Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 645: The Two Dragon Elders

  • Next Chapter

The eye shifted back and two gigantic claws appeared, grabbing the edge of the rift from either side.

They tore open the Senseless Dimension like paper, bringing Vyaghra and Gumiho to the overworld.

Blood splattered from Vyaghra’s mouth from the forceful cancellation of Senseless Dimension.

Two gigantic forms of dragons with shimmering purple scales revealed, surrounding the duo from either side. Their old wings with a few holes in them were wide enough to cover the entire sky behind them. Their eyes was as large as the height of Vyaghra and Gumiho.

"You have defied the very rulers of this world, lowly beasts," The first dragon elder growled, his voice hitting the duo like a storm.

"There is no place in this world where you can escape to," the second dragon elder added. "From this moment on, there will be no more Beast Faction in the Western Continent. Only the slaves to serve the dragons for eternity. But you..."

He pointed at Gumiho. "You don’t even deserve to be a slave. Hell! I never seen someone as ugly as you."

Booming laughs of the two dragons echoed, trembling the ground beneath. Vyaghra clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. The furious he was, he knew he was no match for these mighty creatures. They could just kill him with the flick of their finger.

Gumiho wore an even darker expression on her face. She bit her lower lips, trying to remain rational despite the fury burning inside her.

"No one has the right to decide the fate of my race," she declared, her firm tone gathering the attention of the two dragons. Her feet slowly left the ground, her Soulforce rapidly increasing as she reached at the same level as the heads of the mighty dragons. Six tails unfurled behind her and her pupils began glowing like stars.

Countless petals of plum blossoms materialised around Gumiho, drifting out of thin air as if the wind itself had given birth to them. They multiplied with every breath, until they covered an area as vast as the two dragons combined, a pink storm hanging in the sky.

Gumiho swayed her hand.

The petals hurled forward in a single sweep and wrapped around the dragons from every direction, swallowing their massive forms. The world turned pink for a moment. Then it turned dark.

When the petals cleared, the two dragon elders found themselves in the deepest depth of an ocean. There was no sky, no sun, and no ground beneath their feet except the cold seabed. Water pressed against their bodies from every side.

"An illusion?" the first elder growled, spreading his wings. "Such petty tricks won’t..."

He flapped them to rise, but the weight of the ocean pushed back, slamming him down to the floor. The second elder tried too, with the same result. Even their thick scales felt the crushing pressure of the abyss.

Something moved in the darkness.

Hundreds of shadows came swimming out of the depths, their pale bellies glinting in the faint light. They were sharks, each one nearly the size of a dragon, their jaws wide enough to swallow a house whole. They attacked from every direction at once.

Teeth rubbed against the dragons’ thick scales, grinding and screeching. A few sharks managed to land bites at the start as the elders were caught off guard, and the water that restrained their movements didn’t help them either.

But the element of surprise didn’t last long.

The first elder swung his claws, slicing a shark clean in half. The second elder crushed another within his jaws. Slowly, the dragons found their footing, and the counterattack began. Claws slashed and tails swept, and shark after shark was torn apart.

Strangely, none of them bled.

Every shark that was cut down burst into countless petals of plum blossoms, scattering through the water and vanishing in a barely audible explosion.

"What is this?" the second elder muttered, narrowing his eyes. A thin scratch ran across his thick skin. It stung, which only fed his fury. The first elder had the same marks along his own body.

"Enough of this nonsense!"

Both dragons blasted out their Celestial Soulforce at once. The purple energy detonated outward, ripping through the water and tearing apart the entire area around them. The ocean, the sharks and the darkness all shattered into countless petals of plum blossoms, drifting down like pink snow.

When the last petal settled, the dragons found themselves standing on the vast plains again, the same ground where they had stopped Gumiho and Vyaghra from escaping.

"Her illusion carried the power of heaven and earth," the first elder muttered, glancing at the scratches on his body. "It even confused us for a moment."

