Reverend Insanity : Blood Path

Chapter 52 Blood Tax Gu

However, Lin Feng knew his current strength was still far from enough to support his ambitions. If he wanted true freedom, he could never stop moving forward.

His identity as a Blood Path Gu Master alone was enough to condemn him to certain death if exposed. Even setting Blood Path aside, he was still an Otherworldly Demon, an identity that could never be changed. Unlike in other worlds, Otherworldly Demons in the Gu World were regarded with extreme vigilance. If the righteous path ever discovered his true identity, he would inevitably be captured, dissected, and studied before meeting a gruesome end.

Most importantly, Lin Feng pursued freedom above all else. As a transmigrator, he knew what the greatest shackle in this world truly was. As long as it remained unbroken, he would never be truly free.

“Now that I’ve reached Rank Four, it’s time to refine my Gu to Rank Four as well.” Lin Feng frowned slightly. “I cultivate both Bone Path and Blood Path. Upgrading all of my Gu will be a massive undertaking.”

Within his aperture were several Bone Path Gu, including Spiral Bone Spear Gu, Exoskeleton Gu, Bone Box Gu, Bone Wing Gu, and Bone Carriage Gu. Together, they barely formed a single killer move: White Bone Chariot.

The killer move White Bone Chariot was created by Shen Jie’ao, a demonic Gu Immortal of Northern Plains known as the Arrogant Demon Lord. Having just advanced to the Gu Immortal realm, he possessed no Immortal Gu. To compensate, he created White Bone Chariot, a killer move whose power rivaled that of a Rank Six Immortal Gu.

The master of the White Bone Inheritance, Gray Bone scholar, did not receive Shen Jie’ao’s direct inheritance. Instead, he inherited the inheritance of Shen Jie’ao’s successor, Lady White Bone, who lived countless generations later.

Lady White Bone was an extraordinary woman from the Northern Plains. However, because of the patriarchal traditions there, she was never given the opportunity to display her talents. She eventually journeyed across the Central Continent and settled in Southern Border, where she rose to prominence and became renowned throughout the region before spending the rest of her life here.

After passing through countless generations, the inheritance ultimately came into Lin Feng’s hands. Although the Immortal Gu recipes had long since been lost, every Gu recipe from Rank One to Rank Five had been preserved.

As for his own inheritance, Lin Feng naturally intended to devote far more effort to Bone Path. With Blood Refinement Gu and his considerable attainment in Refinement Path, refining Bone Path Gu would not pose much difficulty.

However, his understanding of Bone Path still paled in comparison to his understanding of Blood Path. So far, he had only developed the concepts of Exoskeleton Gu and the creation of bone beasts.

Blood Path, on the other hand, was a different story. His first creation, and also his vital Gu, was Blood Tax Gu.

Blood Tax Gu established a unique connection between its user and those who accepted his Blood Path inheritance. Through that connection, Lin Feng could directly draw upon their strength to nourish his own cultivation. If he could one day perfect Blood Tax Gu into a killer move, then even Gu Masters who had never inherited his Blood Path could be made subject to the Blood Tax.

He had many other ideas as well, but for now they remained beyond his reach. Gu such as Blood Loan Gu, Blood Debt Gu, and Blood Pressure Gu existed only as concepts. Only when the right opportunity presented itself would he have a chance to refine them.

“Those blood slaves should be fully grown by now.” A faint smile curved across Lin Feng’s lips. “The only troublesome one is that brat from Xu Village. He’s already become a village elder. But after what happened last time, he’s probably under everyone’s suspicion.”

“Heh… it’s finally time to collect what’s mine.” Lin Feng let out a low chuckle, his narrowed eyes overflowing with icy killing intent.

Chiyang Mountain

A group of five Gu Masters ran through the crimson maple forest. Leading them was a broad-shouldered, medium-built man. He was Chi Bi, a Rank Two Gu Master from Chijia Village.

“Have you heard? That Blood Path demon, Yang Kang, killed three more Rank Two Gu Masters yesterday.”

“Huh? You mean the fiend who slaughtered the villages beneath our mountain? I remember the clan elders and the clan leader demanding that Xu Village execute him. Didn’t they execute him?”

“You’ve been in seclusion for months, so it’s no wonder you haven’t heard. Yang Kang escaped from Xu Village long ago. They completely disowned him, and now he’s been lurking around our territory, waiting for an opportunity to take revenge.”

There had been one of the conditions set by the former clan leader of Xu Village. Yang Kang was to remain near Chijia Village and assassinate its Gu Masters.

In return, Xu Village would continuously supply him with intelligence, helping him avoid Chijia Village’s pursuit while guaranteeing his younger sister’s safety and providing the resources needed for her cultivation.

It was both protection… and a threat.

After leaving Yangjia Village, Yang Kang was no longer bound by rules or morality. He began hunting down Gu Masters from Chijia Village, using their blood to cultivate. As a result, his cultivation advanced at an astonishing pace. In just a few months, he broke through from the initial stage of Rank Three to the middle stage, his strength becoming comparable to that of the village’s senior elders.

To reassure the others, Chi Bi snorted coldly.

“Hmph, what’s there to fear from a mere Blood Path demon? He’s nothing more than a rat everyone wants to kill. Our clan leader has already requested aid from the Tie Clan of the Southern Border. As a super clan, there’s no way they’ll stand by and do nothing.”
