, but I’m the one organizing the party.
We’ve been roommates for three years. I felt it wouldn’t be right not to invite you to Li Cui’s birthday party.
It’s next Saturday. I’ve booked a private room at a bar near the school. Besides you two, I’ve also invited a lot of upperclassmen. You’re free, right?"
Ren Hui shot Li Cui a glare, then smoothed over her clumsy lie.
"We’re not."
Yun Zijin’s refusal was blunt.
And she wasn’t wrong. This coming Saturday was the groundbreaking ceremony for her manor. She wasn’t about to change the auspicious date for her manor’s construction just for a birthday party that was so obviously a trap, was she?
They weren’t important enough for that.
"Miss!"
Seven bodyguards filed into the classroom, quickly moved to Yun Zijin’s side, and shot Ren Hui and Li Cui a terrifyingly friendly look.
With Zero One and his men there, Ren Hui and Li Cui didn’t dare linger. They immediately turned and fled the classroom.
The invitation failed today, so they would just try again next class. With a whole week left, they refused to believe Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong wouldn’t fall into their trap.
