Chapter 60 - Crimson Lighting Javelin
A red smoke could be seen slowly flowing out of Xavier’s mouth as his eyes glowed a bright crimson. His stomach growled before the electric energy from the lightning javelin began to stream into his mouth.
The butler’s eyes widened in disbelief as he observed this feat happening from right before him, he then looked up at the sky and thrust his arms out towards Xavier.
[Barrier Manipulation: Insulating Hexagonal Barrier.]
A single thick layer of hexagons bonded with one another in the form of a barrier suddenly appeared above Xavier, and in that instant, a bolt of lightning flashed right before their eyes.
They couldn’t even react as it struck it’s target, Xavier.
*KABOOM!*
The sound of thunder resounded across the air in a burst, the Vampires all covered their ears before looking over at Xavier.
A cloud of smoke had been created from the lightning strike, making it impossible to see what had happened.
“…Xavi…?”
“Brother..?
The two girls called out as they took a step towards the platform with the smoke.
*Zap*
The moment Sangrea stepped onto the platform however, her feet was suddenly zapped and shocked by an electric current.
With a surprised look, she watched as the smoke slowly faded.
Xavier’s shredded shirtless figure stood by the edge of the platform just barely holding onto a glowing red rod of lightning.
His chest and back had red electric currents flowing through it. The electric currents streamed out of his mouth towards the rod as he exhaled a deep breath.
Hideous third-degree burns ran across his arms, they were still scorching red and hot.
Xavier had successfully stopped it, the Marquess’s full powered Javelin.
Beneath Xavier were his [Vampire Swords.] with their blades shattered and above Xavier was a horizontal hexagonal barrier, which was most likely what had stopped the lightning strike from the clouds.
But the fact that Xavier not only stopped the rod but also caught it. They couldn’t believe it.
‘I knew he was strong but this… It was as if he absorbed the attack? I don’t recall him having such an ability…’ The maid thought to herself.
‘Is this really my brother…? Just when did he become so strong?’ Viera wondered as she stared at his back. For some reason his reliable back appeared a lot more reliable than usual.
“Xavier… Are you okay…?” Elaine questioned as she took a step forward.
Xavier didn’t respond, his eyes remained glued to his target as he pulled his arm back and got into a throwing stance. Veins bulged out of his burnt arms as he took a few steps back.
–
“The rod suddenly stopped…?” The Marquess asked with a confused expression. “Huh…? Did he actually survive that…?”
As the Marquess narrowed his eyes to get a better look at the situation in the far distance, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
The Marquess’s instantly tilted his head to the right and in that instant-
*VZWOOOM!*
A red light flashed right past him before piercing into the ground beside him.
*CRASH!*
The Marquess slowly looked over to his side to confirm what it was that had pierced the ground beside him, only for his with the drawing of a smile to crack and split in half as he did so.
The cracked mask fell loose and dropped onto the floor, displaying the surprised look on his face. His short Pearl black berry fell over covering his crimson red eyes.
With said crimson eyes he got a good look at what had been launched at him. It was his very only Lightning Javelin, only this one had a crimson colour with red currents flowing through it.
*Shatter*
He watched as his own javelin broke into pieces right before his eyes.
“Ha..Hahaha…” He giggled with joy as the members of his squad rushed to check up on him and confirm his safety.
Ignoring them, he slowly turned over to the platform only to see them using this opening to get away.
Upon an even closer inspection, he noticed Xavier glaring at him from a far, not for a single second did he take his eyes off him, not even when he ran.
It was glare filled with bloodlust, and desire for revenge. The marquess felt his bones tremble from the excitement. “A warning… That was great… Just great!!”
He stared towards Xavier with a look of fascination, one a child would have after finding a new toy.
“More… I need to fight you again and show you more… There’s no way I’d be satisfied with just that…”
[Lightning Manipulation…]
“Lightning Dragon-”
*Wham!*
The young man’s ability was interrupted as a hand suddenly smacked against the back of his head.
“Ouch! What was that for?” He asked as he turned over to the lady behind him.
“You’ve already done enough. You’ll get a better opportunity in the future, now isn’t the time to chase them.”
A confused expression grew on him from behind the mask.
“Is that what you think?” He asked as he turned back over to them.
“Is something wrong? Their family will without a doubt be made a target after what Sangrea Redblood did. We can strike at that time.”
“No, that’s not it… It’s just I felt like if we didn’t deal with them now, we’d not be able to deal with them in the future.
*Snap*
With the snap of a finger, another mask suddenly manifested above his hand before it was used to cover up his face.
“Oh well… Maybe it’s just my imagination. Let’s leave.” He muttered before retreating back into the underground tunnels.
Right before leaving he glanced over at the ghouls scurrying around in search of humans and food.
“Pity…” He muttered before snapping his figures.
*Snap*
[Lightning Manipulation: Thunderclap.]
The moment he did so, thunder instantly struck the pavement exactly where the ghouls were standing, scorching and burning them in and instant.
“That’s much, much better.” He added before walking down the underground staircase with the group. “Redbloods and that mysterious young man… I’m not letting neither of you out of my sight… Hahaha…”