"How is that possible for a lowly beast?" the second elder whispered.

Gumiho still hovered before them, her six tails swaying behind her. Her eyes were calm, glowing like stars, already prepared for the next attack.

Her fingers moved, forming a rapid series of hand signs.

The land beneath the dragons and the sky above them began to glow at the same time as vast magical circles of complicated pink patterns appeared.

She had formed this array while the dragons were distracted inside the illusion.

It was a suppressive array. The moment it was invoked, the ground beneath the dragons split open. Their bodies froze, then shook, as an unimaginable weight fell upon them, as if an entire mountain had struck each of them.

"What...?" the first elder grunted.

Maximilian had given the blueprint of this array to Gumiho. Within its boundaries, gravity increased by fifty times. Only someone possessing the gravity attribute could use it, but with Gumiho’s genius talent in array formation and her ability to resonate with the World and use its law to her will, she had managed to invoke it. Even then, she couldn’t unleash its full strength. Her cultivation base was still too low to manipulate world laws so easily.

The weight kept increasing. The dragons’ massive limbs bent at the joints, their old wings sagging, and their bellies sinking lower until they threatened to touch the ground. Dust rose around their feet.

’Just a little more,’ Gumiho thought, sweat sliding down her temple.

"I HAD ENOUGH!!"

The first elder’s roar shook the plains. His jaw opened wide, his throat bulging as a terrifying energy gathered inside it, so dense that the air around his mouth began to warp.

A shiver ran down Gumiho’s spine. Her instincts screamed at her. That energy was dangerous.

She immediately formed a thick shield of petals before her, layer upon layer, hundreds of metres wide.

"Dragon Roar!"

A beam of raw, concentrated Celestial Soulforce burst out from the First Dragon Elder’s mouth, shattering the space along its wake in a thick line.

It struck the petal wall.

Boom!!!

A cataclysmic explosion erupted, loud enough to be heard even from hundreds of kilometres away. Reality shattered, the ground split open, and dust and debris flew in every direction. Gigantic mushroom clouds rose into the sky.

When the explosion finally faded, the hundreds of metres of petal wall that Gumiho had materialised were revealed, with a gaping hole torn through the centre, reaching all the way to the other side.

Gumiho blinked. She was still standing, unharmed.

Because two figures stood before her, breathing heavily.

Mriga and Riksharaja.

A shield of light that had appeared at the last moment, the one that had tanked the Dragon Roar, scattered away into thin particles of life. Riksharaja had poured all of his Soulforce into Mriga, who had used his own Soulforce together with it to form that shield. Yet it couldn’t withstand even a single attack of the dragon.

Riksharaja barely kept himself from falling to the ground. Blood dripped from the corner of Mriga’s lips, and his hands were trembling.

"A-are you alright, Your Majesty?" Mriga asked, looking back at her with a warm smile.

But Gumiho’s eyes were fixed on something else, shock clear in them.

A hundred metres away, a purple star glowed in the sky. It was the second dragon elder, his mouth wide open, with Soulforce accumulating inside it. He had been waiting for this moment, the moment the first roar left them defenceless.

"Look out—" Gumiho’s words stopped mid-sentence as the second Dragon Roar crossed the distance before they could even blink, flashing the world in blinding light.

Boom!

---

The two dragon elders arrived at the destroyed hall again, where Vincent, Felix and the Demi-Gods were still sitting at their seats.

The first elder carried the half-dead figures of Riksharaja and Vyaghra in his arms, one grabbed by the throat and the other by the leg, hanging upside down. Their arms were twisted at unnatural angles, and their bodies were covered in blood, dripping on the broken floor with every step the dragon took.

The second elder had Mriga by his antler in one hand, the other half of the antler already destroyed. In his other hand, Gumiho was gripped by her hair, her barely conscious figure hanging freely, her six tails dragging limply along the ground.
