Reverend Insanity : Blood Path

Chapter 115 Hunter Wang II

  • Next Chapter

Hidden among the trees, Fang Yuan had originally intended to continue following the wild boar tracks, but the conversation made him stop.

Interesting. This mortal was clearly different from the farmers Fang Yuan had seen earlier. Most mortals living under the rule of Gu Masters had long grown accustomed to lowering their heads, yet Wang Er openly spoke of escaping Qing Mao Mountain and showed little reverence toward Gu Masters.

Still, that alone was not enough to make Fang Yuan care about an ordinary mortal. What truly caught his attention was something the other hunter had mentioned.

The man called Wang Er had a father who had once been known as the greatest hunter in the surrounding area. According to the customs of Southern Border hunters, experienced hunting families often possessed maps recording the territories and movements of nearby wild beasts.

I’ve lived in a mountain village for years, but when it comes to tracking wild beasts, I naturally can’t compare with hunters who have spent their entire lives in these forests. If I can obtain that map, finding wild boars will become much easier, and I can avoid many unnecessary dangers.

However, Fang Yuan had no intention of immediately attacking them.

There are four adult men, and all of them are experienced hunters. They naturally can’t compare with my five hundred years of battle experience, but this body is still young and hasn’t fully developed. My only offensive Gu is Moonlight Gu. There’s no reason to take unnecessary risks.

I’ll follow them first, investigate their situation, and make my move when an opportunity appears.

Fang Yuan had killed countless people during his previous life, but he had never survived for five hundred years by recklessly attacking everyone he encountered. Killing without considering the consequences would only create unnecessary trouble, and there was no guarantee he would obtain what he wanted.

This was especially true now. First Gen Gu Yue had awakened and was secretly carrying out his own plans, while Fang Yuan himself remained under his control. Until he possessed enough strength to break free, acting recklessly out of confidence would only place himself in greater danger.

Hunter Wang House

Bright moonlight passed through the dense canopy, scattering patches of silver light across an old wooden house deep within the forest.

The house had been built from thick tree trunks and appeared exceptionally sturdy despite its age. Moss covered parts of the walls, while several trunks had even sprouted tender new branches. A tall green bamboo fence surrounded the house, enclosing a small vegetable garden where several rows of vegetables grew.

The place was far from Gu Yue Village and hidden deep within the mountains. Its remote location meant that even the Gu Masters responsible for the surrounding area rarely visited.

Inside the wooden house, a beautiful young girl sat beside a candle. Her large dark eyes repeatedly turned toward the door, and the anxiety on her face became more obvious as time passed.

“Don’t worry, little sister. Big brother said he’d come tonight, so he’ll definitely come.”

Wang Er spoke reassuringly from beside her. They were waiting for their elder brother. And judging from Wang Er’s earlier attitude toward Gu Masters, this elder brother seemed to be the source of his confidence.

Several Hours Later

Deep into the night, a knock finally sounded from outside the Wang family’s wooden house. Wang Er immediately hurried over and opened the door.

“Big brother, you’re finally back! I’ve missed you these past few days!”

Wang Er excitedly pulled the newcomer into a tight embrace. The visitor was none other than Wang Da, the eldest son of the Wang family.

Wang Da resembled Wang Er by seven or eight parts, but his body was stronger and more robust. His face was also rougher and more weathered, carrying traces of someone who had spent years wandering outside.

After Wang Da entered, Old Man Wang immediately stepped outside and carefully inspected the surroundings, afraid that his eldest son might have been followed.

Under the moonlight, the forest appeared peaceful. Only the occasional hooting of owls hunting among the trees and the distant howls of lightning wolves searching for prey could be heard.

After making certain that nobody had followed Wang Da, Old Man Wang finally relaxed.

His caution was not excessive. Gu Yue Village maintained extremely strict control over the mortals under its rule. No mortal was permitted to capture, refine, or secretly possess Gu. Anyone discovered violating this rule could be executed, with their corpse used as a warning to others.

Yet Wang Da had unexpectedly encountered an inheritance and became a Gu Master without the permission of Gu Yue Clan. If the clan discovered this, the consequences for the entire Wang family would be severe.

“Father, you’re being too cautious.” Wang Da snorted dismissively. “Even if that Gu Master stationed nearby discovered me, so what? He’s only Rank Two middle stage. At worst, I’ll just kill him.”
